The Enchanted Nightblade of Suffering (Prestiege +5)

History Books of the Undead

Originally forged in the mines of Nightscree for the Unholy God-King Yar D'Ghoul, the sword was wrested from the hand of the Undead Lord by the famed Hero Gilgamesh at the battle of Binoaramet deep within the Swamp of Woe. The sword fell into the swamp and was not seen or heard of for many a millenium. Indeed, the blade passed from a recent memory, to a fabled legend.

Some claim to have seen the blade from time to time over the centuries, but none have been able to substantiate this claim. Perhaps the blade had disappeared, or perhaps texts will be found in the future. However, the blade seemed to be lost for good.

Until now.

One dark evening, Ares Audax, the bold and brave commoner of Enweil, having traveled long to find an army worthy of his skill. Finding that very contingent proved difficult, and it was not until a month after his journey began, after nearly 500 miles of journey, that our scarred warrior arrived in Xween to find a Massive undead army ravaging the countryside. With no nobles to help them, the weak commoners of the rural region cried out for a savior. That day, Ares Audax was divine providence. Marching one against hundreds, one man against an innumerable hoard of undead minions, ghouls, zombies, Helldogs, and finally, their champion, Ares Audax prevailed. Slightly scratched he emerged above the piles of rubble, dust, and bone to raise the axe high. Seeing the inscription upon the golden handle (and not being able to read), our hero sought out the nearest sage in the city of Eno. It was there that the story of the blade passed from the history books of the undead, and enters the legends of man.

If wielded properly, the blade is rumored to dance of its own will, the bearer lost in a bloodstricken craze. The blade slaughters and screams all the while, drowning out the cries of the maimed warriors beneath it's razor sharp edge. A noble who wields this weapon should do so with great care, as it's power consumes both on and off the field of battle.

Legends of Man
