The House of Osoro is a long lineage of ruthless pirates who make their fortunes pillaging on the high seas. They trace their roots back to Batesaor, an ancient port city and known pirate haven in the Principality of Zonasa of the Pirate Republic. When the Far East sunk below the waves, the Osoros emigrated to Itau in Dwilight.

However, the most recent generation of Osoros have broken from tradition and have settled into different realms around the world.

Background

History

The House of Osoro traditionally follows the motto "Trust no one. Owe nothing. Never regret." Self-sufficiency, strength, and fearlessness are valued above all else. However, these beliefs haven't been adopted by the latest generation. The last head of the Osoro house was the brutal pirate lord, Captain Oscar Osoro. Oscar has gained infamy for his chilling charisma, unhinged temper, and cruel sense of humor, equally able to charm his enemies and raze entire villages for sport.

At a few different times throughout their history, the Osoros have been legitimate minor nobles and knights, most recently as "privateers" in Batesaor. Batesaor and then Itau were the closest thing to a home region for several generations, but they've been without a base since Duke Aidan MacArbin kicked the pirates out of Itau.

He has two legitimate daughters, Haide and Eztli, who were raised at sea alongside him. Oscar treated them more cruelly than his own men, regarding them as nothing more than a reflection of himself. After believing Haide and Eztli died in a shipwreck, Oscar legitimized his son Acalan in Beluaterra in order to complete a spell for the Void Gods.

After raising an undead army that ravaged Tol Goldora, capturing the Golden Host's Marshal Nalaya Everwind and nearly killing the Goldoran Stratarch Svari Storme, Haide, Nalaya, Tidespeaker Edelyn Luitolf, and Vestarch Calypso Hwitt met Oscar and killed him, the killing blow struck by Nalaya.

Rumors say the Osoros may be related to humans who live near the Zuma, but this is unclear and unproven.

Following Oscar’s death, one of his many illegitimate children—Toci—was able to prove her lineage and raise to nobility. She is the oldest of the legitimized Osoro children.

Iconography

Their coat of arms consists of a field of black with a bend sinister of forest green and a silver bear sejant erect. Family legend says that this imagery comes from their origins millennia ago as bear-hunters, but this has never been proven. Regardless, the House Osoro leans into bear imagery, naming all of their ships and troops "Osos."

Oscar Osoro was known for his Osos Dorados and black sails with a golden bear emblem.

Appearance

Osoros are known for their unruly dark hair, gray-brown eyes, and freckled, brown complexion. Traditionally, all Osoros will have many ear piercings and wear their hair in many small braids or wraps.
