Another Colony Attempt in Wayburg
+
2003-06-21 - Armitage III - Elected as ruler in Abington with the promise to save Abington from destructions

In the ongoing war to tear as much meat off of Abington as possible, Minas Ithil has initiated another colony takeover of Wayburg - clearly Abington's most popular city. This is actually the second time in the past few days, with the People of Wayburg throwing off the first attempt.  Whether this latest 'valiant mission' will succeed or not is, of course, a matter not settled.

In other news, a mostly Talerium force has been pillaging other lands, apparently just for the pure pleasure of smash-and-grab. At last count, this past month alone has seen almost 100 incidents of looting (including burning, raping and killing; not counting damaging military infrastructure) on the part of Abington's enemies. A conservative estimate would place the total number of lootings on part of the invasion forces at over 130 total since war began, but this journalist admits there are more important things to be doing than counting the dishonours of the enemy.

SMASHING VICTORY IN WYNFORD
+
*May 2004 - Queen Armitage III of D'Anglos decides is down from rulership over the Realm of Abington.

Once again an ASI army - this time with Falasan and Darka support - bent on taking over the County of Wynford was attacked and repulsed by Abington. 93 nobles of the enemy forces commanded a total of 2,366 troops, against which the all-Abington army of 76 nobles commanding 1,866 soldiers bravely attacked under the overall command of Xuanye, High Marshal of Abington, Marshal of the army of Wayburg. The 5 hour battle included death, wounding and bravery beyond count.
+
During the Reign of King Drago
Of course, no victory is without a price. Once again, Abington pays in blood for the greed of the Ash Sea Islands. And in Chasnoff, another foreign army marches toward our cities for the purposes of destruction and conquering. One wonders why so many nobles in so many realms are content to either sit back and watch it happen, or to actively incourage it. But one thing is clear - Abington, unlike her attackers, depends on no foreign realm for her victories.

VICTORY IN WAYBURG, WYNFORD
+
During the Reign of King Gabriel
An ASI army bent on taking control of Wynford was unable to do so and is now in retreat. In Wayburg, victory was achieved against Minas Ithil, Talerium and Islander armies who assaulted the city, which was very recently liberated from the clutches of the fictional realm "Kybcyell." These victories come at a great cost to both sides, however, exemplified by the two Talerium nobles slain in the failed attack. One wonders just how many more men will have to die before the invaders seek to achieve peace instead of conquest and destruction.

ASH'RILY LIBERATES ITSELF FROM INVADERS
+
During the Reign of Queen Armitage III
Despite the lack of any Abington armies, and despite all of Abington's officials being killed or driven away, Ash'rily liberated itself from ASI rule today. No doubt, the ASI invasion force will attempt another takeover, but for now the people of Ash'rily have declared that they prefer to be Abingtonites. This is perhaps aided by the well-known fact that there was no significant starvation in Abington until Abington was invaded and her traders assaulted.

WAYBURG STILL OCCUPIED; ABINGTON MORALE HIGH
+
During the Reign of King Gauihu
Despite the loss of Wayburg five days ago to Minas Ithil "colonists," the invasion of western Abington seems to have stagnated after several key victories. A turning point was reached two days ago in Sudfern, when Abington defeated a stronger MI/Talerium attacking force in a battle which left four invading nobles captured and the Minas Ithil hero Aranel killed.

*August 2007 - Secessions, Invasion, Rebellion - End of the Kingdom

The looting of Stoneville, Swanfolk, Sudfern, and other regions by the MI/Talerium armies has firmly united Abington against these aggressors, who, unlike Ash Sea Islands, don't even have the excuse that they are reclaiming land they believe belongs to them. Many of the pillagers have seen their units dismantled and in Chasnoff, Swanfolk and Sudfern, the marauding forces have been driven away and defeated for now.
+
The Republic of Abington
Abington nobles have recovered from the shock of the ASI surprise attack and, while fully expecting that the enemy will send more and more forces -- the Kybcyellites have declared that their sole purpose is to destroy Abington utterly -- have come to believe that those invaders will pay in blood for every farm plundered and for every region grabbed, and that eventually, Abington will emerge victorious.

Minas Ithil has engaged in a campaign of  pointless barbarism and colonial expansion. This after the former Abington traitor, now a Minas Ithil noble, El Cidd, took to insulting the entire Templar Order, joining again and again and spreading laughably poor propaganda in his attempt to justify his hatred for the realm he once betrayed with treason.

Meanwhile, in the northeast, ASI has claimed to 'liberate' Ash'rily after killing and driving away all government officials; this despite the fact that the people of Ash'rily are still nine-tenths loyal to Abington.

Talerium finally declared war today, with its ruler Captain declaring that "Abington is the source of all evil." It is fully expected that, to show how evil Abington is, Talerium troops will take part in looting, pillaging and the general opportunistic conquest of Abington.

Nevertheless, there was some good news for Abington, when Sir Grand Poobah, Duke of Stoneville and Marshal of the Army of Stoneville, took command of Minas Ithil and Talerium troops through brute leadership skills and attacked the Minas Ithil colonial expansion in Wayburg!  "If you yell loud enough you would be surprised how many knuckleheads will follow your orders," he said.

ASI DECLARES WAR
Coming as no surprise, the Ash Sea Islands declared war on Abington once the former's allies were close by to protect them. The reason? Doc's Revenge demanded that Abington give up five of its own territories (offering three in return), and when this demand was rejected, ASI decided they would rather take it by force.

This, despite ASI supposedly having dropped the claim on these territories - which was always known to be a flat-out lie - and despite ASI's traditional stance that they will attempt to "peacefully" gain those territories. ASI's record shows pitiably wan efforts at 'diplomacy,' which include treating Abington like a vassal state which was to be made demands of, rather than a sovereign Kingdom. A metaphor might be appropriate to sum up this behaviour: "I shall give you my middle finger, if you give me your arm. Otherwise, I'll kill you. See? I'm so reasonable and diplomatic!"

Of course, plenty of other excuses shall be given, but in the end this war is nothing more than a continuation of the last one: ASI greed for Abington lands, Abington blood, Abington sovereignty. The only reason it has taken this long is because ASI has never felt confident enough in the strength of their allies to take on the might of Abington and the Federation.

More news as this drama unfolds.

Fall of a Hero
Deschain Occam, Count of Veshin, Minister of the People, Hero, was slain in the latest Battle of Tandsu. Wounded, surrounded by Tarans, Deschain fought valiantly alongside his men defending a hill as waves of attacking infantry were repulsed, charged, repulsed and charged again. All Abington is in mourning. In Riverholm, the strongest cavalry of the city have been renamed in honour of Deschain and his noble family. In Wor'ight, three days have been dedicated to his memory, and banners across the realm flutter in mourning at half-mast. Across the world Deschain is remembered, and his passing not forgotten.

ASI Infiltrator Escapes... Again
I Will Survive, of ASI, was captured a few days ago trying to steal Abington tax gold. IWS, as he is known, has a long history of actions against Abington followed by escapes from its dungeons. (His head is currently wanted not for pilfery, but for betraying Abington to Antioch long ago.)

Moses, the Arch Priest of ASI and a Marshal in their Army, claimed that IWS's action was taken by ASI as "retaliation."

Death of Drago
Drago Dragonheart, former loved King of Abington, was killed today in a duel with Lady Doc's Biatch. LDB, after being found guilty of treason, escaped prison, ostensibly to meet Drago at Stargard to resolve any conflicts. What had first been informed as a way for LDB to die honorably, went horribly wrong as for some unknown reason Drago's sword betrayed him. The entire Kingdom is in mourning, all flags are at half staff, and a moment of silence observed. Let us all remember him, Drago Dragonheart, King of Abington.

Conspirators and Infiltrators
An Abington noble, Doc's Biatch, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit treason several days ago. The evidence presented included her own words, in which she advocated the elimination by infiltrator of the entire Abington High Council. Doc's Biatch does, of course, happen to be the mother of ASI's ruler, but her family connection does not mitigate the severity of her crime nor the lawfulness of it's punishment. She is currently captured and in Riverholm Dungeon, where she awaits the sentence of death by hanging.

Yet more infiltrators have been plying their trade against Abington; one Dawn of Darka was recently banished and Viego and Roger, from Tara and Cagilan Empire respectively, rot in prison.

The flood of infiltrators, according to the Arch Priest, has been pretty much nonstop ever since the war with ASI. "...our enemies are cowards indeed, to continue to send floods of infiltrators in the hopes of stealing some of our gold, or starving some of our peasants, or murdering young militiamen in the night, or attempted assassination of our King..." he said.

Battle at Meldeen goes bad
Yesterday in a valient assault on the Taran takeover of Meldeen, Abingtong forces along with RedSpan and Carelia met huge resistance put up by Tara, Darka and the Cagilan Empire. The largest battle in the history of the world would ensue. During the battle, Abington general Spiritmonger was captured, Carelian general Harpy, and RedSpan general Tony were injured. This paid a serious dent in our troops moral. To make matters worse, much of the army saw King Carriantor take a sword to the side, wounding him, last I saw, he was staggering towards some woods. We can all only hope that he recovers and gets safely out of Meldeen, and to the safety of Riverholm. Currently much of the Southern Alliance is in disarray, although we expect our leaders to be ready again shortly as thier wounds heal. In the meantime though all three realms seem to be doing a very good job of maintaining a force at Stargard, as holds strong.

Infils Raid Abington
A burnt warehouse, attempted break in to Tax offices, successful assault on a TL, unsuccessful assault on King Carriantor, of the 4 events, three of the infiltrators were arrested, and are now in the hands of Judge Gauihu, Fetz, an Abby infil, was just doing some training, and has been released. Ottar, a Taran Infil, and Tank the great Falasan infiltrater were also caught, and unlike Fetz are now at the full mercy of Abington. While the attacks are a disturbance, the security of Abington seems to be doing a very good job, catching all but one of the infiltrators, and for the attempt on the kings life by Tank, we can only hope for the harshest of punishments.

The Battle is Won
In a recent series of conflicts between the large armies that for weeks had been staring at each over the walls of Stargard, there was a grouping of battles for the lands of Meldeen and Atblane. Two smaller confrontations at Meldeen, first with Abington using a hit and run the slower units of CE/Tara/Darka destroying about 6,000cs, then the alliance struck back, victorious they were, but most of the Abington forces had already moved back behind the walls of Stargard as they only were able to lay waste to 1,000 cs of Abby forces. Then there was the Battle at Atblane, led by General Spiritmonger, and many of the Marshals, the forces of Abington, Redspan, and Carelia with a cs of 38,115 soundly defeating the Army of Cagil, Tara, and Darka, which at a cs of 37,849. A day later, Abington would land another blow, again hitting Meldeen, and win against a 8,901 cs army. CE, Tara, and Darka have been removed from Redspans land, while it is not known if they will be back, it does buy us some very valuable time, and leaves them with a very bad taste in thier mouth.

Carriantor crowned new King of Abington
King Gabriel did a wonderful job as king, and finished his business, after stepping down, and a close election with Elantus, Sir Carriantor was crowned the King of Abington. It was not the most celebrated Coranation ever in Riverholm, as many of the knights and lords were away in Redspan, defending Stargard from an attack by the Cagilan Empire, Tara, and Darka. Time will only tell how successful this King might be.

King Gabriel to step down, Treaty to be drafted
With the war now over, and the Ashlanteans beaten, King Gabriel has confirmed his promise to step down from his throne, and to allow other worthy nobles to become monarch of the realm- as chosen by the people, of course.

However, King Gabriel will remain in office untill a Treaty of Ash'rily can be drafted and signed, laying out the terms of the peace between the two nations.

What the terms will be is currently unclear, but it is fairly certain that the Eastern Alliance will be the enforcers of the treaty, promising swift retribution against either nation if the treaty is broken.

The treatment of Prisoners and Nobles is likely to be an issue, and the controversial execution of Vigilantus may be brought up. However, it is fairly certain that, for the time being, uneasy peace is assured.

ASH'RILY SEES THE LIGHT
Despite protestations of a long, stubborn resistance to Abington's justice, the City of Ash'rily saw the light and officially joined with the Kingdom of Abington today, after the stunning multinational victory just a few days ago. Although the difficulties of control are not insubstantial, the Abington precedent set by the incorporation of mighty Suville indicates that this former Ash Sea Islands capital will remain under the authority of Abington.

In other news, a Carelian assassin was found creeping around the tent of the King of Abington; guards report that given the circumstances, they were more concerned with the infiltrator's health than that of Gabriel, who is said understatedly to be able to "take care of himself."

ASH'RILY FALLS
In the third assault upon the doomed city, Abington and her allies broke the walls and marched triumphantly into the city beneath the flutter of the banners of dozens, if not hundreds of noble houses. Although a Minas Ithil and Islander force nearby hopes to recapture the city or otherwise deter it's fate, it seems likely that the combined might of Abington, Redspan and Carelia will hold the city despite the destruction of it's outer walls.

Uncomfirmed reports also state that an Ash Sea Islands infiltrator unsuccessfully attempted, yet again, to assassinate Drago, Marshal of the Army of Wor'ight, but whether this action was authorized by the Islander leaders remains to be seen.

MINAS ITHIL JOINS THE WAR
As the Battle for the Ash Sea Island drags on, with thousands of casualties on both sides, the dubious and enigmatic forces of Minas Ithil, initially claiming to be protecting Ashlantean homeland, have advanced into contested territories in Lerss and Veshin, and have engaged in open conflict with forces of Abington.

As War with Minas Ithil seems likely, more and more nobles have chimed in support for a total destruction of Ash Sea Islands.

"We could take Ser'quea. It would end this war alot quicker." said one Noble.

With the matryrdom of fallen Abington noble Feldric, talk has begun of forming a new religious cult that will give Abington the faith it needs to destroy their foes. Currently discussions are on about adopting the Drachenwalden worship of the Great Dragon, or of perhaps inventing a new faith with Feldric as its chief saint.

The Influx of new troop leaders is also a concern and a joy for Abington officials, who are eager to mobilize their vast resources and tap the full potential of this crop of young nobles.

WAR WITH ASH SEA ISLANDS!
In a Disturbing and unfortunate twist, The Realm of Abington is now at war with long time ally, the Ash Sea Islands.

"This conflict, according to sources within and without the Abington Government, appears to be about demands made by the Ruler of the ASI Realm, who wishes to claim Worav and Wor'ight, based on a treaty that was rendered null and void over a year ago." said Ulric(23), Count of Werdham and Marshall of the army of Suville.

"I personally didn't want this war, and argued hard against it. However, it seems diplomacy failed, and now we are taking back the entire ASI, so as to punish the government for its greed, and to ensure we have a buffer zone to prevent further ASI aggression."

ASI will likely be offered terms once the rapid Blitzkrieg of the Ash Sea Island is complete, and Veshin and Ash'rily have once again been returned to Abington.

In other News, King Gabriel plans on stepping down have been confirmed, and after the war it is highly likely that he will resign as Monarch of this realm, and allow the people to choose a new one. Carriantor and Elantus, both highly respected Lords of Abington, are the main candidates.

Suville Reunited with the Realm!
After weeks of labor and toil on the part of the huge Abington Taskforce, the City of Suville is now firmly in the hands of the people of Abington.

King Gabriel has confirmed this so in a historic speech, and promised that there "will be a tournament after Darkas". Darka's Impending tournament is likely to prove adequate entertainment for many of our nobles untill then!

As it stands, Suville still has a long way to go before it reaches its full shining glory. But now the City is stable, the vast armies of Abington can be allocated elsewhere, and her Nobles can devote themselves to forthcoming challenges.

In other news, Lady Doc's Biatch has beaten would-be Dueling Champion Ferber, although she has refused to claim any titles, claiming to be searching for descendants of her homeland's wargod.

Villeways Restaurant in Suville is set to be the refined counterpart of Wor'ight's Dragon Reborn Inn, and caters to a similar clientele- that of nobles passing through. However, Villeways is also great for Courting and special functions, and we do birthdays, romantic dinners and business meals.

((Roleplaying again, encouraged))

Royal Court, Council of the People, Formed Into One Group
King Gabriel, in his desire to fulfill the needs and wishes of the nobles of Abington, has organized the Royal Court and Council of the People into a cooperative, democratic body to promote the welfare of the Kingdom. The Council itself consists of the three Ministers of the People, who combined have one vote; the Royal Court, in addition, includes the Grand Justiciar, with two votes, the King with one vote and the Minister of Law and Order with another vote. To legislate, argue, debate, and ultimately agree on various matters, including the welcoming of new and young nobles (and incouragement of Roleplaying).

Southern Handshake Brings Peace
The new Treaty between Carelia, Abington and RedSpan places Cummaol, Arblane and Tarkhog within the hands of the Southern Alliance, while allowing Scarbran to remain in Carelia's hands. The King's word is now law, and the People's Ministry wholeheartedly supports this new development, which will see a period of ten weeks of peaceful relations between the mentioned realms.

Scarbran lost to Carelia, Cagilan Empire
Reports in the south tell that Scarbran, recently conquered by Abington, is now lost again after the remnants of the Northern Alliance attacked the region after the mighty Abington army left, incidentally violating a truce agreement the Cagilan Empire had made with Abington. As well, Kilbranba was attacked by the CE forces.

Abington nobles are outraged, though not surprised, at the inability of the so-called Empire to maintain it's word. Lady Callisto of Abington had this to say: "The Cagilan Empire has broken their word... time to kick their teeth in." Sir Ausliva of Swanfolk echoed this view. "Abingtonians! Wake up are prepare war towards those Chaotic evil scum! for this moment, we will not continue our journey to our homeland, but will return to the battlefield once more time!"

Nevertheless, Abington leadership is confident that this setback will be reversed. Northern Alliance forces are suspected of having ambitions of launching another invasion of Abington or allied RedSpan, but are considered likely to regret such actions.

More news as it unfolds.

Battle in Scarbran, Abington Victorious
Just three days and nine hours ago (at time of this printing), the forces of once-proud Carelia waged a mighty battle to prevent the takeover of Scarbran by the Kingdom of Abington, and lost. Gauihu of Abington tells his account.

"It was a very calm and mild winter's day as the troops from Abington set up defenses. Baron Carriantor, Marshal of the Army of Wayburg, took command of the 29 Abington noble troopleaders and their 1,329 soldiers as the expected Carelian counter-attack came. Like the defending southerners the Carelians relied more on infantry than archers, but were distinctly outnumbered with but 756 men on the field. Carelian mixed infantry, once able to swing the tide of battle in their favor in some earlier battles with the Southern Alliance, provided no such service on this day.

"The mighty infantry wall of Abington broke ranks as three eager nobles set out to meet the attackers. Leah of Abington and Leonidas of Carelia were wounded in the melee while ten banners of Abington marked the joining of battle like gravestones. But it was Carelia's ambitions who were buried, as the feared cavalry arm crashed into the ranks of their infantry and decimated their own horsemen. Feldric's Legionary Cavalry made a name for themselves as did all Abington; the army of Wayburg advanced like a mobile castle laying siege to the attackers. Cymoril of Carelia was seriously wounded, and yet more banners of Abington rose over the field just as Carelian conscripts lay fallen in the cold soil of Scarbran.

"Broken, the Imperial army retreated and then routed before the advancing wrath of Gabriel's will."

Nobles also wounded during the glorious battle included Night Elf, Countess of Taree, Halden, Count of Canock, Aramil, and Arch-Priest of Carelia and Duke of Stormbran; all of Carelia.

Deschain of Abington, Count of Tarkhog, had this to say of the battle. "What a fine and proper battle; it is rare these days that two armys can clash and produce the type of battle that is heard of across the continent."

Twelve hours after the battle, Sir Kronos, the King of Carelia, alone attempted a brave attack on the Abington occupiers, and like his men was quickly captured and imprisoned.

Scarbran is now a province of Abington.
