  On a cold winter day Gamerk went on the hunt. He slew group after group of undead, his blows always landing true. Near the end of his last battle an Undead Champion appeared before him. The two became deadlocked in an epic battle until Gamerk finial decapitated the Champion. Seeing their leader dead the others fled.

    As Gamerk was about to leave he noticed something on the Champion's person, a shield of some kind. He yanked the item away and searched for an historian to tell him about his prize. The man he found justed looked at the shield and shrugged.

It had served in many historic engagements against the undead hordes. It became cursed when the Dukes of Joppo began worshiping the undead, the Sages cursed the heirloom to bring doom to any Duke of that line. As the Dukes began to die off they hid the Buckler in their vaults.
