Family origin
House Velaryon originates from the city of Madina on Madina Isle on the continent of Dwilight. Family chronicles mention that the family home moved a lot, but the foundation of their power never left the untamed lands of Dwilight. Velaryons rose from the ashes of greatness of the Kings of old as they claim ancient ties to the great House Arrakis. Competitive branches engorged with deadly ambition vie for power within the family. The dominant powers are the Boreean branch, silver-haired and fair, rumored to be the descendants of Boreal the Great, Conqueror of Western Dwilight and the founder of Niselur, who bathe their children in the Silver Temple of Darfix which grants them unusually silver hair, and the Laenorran branch, which acquired power to rise from the wealth of the merchant prince Laurentius the Gilded who ran a lucrative trading enterprise in southern Dwilight.
The motto of the House is "Against the Storm", the crest depicting the eternal golden sun on a white-azure background.
Members
Over the years the members of House Velaryon were many, but the family chronicles have preserved significant records of only the most notable family members.
