In every land, in every age, there are always tyrants that will prey on those who are weaker than themselves. Given free reign, they will spread their lies across the land. They build empires on a foundation of deceit, manipulation, and boundless ambition. Left unchecked these tyrants will devastate East Island, and all it's inhabitants, in wars without end. The Kingdom of Perdan will not stand idly by while the East Island is led into ruin and destruction. The Rampant Lion will stand forth as a beacon of truth regarding the travails of Perdan as it seeks to oppose those who would bring destruction upon our lands. As events in Perdan unfold, they will be chronicled here so all people on the East Island have access to an accurate, fair accounting of the events taking place in our world.
The only thing necessary
for the triumph [of evil]
is for good men to do nothing.
- Edmund Burke (attrib.)

Light of Fountain Getting Restless
Rumors arriving from around the island speak of a growing unrest among the upper levels of the government of Light of Fountain. The officials in the government are apparently unhappy about the continuing claims that Caligus still holds on the regions of Tokat, and Sordidus. The government of Caligus has apparently refused to release these claims, stating that the regions were illegitimately seized by Light of Fountain.

This is not the first time that Caligus and Light of Fountain have argued over the ownership of regions along their borders. These two realms have a long history of disagreements in this area. Caligus routinely claims that Light of Fountain was being opportunistic, and picking off border regions one by one, while Caligus' attention was occupied by their war with Yssaria. Light of Fountain, on the other hand, claims that Caligus is reneging on a deal between the two realms where Caligus would transfer the regions in exchange for gold. Where the truth lies, no one knows. However, it is widely reputed that Caligus sold the stronghold of Akesh Temple under the threat of war from Light of Fountain, at a time when Caligus was hard pressed by Yssaria. This amounts to little more than bully tactics on the part of Light of Fountain.

It has become common knowledge that Light of Fountain desires a new city to call their capital. In fact, there is an agreement between Light of Fountain and Fontan where Fontan will help Light of Fountain to find a new city. When that happens, Light of Fountain will return Fontan city to Fontan, from whom they seceded the city many months ago. Since then, Light of Fountain has been attempting to manufacture reasons to attack both Caligus and Perdan in hopes of capturing either Partora or Perdan city itself. Is this recent claims dispute nothing more than another attempt by Light of Fountain to manufacture a new war in order to grab more territory? Or is this merely an indication that Fontan and Light of Fountain are merely two heads of the same hydra, bent on domination of the island for their own mysterious purposes?

If Light of Fountain were really the peaceful realm they claim to be, then would they not seek some peaceful resolution to their differences, rather than looking for ways to legitimize their desire for conquest? A much more desirable approach would perhaps be to offer Caligus something in return for the lifting of the claims, such as a one-time gold payment. Well, as it turns out, our sources tell us that is exactly what happened! Light of Fountain has offered to pay Caligus to remove the claims, but Caligus has refused! We're not sure what game Caligus is playing here. They have no more use for the claims, as it is not likely that Caligus will ever be able to regain control of those regions. Is this merely stubbornness on the part of the Caligans, or do they want more gold that Light of Fountain offered?

With the recent transfer of Lorient to Ibladesh, Perdan has completed its share of the treaty obligations. The last remaining articles of the treaty that are not yet completed are the transfers of Domus and Scio from Caligus to Yssaria. Once those are completed, then all treaty terms will be fulfilled.

Rebellion in Old Rancagua Fails!
It seems that the Loyalist forces in Old Rancagua have managed to fight off the rebels, and retained control of the government. In an odd twist of fate, several of the rebels were struck down by the gods with massive bolts of lightning. The priests declared that the gods were angry with those struck down for their actions leading to the rebellion, and for their motivations in rebelling. With many rebels struck down by the gods themselves, the few remaining rebels were no match for the loyalists.

Rebellion in Old Rancagua!
Rhargec, a noble of Old Rancagua has called for a rebellion against King Dekion and the ruling council of Old Rancagua. Rhargec claims to be the grandson of Charger, a noble who himself lead a rebellion against the government of Old Rancagua. Apparently rebellion runs in the family. Whatver the reason for the rebellion, Rhargec's timing was impeccable. The Old Rancaguan army is currently in Stora, invading Avamar Selective. It will take nearly four days for the Old Rancaguan army to march back to Ashforth. By then, the rebellion will be long over, one way or another.

Region Transfer to Caligus Complete
Today Queen Evangeline has transferred the city of Partora to the control of Caligus. This marks the third and final region transfer from Perdan to Caligus, completing that portion of our treaty obligations. Perdan has now transferred Meuse, Mulhouse, and Partora to Caligus, and received Nascot. With the completion of the region transfers to Caligus, Caligus can now begin transferring regions to Yssaria, starting with Domus and then Scio.

There is now only one region transfer left before Perdan has fulfilled the final term of the peace treaty, that being the transfer of Lorient to Ibladesh.
