Background

It has been several years since the heyday of the original Lemon Fame, and since then many new fame points have come into being, ready to be discovered by a new set of eager players! In light of this, Tom has decided to launch a contest to help aid the discovery of the new fame points - with a prize of two weeks worth of free goodies for the winner! Here's Tom's declaration in full:

"We had an intriguing thing there with LemonFame. Too bad it's not been updated in years.

So... I'd like to write out a little contest.

First one to find out 5 or more fame points not yet on the wiki as of today (22/03/2006) will get two weeks of free goodies.

That'd bring the known total to 40, and still leave 8 mystery points." - Tom

If you want to get stuck in immediately, scroll down the page now!

Known Fame Points

Currently 35 Fame points have been discovered out of a maximum of 48. The high score for fame is currently 38 points. Here is what we already know about fame points at the launch of this campaign:

Offices

Events

Prestige

  • Individual Prestige: 3 points possible
    • 10: 1 point
    • 20: 1 point
    • 50: 1 point
  • Family Prestige: 3 points possible
    • 20: 1 point
    • 50: 1 point
    • 100: 1 point

There are also 3 fame points relating to Heroes who are 'legendary'. The exact requirements are unknown, but it likely has something to do with Prestige. The Hero can give the family up to 3 fame points at death.

Confirmed not to give Fame

  • Involvement in a Large Battle
  • Moving the Family Mansion
I believe it was a known fact previously that moving your family mansion to the capital of your character's realm gave 1 fame? --Kristian 24 March 2006 00:47 (CET)
Well I believed just moving your family mansion anywhere got you fame. It got me a fame point a while back. Anyway it said on the Fame page that the Mansion Point no longer counted, but I see someone other than Tom wrote that. Hmm... - Revan April 4, 2006 22:17 (CEST)
  • Leading Rebellions
  • Retreiving Bounties
  • Runner-up at a Tournament
  • Having had a character in a now deceased realm
  • If you have started a Guild you definitely don't get another 2 points for starting a religion. My 1 character started a Guild and we were awarded 2 points. My other started a Religion and nothing. Priest game is still interesting and Im sure there is fame to be gained there. I'll speculate more about those possibilities as they open up for me and I'll keep a watch on my total as it grows.-Tsubaki April 20,2006

Avenues of Investigation

Lately, Tom has been making the Battlemaster experience even more dynamic and pleasurable than it ever was at the time of the original LemonFame. Thus many new possibilities exist as to what could give fame. Here are a few possibilities from myself. Feel free to add more so more may be investigated by the community!

  • Five Bans or more on one Continent?
  • Leader of a Religion whose influence has spread across the entire continent?
  • Leader of a Guild whose influence has spread across the entire continent?

These are worth investigating. --Tom 15:12, 23 October 2006 (CEST)

Roy's Guesses

Okay, here's some of my guesses based upon my own account, which currently has 5 fame points which are still unknown.

  • 10 local lord appointments (Positions can be shared over different characters. Dukeships don't count towards this)
  • Council position held by same character in more than one realm. (ie Judge in Realm X, then Banker in Realm Y)
This is probably not allowed, so I don't think it would give fame. Fredrich 21:12, 11 August 2006 (CEST)
Why not allowed? --The1exile 21:40, 11 August 2006 (CEST)
I think Fredrich is confused perhaps. Basically what Roy meant was that you may get a fame point for having a single character who has held council positions in more than one realm. Like Sera has been Ruler in Giblot, and a general in Toren for instance (though I have not gotten any fame for doing that so perhaps we can rule this guess out?) - Revan 22:08, 11 August 2006 (CEST)
  • Character in a realm for over 365 days.
  • Region commandership on at least 3 different islands.
I've held region commandership on 3 different islands for several months and never received a fame point. - Arete Oct 28, 2006 17:25 (GMT -5)
  • Having two characters in warring realms.
You mean warring against each other or what? - Revan April 4, 2006 22:17 (CEST)
  • Character still alive after 18 months
  • Having a character being a senior member in more than one guild. Maybe at senior level at least three guilds actually - that would make it more exclusive, and my character would still qualify for it.
  • Having played at least 5 characters. (this one's purely a guess, but you never know, Tom might appreciate character rotation, and the more members of your family there have been in the world, the more famous it would be...)
Nope, i have played 5 characters.--Twinblade 04:01, 17 June 2006 (CEST)
  • Combined age of characters over 100 years. (Again, another wild shot in the dark, but at least this one should be vaguely easy to prove/disprove)
  • I was wondering about age myself-perhaps if one of your characters reaches a certain age or perhaps even if its that you have a hero who reaches a certain age? Tsubaki

--Roy 23 March 2006 19:23 (CET)

These are mostly wide misses. --Tom 15:12, 23 October 2006 (CEST)

Paying Prison Ransom?

I just got a fame point and the only thing i did was let my family pay my character's prison ransom... - Shoenaemaeh 4 April 2006 19:18 (CEST)

Should be easy to confirm, I've already paid a ransom, but any new players, keep an eye out.

mcsporran 13:55, 12 May 2006 (CEST)

Nope, had my family pay the ransom with Talles to leave Yssarian Prisons, no fame.--Twinblade 04:01, 17 June 2006 (CEST)

Leading forces in Battle?

Just gained one fame unexpectedly. The best thing I can figure is that I lead forces in battle for the first time, and our side won:

Doyle, the Minister of Defense of Lasanar, Count of Hosiel, Marshal of the army of Ozrat takes command of the attacker forces. - Drake

This looks interesting. Can anyone else help investigate this claim? - Revan April 4, 2006 22:17 (CEST)
I may be able to confirm this in a few days...if we win... ~ Filador July 7, 2006
  • I've marshaled a fair share of major battles and didn't get any fame for it.
Definitely not. I've marshaled a few battles now, including a huge battle of 23K vs 20K, and no fame increase. --Indirik 20:52, 23 August 2006 (CEST)

There is something here, you should check more carefully. Indirik: Remember that fame points are not granted retroactively, so you might have had your battle before those points were introduced. When it comes to fame, the argument "I did this and didn't get fame" doesn't always stand. --Tom 15:12, 23 October 2006 (CEST)
My marshalling of battles has all been pretty recent, within the last three months. Say, August and September 2006. I suppose my battles may not have been big enough. Or perhaps the point was added late September. Or perhaps even that the battles didn't meet some specific criteria, such as a city assault, smashing victory, or perhaps that we didn't use Marshal formations. So, yes, there is a lot of leeway in it. That's good to know. --Indirik 17:04, 23 October 2006 (CEST)

Shadows guesses

Im pretty sure you get a point for killing a Hero. I believe you can get up to three points for having a hero die in battle depending on how long the hero has been around and hon/prest. Perhaps it has something to do with heroes being of a legendary status? Having a hero survive for over a year - not to sure on this one, but it would account for the random points i picked when Tom updated the system. Will try to add more later :) Shadow - May 11th

  • Nope I've had a hero survive for over a year, and no fame point for me :(
I've recently picked up another point, that I have no idea what for, and it would roughly correspond to a year after I switched to Hero, can't think of any else they may of triggered the point. mcsporran 13:53, 12 May 2006 (CEST)
I believe when the first time a hero in your family gets killed you get one point and then three when a second gets killed. Can anyone confirm this?--Twinblade 04:01, 17 June 2006 (CEST)
No, Batman on Atamara was my first hero to Die and I jumped from 26 to 29 fame points.----Morgoth 04:31, 18 June 2006 (CEST)

Guild Members?

I just got a point of fame and the only thing that changed was the 10th person joined my guild --Torin 04:18, 18 May 2006 (CEST)

Fines?

I got a point of fame the day I got my first ever fine. --Neoro 07:03, 18 May 2006 (CEST)

Nope, been fined lotsa times :)--Twinblade 04:01, 17 June 2006 (CEST)

Revan's Guesses

I in the last day or two got an extra fame point. The only notable things I have done in that time is win three consecutive battles in the same region in the Colonies, and converted a Region to 100% belief in Hedonism. Anyone else got a fame point from the same phenomena? - Revan 11:49, 29 May 2006 (CEST)

Council Fame Point

Just got a new fame point when I was elected as Banker. The only thing that makes sense about it in my family history is that this is the fifth separate time that I got ELECTED to a Council Position in a single realm. - Revan 11:37, 1 June 2006 (CEST)

If it's your first Banker position, then yes you'll get a fame point for it. --Neoro 17:05, 1 June 2006 (CEST)
I already have that fame point. This is the third time I've been elected as a banker - Revan 17:23, 1 June 2006 (CEST)

Sangue's comments and guesses

My Hero was a hero for only a few hours before he was killed in battle. I still earned 3 fame points from his death. He had 153 honor and 55 prestige.

I am pretty sure you gain a point of fame for being the noble who starts a successful colony TO. Sangue started the colony TO of Kalmar on EC. As soon as the TO was complete and the new realm formed, I had a new fame point. Sangue - June 9th

Looking at the newer guess. I would have to say most likely the honour limit is either family 300-350 or individual 150. It would make up for 1 or the two I dont have a clue about.

The marshall leading into battle Idea Tom seemed to hint at having a possibility of existing. But he has also said that no one had gained the in battle fame point yet. Sangue - Nov 10th

Antiphone Fame

  • 1 point for your first banning from a realm (possibly only for infiltrators).
No, I just got banned from my first realm (as an Infil), no fame here. ~ Filador
I just received my first banning from a realm as a non-infil and I didnt get any fame either - Revan 22:08, 11 August 2006 (CEST)
  • 1 point for 700 days consecutive in one realm.
No, I've had a char in a realm for nearly 1000 days now and no fame.

Bounties

A character in Perdan had a bounty put on him by my character (also in Perdan), and he seemed to gain a fame point after it. Perhaps it a fame point comes from having a bounty put out on you, or perhaps an in-realm bounty put on you? --Kag 07:21, 8 July 2006 (CEST)

Serko had a 1000 gold bounty on his head for several months before it was collected. It could account for a missing point of fame. Loren

I had a bounty on myself from someone and I got 1 fame. Tyndareus_Family

A link between bounties and fame might be worth to investigate. Especially when you think about what bounties express. --Tom 15:12, 23 October 2006 (CEST)
This one will be easy to varify under a systematical investigation... -- Gsklee 05:19, 24 October 2006 (CEST)
A link? What do bounties represent? Someone's deep hatred of you and that an assassin is going to be showing up in your tent at night. Perhaps the fame is for being seriously wounded by an infiltrator? Fredrich 23:30, 28 October 2006 (CEST)

Deportation

Deportation of a character may trigger a point of fame, or is a shared point with executions. Loren

Lordships

Here's a wild shot in the dark: Holding one of each region lord position. (Baron, Count, Marquis, Duke) Player histories were changed at one point to specify which title was gained rather than the general "command" position. Fredrich 03:06, 3 October 2006 (CEST) :As a side note, I think the individual prestiege is 25, not 20.

Nope to the prestige. It's definitely 20. --The1exile 17:53, 3 October 2006 (CEST)

Steve's guesses

  • 2 for starting your first guild (Confirmed)---May also count for the religion fame points
  • 2 for starting a religion(Confirmed)---May also count for the Guild fame points
  • 1 for winning a death duel(confirmed)
  • I'm almost positive you get 1 fame for leading a ~successful~ rebellion
My character Xerxes led a rebellion in the Sanctum of Casshern on the FEI in October 2006 and I don't seem to have gotten any fame for it. According to my family page, I had 19 fame before the rebellion and I still have 19 fame. The Sanctum of Casshern only had three regions though - perhaps one needs to rebel in a sufficiently large realm? - Mcglynn 23:05, 25 October 2006 (CEST)
I believe this was confirmed. Also, if you didn't get one, then there probably has to be a decent amount of loyalists for it to be worth the fame point. - Steve2609 22:58, 25 October 2006
Perhaps. There was precisely one loyalist: the ruler. I suppose a requirement for a certain number of loyalists might have been put in to prevent people from abusing the system and trying to get everyone in the realm a fame point for leading a rebellion. - Mcglynn 03:10, 27 October 2006 (CEST)
  • As a guess, I'd say 1 for 10,000 family gold
  • Another guess would be 1 for each Lord title, so 1 for Baron, 1 for Count, 1 for Marquis, and 2 for duke
I currently have a Count and a Baron, but only received 1 fame point, so no. - Arete Oct 28, 2006 17:33 (GMT -5)
  • Maybe 1 was added for a high amount of honor(200,250, 300)
  • Maybe 1 for 500 or more total family honor
  • Death of a hero(amount varies(prestige based?) or is unconfirmed, 1-3 fame I think)
  • Remaining exiled for a long period of time. (more than 4 weeks?)----(Exile is the new ruler option. I looked at it and thought it might be worth a fame point.)
I doubt this exile one, since exile is a newer feature than the new fame points. (Plus it's a ripoff of my online alias <grins>) --The1exile 21:09, 15 October 2006 (CEST)
I figured as much, but I thought I'd toss the idea out there anyway. -- Steve2609 15 Oct. 2006
  • I feel like this has to be one, and I feel stupid for not thinking about it sooner. 1 fame for founding a new realm

There are errors in the above numbers, but some of the items are correct. Check the numbers and you might find another 2-3 fame points. --Tom 15:12, 23 October 2006 (CEST)

zmobiebob's guesses

  • Executing 3 or more prisoners? (Or maybe that's Infamy)
  • Building a temple of a certain (large) size?

House Olik 06:05, 25 October 2006 (CEST)

Shadows guesses mk2

i said i would have another go at this at a later date so here it goes...

  • 1 point for having 70% skill in Swordsmanship/Jousting/Infitraiting (only 1, not 1 each)

- A further 2 points if you have had characters with 70% skill in all three

  • 1 point for slaying a hero in battle (i am almost certain about this, i have heard the same thing from so many people during the SEI wars...)

- on that note i believe to achieve "Legendary Status" your character must have lived as a hero for over a year and must have 50 honour/20 prestige in order to meet those requirements

See this section, it more or less proves that the 1 year as hero bit is wrong. --The1exile 22:44, 27 October 2006 (CEST)
I know from experience that the one year thing isn't true. My character Sargon died a legend (three fame points) and he had only been around for a little over 4 months. --Kag 04:43, 22 November 2006 (CET)
  • 1 Point for being elected for the same council position 3 times (a shot in the dark however there is evidence to support this)
  • 1 point for being the soul survivor on the battlefield in a massive battle (50000+ cs the combined strength of both armies)
  • 1 point for having a character over the age of 50 (shouldnt be to hard to confirm but might take some time :P)
  • 1 point Moving family house to a new location using the hero ability
Think this has been confirmed not to give fame. --The1exile 22:44, 27 October 2006 (CEST)
  • 1 point having a character in a realm for 500 days

(I got a fame when my first character became 500 days old (he was deported during the time though, so not in one realm). It was also the 500th day my account existed.) Nylen 12:03, 1 November 2006 (CET)

  • 1 point for still being a member of your realm until it was officially disbanded (total guess but possible)

thats all for now :) Shadow 27 Oct 2006

You have something with the skills there that is worth investigating further. --Tom 13:38, 1 November 2006 (CET)

Arete

I just got 2 fame points in one day, and none of the confirmed sources of fame happened. Several things did happen, however.

  • In realm/game for 125 days.
  • Held 3 region lordships simultaneously for 20 days.
  • Held region lordship for 50 days.
  • One of my skills (buro) reached 50%.
  • Recruited unit with over 500 CS.

The following seem even less likely, but they also happened...

  • Got a new student. This new student brings my total number of current students to 5 (for the first time) and the total number of students both current and past to... something more than 5. I suppose either could be a possibility, but I doubt it.
  • I changed a class. From buro to soldier, which lowered the number of buros in the realm to an amount the realm can handle without penalty. Again, I doubt its worth a fame point, but it happened.
  • I announced my candidacy for council. I doubt messaging can get you fame, but perhaps if enough people switch their votes in a single turn or something.
  • My trader entered a region with monsters, alone (no unit, and no other TLs). This is the third time he has done that. I wouldn't give a fame point for it, but it does seem kinda daring for a trader.

Like I said, none of these seem very likely to me, but I thought I'd mention them just in case.

Efraz: Commagene Family

I have got 2 points of fame recently that I am sure I did not get them for the "known fame points" Only things I have done was... joining a tournament, training and showing off. And very recently my family honour was 250 in total... And It might be a specific time for me being in a command position... so my guesses:

  • Teshup has reached %50 sword skill and showed off in a tourney... I think this is worth a fame point.
  • Reaching 250 honor total.
  • Being in council for a specific amout of time... I will calculate this but it seems like 7 months for me: Maybe 200 days?
  • Being a count for a specific amount of time... 250 days in my example...

Shadow-Stalker Family

I recently got two fame points, but the only things I have done that might give fame are:

  • One character changed from a mentor to a hero (still had 1 student under her when she changed)
  • One character changed from Soldier to Cavalier
  • One character gave away 20% of her tax in oaths, both were accepted (maybe giving 10% of your tax, or maybe a certain amount from tax gives fame?)
  • One chracter returned from a tournament with over 600 people in it (although he lost in the first round of both events)
  • May have got beurocratic skill to a high level (need to check)

Eirik's guesses

  • to found an army (with X soldiers?)
