The Libero Empire a realm based in history, looking forward to the future. Centered around the historic Duchy of Springdale, its unity is matched only by the dedication of our nobles. It embodies the lessons of both the Old Empires of Springdale and Morek, two of the founding realms of Dwilight.
Located in a historically volatile region, it is always in need of nobles. Fame, liberty, and honor await those who swear to a lord of Libero Empire.
Culture
We are a realm that has striven to be a cultural center upon Dwilight with many intellectuals residing within its borders. In some ways, Libero Empire is a northern version of Pian en Luries with our emphasis on culture. The nobles of Libero Empire have a demonym (are known as) of Liberates.
Imperial Ideals
Having gone through many shifts in the politics of northeast Dwilight, Libero Empire has taken the time to learn the lessons of their past.
Honor has always been a paramount virtue of our land. When one swears an oath, it is to be kept whether one agrees with the decisions of their lord or not. Oaths are to be kept by both lord and knight are go both ways. This was demonstrated when Springdale Duchy changed allegiance to Morek and the lords and knights remained true to their word. It was demonstrated yet again when Springdale Duchy seceded to form the realm of Libero Empire. Both times, there were disagreements with the action, but the realm's loyalty and honor was preserved.
Another ideal of the realm is religious pluralism, learned from Springdale Empire. This is to be contrasted with the fanatic religious singularity of Donghaiwei Duchy. This eventually led to both duchies leaving Morek due to years of disagreement on the matter.
Similar, and probably the most important, virtues are openness and liberty, also from Springdale Empire. These also contributed to the split. Donghaiwei was a closed duchy of councils and mistrust; as original duchy of Morek, they dominated the politics. Springdale Duchy felt persecuted for this and the above reason. Libero Empire has councils, but the difference is that nobles frequently petition for more knowledge of events and it is provided. The council members are also at liberty to share current discussions with the realm. Nobility remain free to run their own affairs and be knowledgeable of internal and external events.
However, lessons were also gained from Morek. The importance of foreign trade and importance of religion was gained. Diplomacy, through frequent internal discussions within Morek, was gained as well. These are things that Springdale Empire had lacked as it remained relatively isolationist and religion was ignored. Overall, these can be summarized as a focus on external affairs and involvement in Dwilight politics.
It was also while under Morek we gained our intellectual atmosphere. Duke Sammael Haine began Dwilight University while a member of Morek and it grew to include universities in numerous regions of Springdale, Donghaiwei, and Flowrestown duchies. It is true there were intellectual pursuits within Springdale Empire, but it was under Morek and Duke Sammael that it grew to a pervasive element of our culture
To summarize, Libero Empire strives for honor, openness, liberty, involvement in Dwilight affairs, and intellectual pursuit.
Post-Secession Values
It was after the War of Allison that Libero Empire began to trust itself far more than its allies due to the betrayal of their allies, and long-time friends, Raivan Empire.

Triumvirate Alliance
An alliance of Raivan Empire and Libero Empire(Twin Empires), along with Aquilegia. Built to defend themselves from Allison Kabrinski and Xinhai, resulting in War of Allison. It broke apart when Libero Empire realized the Raivan Empire and Aquilegia were not working together as agreed upon before the war.

Year Three
Nifel Peninsula Watched
As discussions with surrounding realms continued, the Titans began punishing the usurping northern realms through bolting King Joash Hamarson of Summerdale and King Kevlen Salda. This was followed by the discovery that judge and banker of Summerdale were witches (ooc: multi-cheaters). By this time, only two nobility remained in Thulsoma and watches were instituted to watch Summerdalian, Thulsoman, and rogue military movements and regional conditions.
New Monarch and Growth of Royal Family
Soon, Queen Alanya was reported missing. No one knew what had happened, even Royal Marshal Sejieda. This was followed by her abdication and the realm threw their support behind Royal Marshal Sejieda without any opposition. Partway through the election, the Royal Marshal made contact with the Queen and learned that she was pregnant. Announcing that they had privately married with the Royal Justiciar Rohk and Royal Treasurer Marco as witnesses, he simultaneously announced that Queen Alanya had gone ill due to pregnancy. With priests divining the birth of twins, a boy and a girl, Sejieda announced that the boy would be named Dante, in honor of Edward Raiva who was raised by his Uncle Dante, and the girl would be named Zyrrin, in honor of former Duchess Zyrrin Fallan of Springdale. On March 27, 2010, Sejieda was elected King by a 75% vote.
King Sejieda's Reforms
With his election, King Vita updated the border signs to be more welcoming, updated the realm summary to be more up to date, and wrote the first ruler bulletin to include an explanation of the banner's symbolism as well as relations with various realms. Most significantly, he allowed elections for lordships, but with emphasis that appointments should continue as norm.

| I have implemented a change to allow lords to vote for new lordships. I would stress that appointments are still expected and are no way in conflict of the election. The election, by all lords, serves multiple purposes. First, it allows dukes and the King to consider, based on past elections, those who have support for different regions. They don't have to take this into account, but it gives them the option and added knowledge. Secondly, if an appointment hasn't occurred in the several days it takes for an election to run, it allows the Council of Lords to select their peer and keep the realm well-maintained in the case of a duke or King unable or unwilling to appoint a lord. | |

Northern Expansion Resumes
Soon, efforts returned to the north. Ambassador Rohk Darksun sought out sentiments of neighboring realms and offers of surrender were offered. Both Thulsoma, under King Kevlen Saldak, and Summerdale, under King Joash Hamarson, rejected them. Yet the Gods punished their councils for various reasons such as attempting to merge, witchcraft (ooc: multi-cheating), and defying the Gods' Will. Shortly after Torrents Breath went rogue from Thulsoma, Thulsoma became possessed by merely one noble, Haruka Vanimedle'. As sole holder of titles in Thulsoma, she defied Libero Empire's Offer of Surrender and imported more nobility. She also angered many of her theocratic neighbors.
Libero Empire moved to take Torrents Breath. Count Marco Goodman of Rye was going to be its next lord with Walter Crawford as Rye's next lord. However, King Sejieda was busy tending to Queen Alanya's needs and Walter was elected by the referendum, the first need for it on its first usage. Count Marco issued no objections and Count Walter's reign over Torrents Breath began peacefully.
Eventually, under Ambassador Rohk's recommendation, war was issued under the declaration, Notice of Eviction from Storms Keep. Soon, Haruka offered a duel over the future of Storms End and Storms Keep, which King Sejieda informed her was being contemplated. However, he was rudely insulted when she launched a surprise attack on Torrents Breath, Massacre of Raiding Thulsoman Archer Horde, and demanded compensation before accepting the duel. Fortunately, the battle illustrated the complete lack of military thought on behalf of Thulsoma. Tense relations continued as war seemed as if it would return with compensation being refused and the terms of the duel changing from the original offer. However, with a renewed offer of surrender from King Sejieda, talks over the details of a surrender began.
