Talk:Realm Pages

I got to thinking that putting realms underneath each other for each continent is going to make this page waaay too long once were all done and leave a hell of alot of white space to the side. It didnt seem as bad on the old tiki...

So I just tried out a table for Atamara, and it doesnt look to bad. It's easy to add a realm to if you need to. It seems to look a little more organised and fills up the width of the page more aswell. Anyone have any thoughts on this? --Revan August 7, 2005 02:18 (CEST)

I like all the changes. Am I to assume that Portion (being italicised) is a Lost Realm? I like that stylistic note. I'll make those changes across the board and see how it looks. --John 7 August 2005 02:26 (CEST)

Hmm, well I did that because it was made much clearer in the table. But looking at Portion in Colonies it actually helps to make the Lost Realms stand out more, provides a contrast? I'll go change it --Revan August 7, 2005 03:02 (CEST)

I was going to add the new realm Colasan in the Far East, but I can't seem to find how to edit the table...maybe any of you can add it for me? (or at least direct me to how to add it myself?)--J 15:45, 28 December 2006 (CET)

Subpages

I'm not so sure about using subpages here. People will be searching for the realms by name, and if we give them their own pages, they will be brought straight to that page instead of a "search results" page.

Subpages are useful for things that really do belong together, essentially stuff that might have been written on one page as well. I don't think they're useful here.

Hmm well now I tried a search, I think I agree with you completely on that point. I just searched for Giblot and the first 8 results were our Newspaper, not our realm page. That would probably get worse the more pages you have about your realm :\ --Revan August 7, 2005 11:38 (CEST)

I started using sub-pages because of the South Islands. It would not be difficult to change back now, but we'd better do it soon.

Searches should not be a problem, though. As near as I can tell, the wiki search page orders searches by the number of links to a page. The reason Colonies/Giblot appears so far down the page is that fewer pages link to it than The Gestapo Gazette and its collective sub-pages.

I think it might be useful to continue using the subpages, but it won't bother me at all if we don't. --John 7 August 2005 16:45 (CEST)

You mentioned having many pages for a single realm, so I'm assuming you're going to have things like history pages, rules pages etc. Are you wanting subpages like Colonies/Giblot and then have everything on that page, or Colonies/Giblot/Topic for any topic, or cut the colonies and just have it Giblot/Topic? --DorianGray 1 September 2005 13:12 (CEST)

Templates

Realm

I have copied/pasted those nice looking Realm InfoBoxs into a template called RealmInfobox. Have a look at Luz de Bia to see how it is done. Any enhancements/changes should be carefully done to this template. Shall I make something similar for regions? --Jeremy Van Veelen 20 Jan 2006 12:25 (PST)

Region

Avalon is missing

The realm of Avalon from Beluaterra is missing in the realm page. Avalon is only 11 days old, but it exists! =P I tryed to add the realm to the list but i didn't know how to do it... Shoenaemaeh 31 August 2005 14:58 (CEST)

Your wish is my... well, not command. More like suggestion. ;) The realm lists are templates, so I had to edit the individual template. You may want to click the edit link, and find the templates at the bottom, just to see how it works. --John 31 August 2005 15:27 (CEST)

Region Pages

Quite a few people/realms have started making region pages, but there doesn't seem to be a standard way of doing it (at lest on this page). I saw a message a while back on a different page that suggested the namespace Continent/Region. Is this the "offical" way of doing it? Almost everytime I've seen a region link it's been Realm/Region. As was mentioned on that other page that I saw, regions change hands due to being Taken Over, plus it just not being "correct". Any advice on this would be helpful. ~ Marc J. I think Tom himself said that Region Pages should be Continent/Region - Though I always thought that was rather impractical and impedes Roleplay in Regions as they change hands so often :| But Hey! Who am I to disagree... - Revan December 23, 2005 20:42 (CET)
