Malice, the Younger

Summary

Born to far flung relations of House Osha, Malice Younger nevertheless proved to be of such ability in early years that his birth name was dispensed with for that of his powerful and distant uncle. Since that fateful moment, various factions with the family have schemed to have Malice declared blood heir to his name sake, though thus far such efforts have been unfruitful. In view of his early promise, it was with shock and horror that the family watched Malice Younger set out to become a noble in Carelia, where the banners flying over Ser'quea serve as grim reminder of one of the worst tragedies to have ever befallen House Osha.

Atamara

Despite Malice' early promise, faced with a strange new continent and the albatross of his uncle's past round his neck, Malice never came close to reaching his true potential. Soon, Malice became known for his somewhat petulant nature and a decadent life style. Eventually, Malice fled Atamara after learning of his uncle's imminent return to restore the value of his name on that continent.

Colonies

Upon arrival back in his home continent, Malice made a beeline for the realm that held sovereignty over House Osha's ancestral lands in Irdalni, Minas Thalion. It was only after arriving that Malice discovered what a bleak and weak realm Minas Thalion truly was. When Irdalni was meekly handed over to Oritolon, Malice decided to follow his birthright.

Malice' arrival in Oritolon coincided with a time of intense inner turmoil. Whilst Malice determinedly held himself aloof from proceedings, watching rulers be protested from office and the machinations of politics and rebellion did much to shake Malice from his youthful immaturity and better focus him on greater endeavours. When Oritolon pulled herself together and set out to reclaim the Duchy of Alowca, Malice was given the honour of lordship over the ancestral lands in Irdalni.

After the eventual reclamation of Alowca, Malice gained a burgeoning reputation for being outspoken on Oritolonian internal matters. Eventually, it would lead to Malice' shock victory in the Prime Ministerial elections on a platform of wide-ranging internal reforms. Soon however, domestic matters took a back seat to a growing diplomatic crisis with neighbouring Minas Thalion. War soon broke out as a result of Minas Thalion's increasingly aggressive actions and her penchant for harbouring the sworn enemies of Oritolon and her allies.

The war with Minas Thalion proved to be the greatest challenge Oritolon had faced since the days of the Twin Theocracies, and was still unresolved when Malice was forced to abdicate months later following an unfortunate hunting accident. Ironically, upon his eventual return to health, Malice was unexpectedly raised to the lordship of Warmanoras, and back to political prominence, upon the anger of the war-weary people of Warmanoras.
