[- This lifted from Lorrie Furion Archbane's invaluable History of Fontan -]

Fontan City seceded from Fontan at the behest of Lycastus. He felt the old Fontan wasn't around anymore and sought to bring it back with Light Of Fountain, a Theocracy. There were some religion in his talk, which i think is to legitimize his claim for LOF. Anyway, a couple of experienced TLs moved to LOF. An Najaf and Negev joined the new realm. There was much hype about what to do, but in the end, Fontan continued their feud with Oligarch. Viseu joined LoF awhile later, brought over by a unhappy TL.
Fontan did better even with less tax. They took Greatbridge, Hagley, Troyes and Westmoor in quick succession. They rested and refitted and coordinated with allied generals, on the final push. Then Oligarch City fell. A combined force of 48k cs attacked the 20k cs in Oligarch City. They stone walls creaked under the march of Fontan, Sirion and OR's troops. So Oligarch is no more. Sirion is currently doing a TO of it. Commonyr is being TOed by our TLs. Oligarch is dead. Destroyed by our combined might. The Northern Conflict is finally over.

The Fall of the City

[- This also from Edition 9 of The Oligarchian Observer -]

May 20, 2006 -The Fall of Oligarch - This is a day which shall live on in infamy. My reports in Perdan City say that 48k of Sirionite, Old Rancaguan, and Fontanese forces assaulted 21k Oligarchian defenders. After a heated and pitched battle, we were vanquished, with thousands dying on each side. Several heroes were killed.

It is time to recon the cost of the defeat of Oligarch. Since the beginning of this war when Sirion marched on Omsk, my (admittedly limited) research indicates 450,000 peasants dead, either murdered or starved, and almost 250,000 military personnel along with dozens of heros.
This is the legacy of Sirion. Half a million slaughtered peasants, the virtual depopulation of vast rural areas. Now that Oligarch is gone, the Age of the Northern Trinity has been ushered in, for none can oppose their dominance. They tested themselves in Rancagua, refined themselves in Avamar, and proved themselves finally in Oligarch.

They brought us Hell, and we fought it, and damned ourselves.

[- This lifted from Edition 9 of The Oligarchian Observer -]

May 28, 2006 - Today, Commonyr fell to Fontanese forces. The realm of Oligarch has come to an end. Now we are only a body of refugees, a body of refugees which shall carry on the fight from other realms. Let it be known that Oligarch went down fighting, and never once betrayed a friend, never once backed down from its side.

In the Absence of Oligarch

[- This lifted from History of Perdan's Praetorian Strike Force -]

Soon Perdan founds itself facing a new threat from both sides. Ibladesh and Itorunt, unable to deal with the great Perdan army, called for Sirion assitance to help slow their destruction. Sirion answered the call, and soon a large Elivish army was approaching Bescanon, and for the first time in decades, northern alliance forces stepped foot on Perdan soil. Despite the initial surprise, the great King Nightmare quickly reacted to the attack and the Perdan army prepared to launch an attack into Bescanon from the regions of Brive and Perdan City. The Sirion hordes quickly realized they had strayed too far from home to even hope for a victory and quickly retreated to the north.

Oligarch's Historic Role

[- This lifted from Oligarch's History by Grand Justiciar Hireshmont -]

Oligarch is a proud realm with a rich heritage written in blood and tears.

We stand on the border between the overpowering Sirion and the diabolical Fontan as a bulwark to the southern states. We are locked in struggle against these foes. Our republic stands proud in the fray, strong and stalwartly defending all that is honorable in East Continent.

Oligarch was destroyed as of May 28, 2006 by the combined forces of Sirion, Fontan, and Old Rancagua.

Oligarch as Heroically Diplomatic

[- This lifted from Avamar/Fontan, the Breach of a Treaty -]

[D]espite article 8 was obviously breached by Fontan, Caligus and Perdan didn't enforce Article seven. So after demanding Viseau from Avamar whose army was already there, ready to initiate a TO, threatened to declare war in case that Oporto was not given to them.
Fontan was arrogant enough as its former enemies were all absent from the negotiations between Avamarian and Fontanese government concerning the issues of Oporto and Viseau. Eventually they demanded even Montijo.

Unfortunately only Oligarch was able to honour the treaty and declared war to Fontan. However with the interferene of Sirion, the count down for Eleador, Rancagua and Avamar had begun, because of this lack of political will between allies. ...

From Madness: Prophecy!

[- This lifted from A Tormented Prophecy by Merewyn Leader, of the long noble Family Kazan -]

(Three invader realms of Sirion, Fontan and Old Rancagua rallied under the banner of Doc to finally siege the capital of Oligarch and erase this realm from the map in the same way as they have erased Omsk, Avamar, Eleador and Rancagua.

During the great battle in defence of Oligarch city, Lady Merewyn has been wounded. Later in hospital the healers learned that Lady Merewyn lost her mind and became unpredictable but she has gained the clairvoyance powers.)

Ahhh... my friends! Three powerful realms of Sirion, Fontan and Old Rancagua ganged up to finally trample to death the small, weakened and defenceless Oligarch. One of the biggest city of this continent hardly has place for all the intruders that came to see the end of the legendary realm of Oligarch.
PEOPLE OF THE NORTH! Enjoy the end of Oligarch, enjoy, feast and dance on the market squares, trampling one another. But hurry with eating, hurry with dance, care to trample your new friends, not your old family. Because your end is near too. YOUR end lurks in the shadows of this victory! YOUR END awaits you patiently like a rat-trap with the most delicious piece of cheese inside!!
BUHAHAHA! The victorious heroes of today will be the slaves tomorrow!! WHO do you think will fall next? Perdan? Caligus? Naaaahhhh... They are tooo far away from here.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Enjoy and dance on the grave of Oligarch! Enjoy, sing and play on the grave of your friendhip!!

The Call to Glory

Forces Unbalanced

[- This lifted from Ruler Speak of Avamar's Fall - December 2005 -]

Sir Lalakis, final Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Avamar wrote the following to the East Continent Chronicler regarding the fall of Avamar:
We fought well, we resisted for long almost alone against unfavourable odds and overwhelming enemies. Our realm was isolated by "friends" and "allies" and thus the fall of our capital was only a matter of time. Our enemies had always been better organised, devoted to their cause and united against single targets. They wiped out Eleador within days. Rancagua followed. And now Avamar.
Our allies failed to realise the true situation here at the North of the continent and soon they will face the consequences of their short-sighted and sometimes even petty politics. I wish them teh best of luck and I still strongly believe that if they don't put aside their individual local wars and small differences, they will find themselves against the worst days in their history.
Prime Minister Sir Lalakis wrote to Allied Realm Rulers:
Zedd of Fontan - I hope that your hatred find a victim to be channelled... Maybe Fontan will now return to its noble status it used to have when I was young in Avamar.
Lysander of Oligarch - Our realms stood together in happy and in sorrow times. You were always not a ruler, but above anything else a FRIEND to be based upon. Oligarch always helped allies and friends -Elador, Rancagua, Avamar- till teh very end. But what a single realm can do against the united armies of teh most powerful realms in the Continent? I wish the best to you and your people. I know that they will never give up. And this gives hope to me and to my heir.
Lorraine of Perdan - Unfortunately Doc was right... Big realms are distinguished by the sacrifices they made, by the assistance they offer... Perdan fights a local war while the whole continent is on fire. Your enemies are working as a good and united team from South to North. Perdan stands and she will stand there. But I'm afraid that soon she will meet the brutality of Fontan and Sirion invaders. If she will have to face them alone and in her border, things will be much more difficult than now.

Greed and Treachery

[- This lifted from Perdan and War -]

Usually we fight Sirion and her client states; the Southern Alliance was formed to stop the aggression that Sirion showed to the whole continent, trying to destroy Oligarch. SA won over Doc, the former ruler of Sirion and his allies, and Oligarch regained its lost capital, Oligarch City.

After that war, we helped Caligus defend and regain its lost regions from Fontan.

Fontan made a treaty with Caligus and Oligarch after accepting their defeat, but they violated it towards Oligarch and joined Sirion once more.

[- This lifted from Timeline of East Continent - May 2006 -]

  • 2006.05.26 - Oligarch loses it's capital, and last city, Oligarch City, to Sirion
  • 2006.05.28 - Oligarch loses it's last region, Commonyr, to Fontan. Oligarch is now a lost realm.

Contagion Through the North

[- This lifted from Avamar_Times - Issue_8 -]

The long devastating war between Northern and Southern Alliance has concluded with the overwhelming victory of the North. During this war several realms, like Avamar, Oligarch and Rancagua, were destroyed, while others like Ubent and Caligus were crippled after surrendering. Perdan however, managed to maintain a sovereign and key role in the continent.

Treachery and Greed

[- This lifted from Perdan's The Rampant Lion -]

January 5, 2008
Fontan has taken control of Montijo from Sirion - Despite being caught in a war against four enemies, Fontan has shown great military acumen in prosecuting the war. They have held off assaults by Sirion, Old Rancagua, Obsidian Islands, and Light of Fountain. Not only that, they have managed to gain territory despite the number of enemies they have faced. Fontan has taken control of Poitiers from Old Rancagua, and Tokat and Sordidus from Light of Fountain. Although they had lost control of Montijo to Sirion for a short while, they took control of the region of Oberndorf away from Sirion in return.
February 14, 2008

Light of Fountain Is No More - Fontan has captured the stronghold of Akesh Temple, the capital of Light of Fountain. This brings an end to the theocracy of Light of Fountain.

Ashforth Sacked - At the same time that Fontan has been taking control of the capital of Light of Fountain, they have also been fiercely attacking Old Rancagua. While successfully attacking and defeating the Old Rancaguan army, the Fontanese army has been plundering the Old Rancaguan capital city of Ashforth. Fontan's simultaneous military accomplishments against Sirion, Old Rancagua, and Light of Fountain have been extremely successful.

Caligus Entangles Perdan in Conflict

Caligus is fighting Perdan because of the Ibladesh Itorunt war.

[- By way of the Kiri-Jolith family (from Barad Falas) penned by Hiddukel, male relative of Micna, Queen of Westmoor. -]

January 5, 2008

Itorunt could beat Ibladesh one on one.

Caligus started giving subtle, then not-so-subtle aid to Ibladesh. Whilst Perdan abided by a treaty to remain uninvolved.

Eventually Perdan got disgusted with Caligus's involvement.

Perdan declared war on Caligus, and made a very poor showing of it, ending in a relative stalemate.

But the damage had already been done to Itorunt. Ibladesh used the War with Perdan to clean up the last of Itorunts lands without Perdan being able to prevent it.

Then peace stood for a short while.

Eventually Caligus got disgusted at Westmoor, because I remained Neutral through the Perdan/Caligus war, but I very vocally supported Perdan. (I'm ruler of Westmoor)

Perdan began moving forces North to aid in the Sirion war (and finally end the cursed thing)

Once Perdan's army had already engaged in battles and was mostly north, Caligus stated an "Intent to war Westmoor" as after over a RL year, they'd got disgusted at how Sirion was being "ganged up on".

Granted the real reason was to prevent Perdan from being involved, and get relatively cheap and easy regions from Westmoor. (Was a treaty that Caligus and Perdan could not be involved in the same war).

Perdan immediately made official their war with Sirion. Caligus claimed Perdan broke the treaty as they made an "Official Declaration of Intent to war" before Perdans War Declaration.

Caligus then declared war on Perdan. Declaring war on Westmoor a couple days later.

Ibladesh saw a beleaguered Perdan and joined the bandwagon...

Did I leave anything out?
Ahh yes.. Perdan lost so many regions because...

  1. Their Army was primarily in Westmoor regions, when Caligus and Ibladesh attacked.
  2. Caligus declared war and attacked first, when Perdan was finally able to fight them, Ibladesh declared and attacked the relatively undefended South.
  3. Perdan's military was making a very poor showing at the beginning of the war, due mainly to apathy and poor directions.
  4. It's a lot easier to make a region go rogue than to Take it Over. And, finally,
  5. Ibladesh has become a powerhouse since consuming Itorunt, although the Perdan war came before they could re consolidate their gains. Ibladesh would likely be a contender for an even war against Perdan were both allowed to fully recover...

For more than that you'd have to ask the Queen, my younger sister Micna, or another ruler.
