Dwilight (a.k.a. West Continent) is the first complete BattleMaster world map created by the player community. It is also the first (and currently only) Serious Medieval Atmosphere game world.

OOC Note: This island is a testing island (as is Beluaterra), so expect to see bugs as new features are tested and improved.

History

A short summary of important events in Dwilight's history that significantly affected a major realm or the continent. Neutrality is generally strove for. In time, older summaries are archived, and only the more current accounts are kept on this page.

Bloodstars' Blood Spilt by Brethren

Due to Raivan Empire's agreement to build temples as part of their neutrality, many lords were forced to join the Bloodstars. Imperial Chancellor Edward also seeked expansion and quickly took Freke. This caused outrage by Morek as they had claimed the land. Diplomacy grew tense between the newest superpower and the small Raivan Empire and OrdermarshalMedugnatos Stormcrow and High Inquisitor Anabellium 'Runner' West of Morek put claims upon Aegir and Aegir's Deep. After several skirmishes in Aegir's Deep and military occupation of the region, the Raivan Empire gave in and agreed to give Freke to the papal state that was to be founded upon Moses' Peninsula.

Madinan Tournament

In late January 2009, Sir Sage Meadowcrest, Duke of Madina, Marshal of the Madina Harbor City Guard, announced a swordfighting tournament to be held in Madina. There was a charge of 15 gold for every participant. The winner was rewarded with 500 gold. There was an reward of 200 gold for second place.

However, the tournament, while announced 7 days in advance, was too far away for the northern Dwilight realms to join. One account recorded 8 days of travel from Springdale Duchy.

The tournament completed with Eczka Czek, noble of Madina, winning. Second place went to Baron Sorbad D'Saferate of Laraibina.

Victory For Virovene and the End of an Empire

The War of Secession ended after a long siege by Virovene of Springdale's capital fortress of Nifelhold. The stronghold held out for many months and took a tremendous effort on behalf of Virovene to control the people. Despite Virovene's military superiority, it took many attempts to gain control. The taking of Springdale's final region meant that, after its long history, the first great realm on Dwilight has been lost.

The Formation of the Holy State

After much planning from the followers of Sanguis Astroism, a new theocracy has been formed upon the Mimer peninsular, known as Corsanctum. It was a long held plan of the Holy Prophet and founder of the faith, Mathurin Hossenfeffer, to create this new realm as a lynchpin and centre for the whole faith. Sanguis Astroism is one of the largest religions on the continent, and also has the most theocracies dedicated to its worship. It is hoped to become a centre for worship to the Bloodstars, and to be neutral ground for the other theocracies to work out their differences on neutral ground.

Dragon Rebellion of D'Hara

The rhetoric of this rebellion was the result of a division created in the D’Haran nobility. For several reasons unmentioned here, it was decided by the Dragon Queen Katayanna to abdicate from the throne and lead a colony effort to the mainland past Paisly. At the same time a growing lack of confidence in the sanity of the Dragon Queen, and severe mistrust in her behaviour, led to opposition among the nobles who would remain in D’Hara. After a breakdown in meaningful communication, General Cenarious maneuvered a group of disillusioned nobles into a rebellion to overthrow the Queen. The rebels stated that because the Queen was stealing gold from the realm to found the colony, enough to destroy parent realm of D'Hara, and because of the Queen's recent behaviour against a Duke of renown, they were no longer able to accept her rule. The colonists were not involved in the rebellion and were supported even after the Dragon Queen was overthrown and banned. King Cenarious took the throne of D’Hara and began ordering realm-wide repairs.
