Hyral Family Line

The Hyral Family originated in Mraulaxon, Sartania on the Far East Island. There are two branches of the Hyral Family; the main branch is headed by Braga Hyral, and the side branch is headed by his younger brother, Brena Hyral. All of the Hyral children have since left the homestead for other lands.

The Main House

Baiko: She is the “elder” of the twins. Growing up in Sartania, she spent much time at prayer in the temple of Sartan. Her life was plain and unexciting until a young man named Hireshmont Vellos surfaced among the nobles. Eventually the they began a sect called the True Sartanians, devoted to the true ways of the God of War. It was during this time that Hireshmont had a vision, in this vision the God of War, Sartan, did battle with his younger brother, Qyrvagg, a demi-god. Sartan fell and Qyrvagg rose to power. Hireshmont became the first Prophet of Qyrvagg. The group was eventually found out and banished from the theocracy for blasphemy.

Baiko fled to Lasanar, and after a relatively short stay, she headed to Valentia, Beluaterra upon receiving news of the arrival of the Third Prophet, Amekal Vellos. Betrayal and misfortune awaited Baiko and Amekal in Valentia, the pair soon left to the southern lands of Riombara.

In Riombara Baiko received her first title, Marchioness of Avengmil. The peace and stability of Riombara came to an end with war against Luz de Bia, and the succession of the southern Duchy of Irombro. Baiko gave up her title and joined the newly formed Irombrozia, there she served short terms as Regent and terms of varying length as Royal Arbitress and First Lance.

Her personality is somewhat twisted. While immensely dedicated to what she considers to be a noble cause, her drive to have Irombrozia attain full independence from Riombara almost goes to the point of crazed obsession. No plan is too risky, no sacrifice too great. She can be arrogant, sarcastic, deceptive, extremely stubborn and rarely shows compassion or warmth. Everything she does centers around Irombrozia and Irombrozia alone. She holds a seething disdain for Riombara, and the War of Irombrozian Secession is recognized as the death of her more amiable traits.

Baiko met her end in battle, on the tenth day of the seventh month of the year 1009, in the Irombrozian province of Rii. In her will she wished for the ashes of her funeral pyre to be scattered to the sea outside Irombro, and left Kuro, her stalwart companion, in the care of Scurtingbord Sworde.

  • Class: Hero
  • Weapons: Lances and various polearms.
  • Eyes: Golden-brown
  • Hair: Long and dark, always tied back with a red cord.
  • General Appearance: Typically adorns the traditional clothing of her homeland, feminine and proud of it.
  • Other: She only drinks tea, detests alcohol and most men. She is a member of the Church of Qyrvagg and is most assuredly a "cat person".
  • Pet: A black fox name Kuro.

Keiichi: She is the “younger” of the twins. Unlike her pious sister, Keiichi desired more than anything to learn the way of the warrior. Against her father’s wishes, Keiichi’s older brother taught her to use a sword. After a larger-than-usual argument with her father (over an arranged marriage, incidentally), Keiichi left Mraulaxon in anger, hopping on the first ship to Atamara.

Upon arriving in the port of Ser’quea in the Ash Sea Islands, Keiichi swore allegiance to the Duke of Aja and began her life as a soldier. After many a great war, ASI reclaimed the islands regions and Keiichi was appointed Marchioness of Worav, serving loyally under the Arch Priest and Duke, Moses McGahee. After the fall of the Ashlantean kingdom, she traveled north to Darka with her longtime friend Malice Osha, and from there to Irombrozia, Beluaterra. After meeting another lost comrade, Puck Goodfellow, at a tournament in the Kingdom of Alluran they traveled north to the realm of Mesh.

During one of the Atamaran wars, Keiichi meet a knight of allied Falasan, Omerus Killins, and fell in love. The two were engaged to be married, but Omerus mysteriously disappeared and, after many years, was assumed to be dead. An adventurer by the name of "Keichus" was said to be their child.

  • Class: Hero
  • Weapons: Mraulaxon Broad Sword
  • Eyes: Black
  • Hair: Her usual long, dark hair is currently cropped short above the shoulders to, she reasons, "suit her personality better".
  • General Appearance: Wears plain clothing, consisting of sleeveless shirts and loose-fitting pants, typically with a unique sleeveless overcoat-like garmet on top, due to her time serving in the desert of Aja her skin is slightly tanned.
  • Other: Loves to drink, fight, and have fun. Although she does have her serious moments, Keiichi typically laughs at everything and generally acts like a teenager, albeit a violent and slightly foul tongued one. Mapan Ale is her drink of choice. She is not particularly girlish, and hates being called “dame”. Although strong in character and spirit Keiichi has three intolerable fears, including oceans(1), healers(2), and goats(3).
  • Pet: A mischievous and luckless fox named Kaya, with whom Keiichi seems to hold conversations, though it is unclear how well they actually communicate.

Keiichi met her end in battle, on the tenth day of the seventh month of the year 1010 (a year to the day after the fall of her twin), battling daimons in the Meshian city of Twillen. Her last will was never found, those who know her say she probably couldn't be bothered to write such a troublesome thing.

Seri: She is the only daughter of one of Baiko and Keiichi's cousins. Her grandmother, Lady Hyral's older sister, was sent to live at the main house to keep watch over her sister's marriage. Her relationship with Braga was strained at best, but being widowed early in her own marriage, she was accepted as an honorary member of the House, thus giving her children and grandchildren the more prestigious Hyral name. Seri shares her grandmother's tendency towards observation, and thus started her career in regional maintenance as a courtier in Caligus, on the East Island.

  • Class: Courtier
  • Weapons: -
  • Eyes: Greyish-brown
  • Hair: Long, wavy brown
  • General Appearance: Her features lean more towards her mother's family than those of the Hyral family, with her slight curls and strong nose setting her apart from her more delicate, ebony haired cousins. Seri prefers the practicality of trousers and long tailed coats, but skillfully adds feminine touches in the trim and accessories to avoid appearing too masculine.
  • Other: Seri is calm and collected, but is said to be possessed of dull eyes and a reserved personality. She does, however, have an exceptional, albeit subtly expressed, fondness for white daisies and similar flowers.

The Side Branch

Araia: She is the only child of the head of the side branch, Brena Hyral. Her mother was a native of Sirion who came to the Far East as a bride, dying shortly after the birth of her only child. Araia left the Far East in search of Baiko, but ended up being trained by Keiichi in Aja. She finally made her way “home” to Sirion where she decided to begin her military career. The war with Oligarch was long and bloody which took a toll on the people of her homeland, upon a request from the council she took up what was supposed to be a temporary bureaucratic job as a break from the war. In paperwork she found her calling, and ended up becoming a career bureaucrat in Sirion. For her service she was granted the title Countess of Dolmbar.

As soon as she arrived in Sirion, Araia was greeted by the Lord of Sermbar, Darfix Warrah, and swore allegiance to him. The two became very close and Darfix finally proposed to her, she accepted of course. In hope of being officially married soon, Araia retired from her post in the Arcachon Bureaucratic Corps and set off to the newly colonized continent of Dwilight to be reunited with him.

  • Class: Career Bureaucrat
  • Weapons: Slim sword or Bow
  • Eyes: Dark Green
  • Hair: Long and dark, usually braided but sometimes she leaves it down
  • General Appearance: She is quite beautiful, typically wears dark blue or green dresses of Sirionite design.
  • Other: Araia is the most lady-like of the current generation of Hyrals, and is very kind. She follows the Path of Nature in the faith of the Holy Sacred Grove.
  • Pet: A small brown hawk named Falas, he was purchased by Araia from a Falasan trader in Ash’rily before she departed to the East Island.

Azrea: She is the fourth daughter of the second cousin of Brena's younger sister, who married into little-known but honourable noble house of the Far East. With her mother, father, three sisters, and two brothers, Azrea is the youngest in a family of eight. She was officially adopted into House Hyral by Braga, so she is both a member of the Main and Side branch of the family. Eager to make a name for herself after being overshadowed by her siblings for the early years of her life, she started her career as a knight of Arcaea.

  • Class: Warrior
  • Weapons: -
  • Eyes: Black
  • Hair: Short and dark
  • General Appearance: Of slightly less than average height and build. She wears the traditional clothing of Mraulaxon, altered for convenience and ease of movement, giving her an old-fashioned appearance in contrast with her youthful features and personality.
  • Other: Azrea is somewhat excitable, youthfully energetic, and sociable. Though eager, it seems she is not particularly brave. Her name is a corruption of the flower "Azalea".
