The End of a Mighty Realm

May 28, 2006- Today, Commonyr fell to Fontanese forces. The realm of Oligarch has come to an end. Now we are only a body of refugees, a body of refugees which shall carry on the fight from other realms. Let it be known that Oligarch went down fighting, and never once betrayed a friend, never once backed down from its side.

Diplomatic News

May 27, 2006- Doc has accepted a cease fire, signalling the end of this long-running war on Oligarch's part. Now we have merely the wars with Fontan and OR. Hopefully we can aquire neutrality there, as well. I set all of our diplomatic relations to what they truly are, in an attempt to be totally honest with the world. Unfortunately, in being honest, King Eleran has seemingly been insulted by our lowering of stances with him from Peace to Neutral, and has announced that Yssaria will accept no Oligarchian refugees. In other news, Sirion has begun releasing its prisoners. I hope the other members of the Northern Trinity will follow suit, and perhaps consider granting at least some limited number of Oligarchian TLs the privelige to dwell in their lands.

A New Prime Minister

May 26, 2006- Earlier today, I was elected Prime Minister. The exact vote can be found here. My statement is simple: as the last PM of Oligarch, I satdn on the shoulder's of such giants as Lysander the Great, and Sakima the Brave. My duty is simple: to protect and secure the safety of the honorable, valiant, and long-fighting TLs of our noble realm of Oligarch. LONG LIVE OLIGARCH!

Fall of the City

May 26, 2006- Earlier today, Oligarch city officially came under the control, under the claim, more correctly, of Sirion. It was already under their de facto control quite a while ago, but now it really is.

Synchronization

May 21, 2006- While reviewing my records, I have found something interesting, and I offer my congradulations to Sirion and Allies. Look at graphs of military power just before the Battle of Avamar, then look at that day. Continent-wide, there are battles, synchronized. Every nation fought a battle, almost. They coordinated. This time, the identical occurrence. What about the Battle of Kazakh? Did the same occur then? If so, I would call those the three pivotal dates, those and sometime in late february, the falls of Ashforth(it fell a few times in rapid succession). Thats when our CS plummeted, as did our income. Those three battles, and the Fall of Ashforth.

Smoke from Afar

May 21, 2006- I am in a sickbed in Meuse, for I have been attacked by an assassin. Even from here, though, I can see the smoke from the burning rubble of Oligarch City, where Sirionite, Fontanese, and Old Rancaguan troops are laying waste to the city, and butchering thousands more inhabitants. It seems their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

The Fall of Oligarch

May 20, 2006- This is a day which shall live on in infamy. My reports in Perdan City say that 48k of Sirionite, Old Rancaguan, and Fontanese forces assaulted 21k Oligarchian defenders. After a heated and pitched battle, we were vanquished, with thousands dying on each side. Several heroes were killed. It is time to recon the cost of the defeat of Oligarch. Since the beginning of this war when Sirion marched on Omsk, my(admittedly limited) research indicates 450,000 peasents dead, either murdered or starved, and almost 250,000 military personnel, and dozens of heros. This is the legacy of Sirion. Half a million slaughtered peasents, the virtual depopulation of vast rural areas. Now that Oligarch is gone, the Age of the Northern Trinity has been ushered in, for none can oppose their dominance. They tested themselves in Rancagua, refined themselves in Avamar, and proved themselves finally in Oligarch. They brought us Hell, and we fought it, and damned ourselves.

The Battle of Oligarch

May 19, 2006- After amassing a 60,000 CS army between Fontan and Sirion, the time has come. I am, unfortunately, away in Perdan purchasing food. The combined armies of these two tyrannical powers assault our fair city, which they have already slain 1/3 of through starvation tactics. We stand as ready as we shall ever be: let them come. We shall fight and die on these walls, we shall fight and die here. And when we have fallen, the war may be over, or nearly so. We are obligated by honor, by duty, by virtue to stand and fight against the tyranny of the North. We shall do so, and in death stand defiant, martyrs to freedom. This may be the end of Oligarch, but it is not the end of what Oligarch stood for: the defense of the weak, haven for the outcast, home for exiles and downtrodden, honorable defense of virtue. Even when we employed shadow tactics, it was done out of necessity for the perseverance of goodness. Let it be known that here today we fight, and we die, as Oligarchians. And the word Oligarchian means so very many things. To some it is the second home of Avamar, to some the friend of Omsk. To some it is a refuge for Eleadorians, some trace their roots to Coimbra, even. For some it is the ally to the end of Rancagua. But to all: we are Oligarch, the eternal body. We are Oligarch, beyond national boundaries and unto the end of this continent and the world. We are Oligarch.

Twiddling of the Thumbs

May 16, 2006- Oligarch has a new national sport! Thumbtwiddling! To do it, sit on your bottom. Now, relax... stay relaxed... now clasp your hands about belly-level. Now unclasp your thumbs, and sort of... half rotate them around each other. Boring, eh? I think so too! Now, all of this is to say, nothing much is happenning. We're all kind of wondering, what happens now? DO we sit and wait for the seige, or do we strike back?

Updates From the Cell

May 13, 2006- Well, first there was dullness. Westmoor keeps getting TOs on it, but resisteing them. Its probably resisted about 10 TOs. Then I had scribal errors(OOC- grounded!), so I was out of contact, then I got thrown in prison! Now, rumour tells me, via smuggled copies of the Rampant Lion, that the Westmoorlians have, at last, fallen. I bet we will see a new Coimbra soon. Now Oligarch stands surrounded, without aid. Is this the end? I hope to be able to continue reporting, but I dont know if I will be able, from the confines of my cell.

Continuing Conflict in Westmoor

May 2, 2006- I dont know how the Westmoorlians do it. They have no repulsed FOUR TO attempts by Fontanese(or is it Sirionite?) forces. We have continued minimal forces there, as well as peasents waging guerrilla warfare in the streets. The people of Oligarch are strong, but dying. Westmoorlians butchered in the streets, Commonyrians, Oberndorfers, and Greatbridgians reduced to a shadow of their former selves by mass murders of elves and Fontanese, starvation warfare tactics, pillaging of every kind. The inhumanity of the north is disgusting. 30,000 have starved to death in Oligarch, THIRTY THOUSAND. Are there none who can turn their eyes to this tragedy of humankind? can the Yssarians not see that their allies butcher people in the thousands? Can the Itoruntians not see beyond the feud of their northern allies? Can the Ibladeshians not see through divine eyes and take pity on humankind? I appeal to the entire island: Save Oligarch. Sirion and Fontan starve us and butcher the flower of your youth and torture our nobles most brutally. Yes, we do the same, for we can survive no other way. Please, hear the call of that which is right and righteous.

Attack in Oberndorf

May 2, 2006- We attacked Oberndorf earlier today, only to be repulsed. 5000 vs. 6000, no surprise they beat us. Such is the war against tyranny, such is life. We will never surrender, we will never give in.

The End of the War

May 2, 2006- The OCPAU vs. Itorunt Informer war is over. The CC and OO managed to get just over 1000 views each, totalling in at 2100 views, last I checked. The II, it seems, managed about 1100 views on its own... thats 1100 views, for one issue, and 2(or is it 3?) "special issues". The OO still holds the record for the most views of any single issue.

May We Do Well in May

May 1, 2006- Well, its new issue time! With a record-breaking 1063 views last I checked, the Oligarchian Observer April 2006 Volume CRUSHED the Itorunt Informer, and its Special Issues. The CC did as well, with 1024 views I believe. That ends the II vs. OCPAU war, with us the definitive victors! In this coming month, may we all work, hope, and pray for the success of Oligarch.
