Beginnings in Norland

Asturius' third brother, Laszlo was accepted into the nobility of Norland at a young age. He fought in the Army of Odin's Spear against Minas Ithil and earned a respectable amount of honor and prestige in the process, participating in battles in Mansbridge, Cheltenborne and Winwich. When the Northern Federation dissolved and Norland was treacherously attacked by former allies and meddling outsiders, Laszlo fought against the tide for months before tiring of the hopeless battles. He offered his allegiance to Norland's one time ally Barony of Makar and was accepted as a knight of Executor Ender O'Neill, Duke of Makar.

Career in the Barony of Makar

Soon after joining the Barony, Laszlo decided to retire his sword and take up the pen. Having seen his share of bloody warfare, Laszlo decided to try his hand at trade instead. He first gained some repute as a man willing to sell food to starving people for limited profits. Where he procured this food is a matter of some dispute, but there are many peasants around today who are perfectly willing to live the rest of their short lives without knowing the answer to that question. Having thereby made a name for himself, he was appointed steward of Makar by Duke Ender.

There he also took to other bureaucratic duties, overseeing administration and production in the Duchy of Makar. When Ebbe Tomarsen, the Baron of Jerkel, mysteriously died in his sleep one night, Laszlo requested and was granted the lordship of Jerkel. He continued to exercise his increasing talents at trade and bureaucracy by organizing food deliveries to recently subdued rebel regions and working to improve civic administration in a realm well known for its utter lack of anything civil.

He later ran for and was elected as the Banker of the Barony. When Caergoth subsequently inquired about buying the Barony's food surplus, Laszlo organized the transaction and founded a guild, the Northern Mead Exchange. Today, he mainly concerns himself with seeing to the feeding of the Barony's newly acquired city of Brackhead and keeping the rest of the Barony running while the Makarian Horde is raping and pillaging abroad.

Hammarsett

Laszlo eventually decided to join the realm of Hammarsett, which represented an expansion of Viking culture in the north to replace Norland. He began there as Gestir, or banker. He mainly kept busy keeping the capital city of Shanandoah fed for the months it took to get the realm on its feet. Thereafter things got complicated. Atamara was eventually plunged into war. Hammarsett joined the northern coalition in fighting the Cagilan Empire and its allies Tara, Talerium and Coria. Gains against Coria were negated by a negotiated peace between Eston and Coria and the intervention of Tara. Sometime thereafter, King Regulus stepped down and nominated Laszlo to replace him, a nomination Laszlo accepted. Thereafter there was a stalemate for a time, but now Hammarsett is once again at war with its close neighbor Coria, and also Tara. With a stout new ally in Minas Ithil, it remains to be seen what will become of Hammarsett and the northern alliance as a whole.
