The TattleMaster is BattleMaster's first, and only, OOC newspaper dedicated to discussions about the game of BattleMaster itself. Here you will find information regarding bugfixes, new features, changes in game mechanics, and probably even a few FAQs and interviews.
Lots of Bug Fixes PostedNovember 24, 2008
Many recent bug fixes, including all those made within the past approximately 10 days, have been moved over to the stable islands. If you had previously reported a bug and been told that it was fixed, now is a good time to check to verify that it is fixed. Some of the highlights include fixes to secret societies, guilds, and the caravan system. (Note: the revision number uploaded was 3417, so any bug marked with that revision or less should now be fixed - Danaris)

A Note on Bug FixesNovember 20, 2008
Just a reminder that when a bug is marked "Fixed" or "Resolved" on the bugtracker, and reported here, it is not immediately available in game. It will appear first on the testing islands (FEI, Beluaterra, and Dwilight). After it has been on the testing island, it will eventually be moved over to stable islands. The exact time frame for migrating code to testing, and then to stable is not a fixed period. It may take days, or it may take weeks or months. So please be patient and allow enough time for the code to be updated before reporting the bug again, or reopening that old bug report.

Information About the Recent Network IssuesNovember 2, 2008
There has recently been a sever issue with the DNS system for the battlemaster.org domain. (DNS (or Domain Name System) is how your computer figures out what server to contact when you tell it to go to "battlemaster.org".) Recent problems have caused pretty much every computer in the world to lose the ability to turn the domain name "battlemaster.org" into an IP address that it can use to contact the server. In response Tom paused the game shortly after Friday, October 31st's half turn. (The sunset turn change.) Tom has reported that the NS records for battlemaster.org has already been fixed. It could take a couple days for the records to propagate through the net. There has been no official word from Tom on how long the game will be paused. Personally, I would guess at least another 24 hours. For future reference, the ways to work around this problem can be found here: DNS Solution.

Lots and Lots (and lots more!) Bugs FixedOctober 27, 2008
As you may have noticed from the new login message, there have recently been a lot of bugs fixed. The number fixed is too extensive to list here. (And quite a few of them are very small textual changes, anyway.) One significant bug that has been fixed is the inability to appoint a new duke following a peasant revolt that kicks out the old duke. The bug note says that it will not fix an existing problem with this, but will prevent the situation from happening again.

Congrats to Tom and all the new devs for all their hard work!

Developer Activity Picking UpOctober 13, 2008
Some of you who are active on the bugtracker may have recently noticed a flurry of new activity. It appears that Tom has given several new people developer access to the bugtracker, and quite possibly to the codebase. This has lead to many bugs being updated with closed/resolved/acknowledged status, and apparently a few minor bugs fixed. (Mostly related to gender issues.) Hopefully we'll see more activity as the new developers get up to speed and start making larger contributions.

Clearing up Some RumoursSeptember 19, 2008
No, we haven't abandoned you. It's just that there really has not been anything of note worth reporting happening lately. However, the following clarification on "monster punishments" was recently posted to all nobles on Atamara:

"Tom Punishments"

I've heard about rumours that some monster/undead attacks are "punishment from Tom".
As usual, these rumours are total bull$#!t. When Tom punishes, he does so visibly, with lightning bolts and an explanation why. Especially undead or monsters are never intentionally sunk on any specific realm, except maybe on Beluaterra during an invasion.

There are numerous reasons why undead and monsters could happen more often in some parts of the map than others. The reasons can even be different for undead and monsters. One of the most likely reason is adventurers keeping the other places better cleaned up.

So, if you see monsters or undead heading your way, they are all automatically generated by the game code, which makes absolutely no difference between realm X and realm Y.
