The Fifth Invasion

December

Dec 02 1011 - the Beginning

A few days ago three priests of daemon worship have been sighted.

In Enweil, a priest called '1st Son' has been seen preaching in Lopa.

These priests seem to have some kind of evil power to drain a noble of all his energy ( = turn hours to 0; informed from Thalmarkin) and have some magical scrolls with them. 3rd Son is believed to have been captured by Sint, although he later escaped and 2nd Son was injured at some point (probably by followers of the Order of the Golden Feather in Lastfell).

As well as the "Sons", another Daimon known as Overlord has been spotted leading troops in Enweil.

Nightfall of the North attacked Wailing Wood in Thalmarkin with 100 daimons (5800 CS) and launched a brutal takeover.

One day later Nightfall of the East attacked Piwani with 50 daimons (4400 CS). Glongin (Riombara) is going through a brutal take over by Nightfall of the South (leading 80 daimons = 5500 CS).

Dec 04 1011 - 1st battle of Wailing Wood, 1st battle of Piwani

Thalmarkin attacked and defeated the daimons in Wailing Wood. Nightfall of the North was wounded in the process. Enweil lost to the daimons in Piwani.

Dec 05 1011 - 1st battle of Glongin, 2nd battle of Piwani

Enweil lost the second battle of Piwani as well. Afterwards the daimons used magic:

  • Magic in the Air The ravens croak and the sky darkens for a moment. Someone has failed in an act of magic nearby.
  • Magic in the Air The ravens fly and the sky is changed. Someone has cast a magic spell in the vicinity.

Riombara did attack and defeat 80 daimons of a strength of 5.700 in Glongin. 'Nightfall of the South' did retreat into the blight with 30 remaining daimons.

Dec 06 1011 - 3rd battle of Piwani, 1st battle of Naraka

by using a magic scroll, Enweil defeated daimons in the third round. Nightfall of the East retreated to Tey Gren, regained strength (230 daimons with over 4k CS)

Magic in the Air The ravens fly and the sky is changed. Someone has cast a magic spell in the vicinity.

Nothoi lost to daimons in Naraka

Nothoi vs. Netherworld Estimated strengths: 400 men vs. 120 men

The leader of the daimons might be Nightfall of the West.

Nightfall of the South did recruit 270 additional daimons in the blighted Rueffilo (the human population did not diminish), growing to a strength of 5600 again. He moved into Ardmore the following day, starting another brutal takeover.

Dec 07 1011 - 1st battle of Ardmore

Enweil and Riombara working on a peace treaty to fight their true enemies, daimons. Enweil is discussing a plan to attack Tindle, a new spawning ground for daimons led by Nightfall of the East.

Riombara did defeat Nightfall of the south a second time: 12.800 did attack 280 daimons of a strength of 5.100. Riombara won, losing 1.100, 70 wounded daimons did retreat into the Blight.

The following day Nightfall of the South did once again recruit, this time in Rii bringing his numbers from 70 to 260 daimons and his strength from 500 to 4.200. He then marched to Avengmil starting a brutal takeover.

Dec 09 1011 - 1st battle of Avengmil, 1st battle of Bil Havil, 1st battle of Reeds - daimon killed!

Nightfall of the North was defeated and captured by forces of Melhed and Thalmarkin in Bil Havil.

Nothoi defeated Nightfall of the West in Reeds, then their capital.

Nightfall of the South was defeated and killed in Avengmil. Those daimons surviving the battle did vanish.

Dec 10 1011 - 1st battle of Tindle

Fronen lost a battle in Tindle against daimons led by Nightfall of the East in the evening.

Dec 11 1011 - 2nd battle of Tindle - daimon executed!

The daimon worshipper Nightfall of the North was publicly executed in Agyr.

Fronen and Enweil defeated Nightfall of the East by the morning

1st Son did steal gold in Fheuvenem.

Dec 14 1011 - daimons spotted

A huge force of daimons is spotted in Tor led by Overlord (740 daimons / 15000 CS), Midnight of the North (540 daimons / 10000 CS) and Nightfall of the West (330 daimons / 6000 CS). The total number 1610 daimons of a strength of 31.000.

Dec 16 1011 - Enweil threatened

Overlord and Nightfall of the West, leading over 19000 CS, are heading straight for Enweil. Enweil responded last to Overlord's demands. Enweil is now recruiting as many units as possible to face Overlord and his daimons to buy other realms some time.

Midnight of the North is now in Winifael, leading 10100.

Dec 17 1011 - daimon movement

Overlord and Nighfall of the North are moving from Zuhle to Piwani with 19.300, starting a takeover there.
Midnight of the South has been spotted in Lopa, moving to Yncaalo, leading 7500.

Dec 19 1011 - 1st battle of Enweilios

Midnight of the South attacked Enweilieos. Neither him or Enweil win the battle. The main armies of Enweil and Riombara are closing in on him.

Dec 20 1011 - 2nd battle of Enweilios

Enweil and Riombara (10.000 and 9.000) did attack Midnight of the South (7.600) in Enweilios. Due to a militia unit having been recruited in Enweilios, Enweil was considered to be the defenders and thus Riombara did stay neutral. Still, after a bloody battle the brave enweilian army did overcome Midnight who withdrew to Gorin, followed by the Riombaran army. At sunset Riombara again stood by, watching roused enweilian peasants beat the remnants of Midnights horde.

The following day Midnight did withdraw further to Ulallo, meeting Nighfall of the East there who had started a takeover after having seperated from Overlord in Piwani. Both lesser daimon leaders withdrew to Piwani instead of facing the combined allied army.

Dec 22 1011 - 1st battle of Vur Hagin

Enweil, IVF and Riombara had gathered in Ulallo - to the rejoicing of the local peasants. However, other news were grim: Nightfall of the West did attack Fronen in Tey Gren with 6.300, defeating their force that had bravely gathered to aid the southern realms in an attack against Overlord. At the same time Midnight of the North - who had sucessfully evaded Melhed, Old Grehk and Thalmarkin for a week - did storm Fronens capital Vur Hagin with 6.200. In addition to those two leaders, there were a total of 23.100 under Overlord, Midnight of the South and Nightfall of the East in Piwani.

Dec 23 1011 - 4th battle of Piwani, 1st battle of Ketampkin

Overlord moved out of Piwani to Ketampkin while the other daimon troop leaders moved in other directions. The combined army of Enweil, Fronen, Riombara and IVF hit Piwani and massacred 10k CS daimons. After the battle, the allied army chased Overlord.

When the allied army attacked Ketampkin, Overlord was not present. But even without their master, the daimons were fearsome as ever, crushing human infantry lines and cleaving their way through human archer lines, wounding numerous nobles. The allied army was smashed while killing less than 100 daimons.

Dec 24 1011 - Overlord reappears

Overlord did appear in the blighted Wilwau (north of Fwuvoghor) together with Midnight of the South. Both did recruit: 15.000 and 8.000 respectively. Then they marched to Villriil and started a TO of the region. Vilriil fell three days later and Overlord moved towards Fengen.

Dec 28 1011 - 1st battle of Fengen

Midnight of the South did start a TO of Ulallo. Overlord attacked Fengen with over 25.000...8-9.000 CS militia were destroyed.

Dec 29 1011 - 1st battle of Fheuvenem

Nightfall of the East attacked Fheuvenem, killing most of militia units and starting a takeover with a strength of 8.000.

The next day Overlord began a TO of Wheling with a strength of 15.000.

January

Jan 1 1012 - 1st battle of Gorin

The situation at the beginning of the 'Second allied campaign': 5 daimonleaders in enweilian territory, each running a takeover: Overlord in Wheling with 15.000, Nightfall of the West in Ketampkin with 5.400 plus 10.000 daimon militia, Nightfall of the East in Fheuvenem with 8.000, Midnight of the North in Gorin with 9.500 and Midnight of the South in Ulallo with 9.000 - a total of 57.000.

After having refitted Riombara had assembled in Enweilios with 11.000, meeting the battered Enweilian army. The allied host then attacked Gorin (15.000 against 9.600), crushing Midnight of the North's army and wounding him during the battle. The daimon did withdraw to Darhauyo to recruit.

Jan 2 1012 - 1st battle of Ulallo, 5th battle of Piwani

After one halfday of rest, Enweil and Riombara advanced against Midnight of the South in Ulallo, who was leading 240 archer daimons (teeth weavers): 14.000 against 9.100. The allies won a hardfought battle but lost considerably. Right after this battle the allied vanguard marched against Piwani which was held by a daimon militia - it was suspected that a daimon ritual was being prepared that - once finished - would result in the blighting of Piwani. The allies won yet again, even though Midnight of the North did reinforce the militia from Darhauyo...and to the rejoicing of humanity, this daimon leader was captured by Field Marshal Selis at the same time as those staying behind in Ulallo did capture Midnight of the South.

Jan 3 1012 - 2nd battle of Ulallo

Midnight of the West broke off the takeover of Ketampkin to attack allied forces withdrawing from Piwani through Ulallo: 5.500 against 3.100. The human defenders were overrun qickly at little losses to the daimons. Interestingly Overlord himself did also break off his takeover of Wheling at the same time and moved to Ketampkin.

This meant that the allied army of Enweil and Riombara, numbering a total of 19.000 including stragglers did face an enemy host of 58.000 and still did manage to break 2 takeovers, disrupt one suspected ritual, defeat and capture 2 daimon leaders and lead 2 other daimon leaders to break off their takeovers. This did save 4 regions from being taken by the daimons and likely one from being blighted - at the cost of Enweils army being near completely shattered and Riombaras effective army halved. Though with the Overlord again being mobile his wrath was expected to be deadly.

Riombara did start a takeover of Villriil.

Jan 4 1012 - The north marches south

Overlord did start a TO of Ketampkin with 15.000, Nightfall of the West a takeover of Ulallo with 5.500.

The Armies of Thalmarkin and Melhed march south through Fronen to lend their strength to the battles in the south.

Old Grehk takes the rogue city of Wudenkin.

Jan 5 1012 - Fheuvenem falls and Ketampkin is taken

A dark day - after a long takeover, Fheuvenem finally fell to Nightfall of the East - who marched towards Sandlakes next with his 8.500. As if this would not be enough, Overlord did finish subjugating Ketampkin after a surprisingly short time. However, another dire news did reach the allies: the captured Midnight of the North is spotted in the Blight at the northern border of Sint - leading 190 daimons of a strength of 33.000. These have to to be the largest fighting creatures ever spotted on Beluaterra.

Jan 6 1012 - 2nd skirmish of Fengen, 3rd Battle of Ulallo

Enweil did recruit again - which seemed to irk Overlord. He did assault Fengen - but was spotted in time and nearly the whole enweilian army of 6.000 evacuated to Gorin. At sunset the attack against Nightfall of the West in Ulallo took place - however, of Enweil, IVF and Riombara only the last did attack: 4.000 against 4.500. The resulting battle was lost, but the daimons did suffer roughly equally as the humans. In addition Riombara managed to break the daimon takeover.

During the past days Melhed and Thalmarkin had marched steadily southwards.

Jan 7 1012 - 4th Battle of Ulallo

Nightfall of the East - marching from Fheuvenem - did reach Ulallo on sunrise...but on sunset the allied host (Melhed, Thalmarkin, Enweil and Riombara) did attack: 20.800 against 10.600. The result was a clear victory for the humans. Both daimon leaders lost near all of their forces and their new takeover was broken.

Jan 8 1012 - 2nd Battle of Fengen

Overlord was spotted in Zuhle - leading 250 daimons of a total strength of 127.000. Initial reports of daimons as large as small castles were not believed.

At sunset the alllied host advanced against Fegen - held by Overlord's fearsome daimon militia and the retreated lieutenants: 21.600 allied forces against 16.500 daimons. The battle was fiercely contested and losses were heavy on both sides - but at the end the daimons were victorious. The human battleline simply could not withstand the daimon charge. Losses were 11.000 for the allied forces, 8.000 for the daimons. Still, at least humanity managed to capture Nightfall of the West.

The next day Overlord did move into Piwani with 130.000, Midnight of the South moved into Lopa with 40.000, comitting genocide.

Jan 10 1012 - 3rd Battle of Fengen and 1st Battle of Fwuvoghor

In a desperate act, the allied forces did attack the daimons in Fengen. Due to Overlord closing in from the north and Midnight of the South threatening from the south the battle could not be postponed, even though the promised reinforcements from IVF did not arrive: Enweil, Melhed, Thalmarkin and Riombara with a total force of 11.800 did confront 10.400 daimons....and due to the will of the gods, did prevail, driving the daimons before them.

At the same time Nightfall of the East did appear before Fwuvoghor with 40.000 - and promptly stormed the city.

The northern army (mainly Sint, Nothoi and Fronen) clashed with daimon militia units in Piwani, defeating them with ease. The northern realms then marched southwards towards Enweil.

Jan 12 1012 - 5th battle of Ulallo

The northern army attacked Ulallo where Overlord's main force of 60k was stationed. Humans emerged victorious and found that the actual strength of Overlord was only around 9k.

Meanwhile Midnight of the north marches through Baqua cutting through all the defenders in his path.

Jan 13 1012 - 6th battle of Ulallo + 1st Battle of Dyomoque

Netherworld attacks Fronen and Nothoi in Dyomoque but the daimons are unable to breach its walls.

Villriil is Blighted

A huge tower of light suddenly shoots skywards from somewhere within Villriil. It illuminates the landscape, despite the early hours. Bright and strong, it looks like a beacon of hope, reminding some of you of the Temples of Light. The column of light stands there, pulsing and moving ever upwards. Up and... away. After a short while you feel something like a current all around. It seems to attract light and hope and good. Attract and... swallow. The beam grows pale, slightly darker as it swallows more and more of the light around, sucking away hope and energy. It darkens as the Light is moved out of this world. You feel the current strongly now, sucking on you. When you look again, the sky has begun to go dark. You are having difficulty breathing. You realize that the Blight is closing in, and the beam of light - has gone.

Jan 14 1012 - 7th battle of Ulallo and 8th battle of Ulallo, 1st battle of Firbalt - daimon killed!

In the morning Overlord and Midnight of the South attack the allied forces of Enweil, Sint, Nothoi and Fronen in Ulallo: 12.400 daimons against 24.600 humans - the daimons are crushed and Midnight is wounded. Human losses are 7.000. At sunset a second battle erupts: Overlord and Midnight of the South are reinforced by Midnight of the West: 12.600 daimons against 17.700 humans - the humans win a glorious victory, wounding Overlord.

In the north, Midnight of the North attacks Firbalt and is killed by a defending militia unit - to the rejoicing of humanity!

Midnight of the West ambushes parts of the northern army in Piwani as they return from the southern campaign.

Overlord appears in Sheja and ambushes the northern contigent half a day later.

Jan 16 1012 - 1st battle of Grehk, 2nd battle of Grehk, 1st battle of Sheja

After storming Fwuvoghor, Nightfall of the East had marched southwards, burning as he went. On Jan 16th he did storm Grehk - which was not fully defended as Riombaras refitted vanguard had pursued undead in Lopa and Droxago and its reminder had not been ready to face the daimonlord.

Jan 17 1012 - 3rd + 4th battle of Grehk, 2nd battle of Firbalt, 2nd battle of Sheja

Desperately the riombaran defenders attempted to retake their capital - however, it was not to be. During the 4th battle, the riombaran hero Jethro Snow, former chancellor of Riombara fell. Soon afterwards however, Nightfall of the East marched to Mio Dupaki as the riombaran defenders did slowly regain their strength.

In the north, Darkest Hour of the North attacks Firbalt and breaches the walls where his predecessor Midnight of the north had failed.

Jan 19 1012 - 6th battle in Piwani

Enweil tried to retake Piwani but Overlord and Midnight quickly attacked the region to stop the TO. It seemed like that Overlord doesn't want any human in the region.

Jan 20 1012 - 9th battle of Ulallo

Nightfall of the East did take Mio Dupaki, threatening to cut Riombara off. The riombaran army had prepared to attack him there but did arrive one halfday too late - Nightfall did evade towards Enweil. Further east Overlord did assault Enweils withdrawing army in Ulallo, defeating it again.

The following day Darkest Hour of the North attacks Winifael and forces Thalmarkins army to chase him across the frozen plains into Gemke.

Jan 22 1012 - Piwani blighted, the South is cut off

Overlord finished the TO of Ulallo. Nightfall of the East still held in Lopa, killing peasants. Riombara retook Mio Dupaki. However, with Ulallo taken Piwani was blighted - this was a grave blow for humanity as now the south was cut off from the north.

Jan 24 1012 - 1st + 2nd battle of Bisana

Overlord began a TO in Gorin, killing hundreds of peasants during the process. He was soon joined by Midnight of the South. In the north, Melhed did confront and defeat Midnight of the West in Bisana in two consecutive battles.

Jan 27 1012 - daimons are on the move

Nightfall of the East had marched from Lopa via Yncaalo and Wheling to Drinilla - thus IVF was practically cut off as both Drinilla and Ketampkin were held by daimon forces.

Darkest Hour of the North evades Thalmarkin and Old Grehk in Gemke and heads for the mountains of Jedinchel.

Jan 28 1012 - 2nd Battle of Gorin and 3rd Battle of Gorin

Enweil and Riombara lose the morning battle (17.000 humans against 16.500 daimons under Overlord and Midnight of the South) but win the evening battle (12.700 against 8.000 daimons under Midnight of the South). Overlord loses most of his units during the first battle and disappeares from the battlefield by the evening.

Jan 29 1012 - 4th battle of Gorin and 1st battle of Jedinchel

Enweil and Riombara finally lose in Gorin against reinforced daimons - Midnight of the South is reinforced by Overlord leading 12.000 and Midnight of the West leading over 8.000. With this loss the defense of central Enweil collapses - the daimons advance mercilessly.

Darkest Hour of the North and his unit of Black Daimons had begun a takeover of Jedinchel but through two days of heavy fighting in the mountains, he is thoroughly defeated and flees back to the Blight. 2nd Son was also arrested lurking in the mountains.

Jan 30 1012 - 4th Battle of Fengen and 5th Battle of Fengen

Midnight of the West attacked Fengen to destroy the retreating Enweilian army but he failed to accomplish his mission. During the second assault, Overlord and another Midnight joined in to aid Midnight of the West. The overwhelming forces of daimons left nothing but ruins on their path. After their victory, daimons begin a TO of Fengen, the capital of Enweil.

The following day Darkest Hour of the North leading a new group of Black Daimons, attacks Lastfell then quickly cuts south into the lands of Melhed.

February

Multiple priests and priestesses of Daimon Worship flood the northern reaches of Sint and begin spreading their faith. At least 8 are known to have been spotted so far.

The Netherworld takes Pahk as the relief forces fail to stop the takeover. As a result the city of Iato being cut off from humanity falls under the shadow of the blight.

Daimons are trying to take Lopa in order to blight Enweilieos - acording to Overlord, this will allow daimons to blight the city without having to take the region. Riombara engages them hoping to break the takeover: 11.300 humans against 30.300 daimons under Nightfall of the East, Midnight of the South and Midnight of the West but are badly defeated.

1st Son was executed in Vur Hagin by Yorick Sypher of Fronen.

Feb 28 2012 - Realm of Fwuvoghor formed

Riombaras nobility finds that their chancellor Hvrek had attempted to enter into an agreement with the daimons. This led to him being protested out of office and being declared a traitor. He then did seceed the duchy of Fwuvoghor to form a new realm called Fwuvoghor. Imperskoe Viys'ko iz Fheuv'na and Riombara both declare war on the realm, Riombara with the aim to have Hvrek executed.

March

  • Realm of Fwuvoghor has lost all of its regions after Overlord's relentless attacks.

Mar 19, 1012 - daimon priest executed

The Daimon 11th Son was publicly executed in Ossmat.

Mar 22, 1012 - Morning Clouds

As the sun rises, it shines through misty clouds moving in unnatural patterns. It is still warm and there has been no rain for days. The peasants had just been rejoicing that the last time nothing evil happened, after all. They are now afraid once more, though there is no open panic.

Mar 23, 1012 - The Weather Today

The clouds are slowly lifting, and temperatures are returning to normal. Except in the north, where they continue to plummet until they reach record lows. This time around, however, the peasants shake their heads, take out an additional item of clothing, and continue to plow the fields.

Mar 24, 1012 - 1st Battle of Daisha

Nightfall of the East is captured by Sint following his defeat in Daisha by Old Grehk and Sint.
Netherworld has taken control of Sandlakes.

Mar 26, 1012 - Movement in the Blight

As night approaches, your servants report that the edges of the Blight appear to be moving. It is hard to make out details, but they are scared.
Regions next to the blight report strange, black clouds hang over the region, blocking out the sun for much of the day.

Horrors are spawned

During the end of March, 3 of the four daimon commanders did appear in the north, east and west, leading a new type of daimon unit: the horrors. As humanity found out they were aptly named - these armies each consisted of two units of frontline daimons, capable of flying and executing a devastating charge and one unit of ranged daimons. But even more devastating than their combat strength was their ability to instantly blight any region they took. This should lead to the fall and blighting of most realm capitals on Beluaterra.

March 30, 1012 - 1st Battle of Melegra

Midnight had been raiding IVF lands. Riombara did march into the 7 regions distant Drinilla to engage him, but he vanished into the blight, to reappear in Melegra - 12 regions march away from Riomabras army. They forcemarched home, rested one halfday in their capital Grehk, then marched north to engage Midnight - who was defeated and captured. This came to be known as the 'Long March' in Riombara.

April

April 4, 1012 - 5th Battle of Grehk

Midnight of the South did soon escape Riombaras prisons - and then reapeared in their south, leading the fourth army of horrors. He marched directly on Grehk which was not well defended due to Riombaras army just returning from the battle in Melegra. Grehk was stormed and soon after fell. Riombara moved its capital to Rines.

Capitals are falling

During the first two weeks of April, the daimon horrors did storm, take and blight the following capitals: Firbalt of Sint, Reeds of Nothoi (their last city), Grehk of Riombara, Vur Hagin of Fronen, Fheuvenehm of IVF (thus destroying that realm), Ossmat of Old Grehk and Enweilios of Enweil (their last city). If my records are correct, then Thalmarkin did manage to defend Unger against their initial assault.

In an act of honoured generosity, Fronen did gift their city Dyomoque to Nothoi, thus allowing that realm to survive.

April 18, 1012 - Battle in ?, daimon commanders killed

Thalmarkin, Melhed and Old Grehk engage a combined daimon army near Unger, killing two of its commanders. This leads to the unblighting of a large number of regions - though these regions remain daimon controlled. Thus a shred of hope is kept alive.

April 23, Fheuvuenem blighted, IVF is destroyed

After having taken Grehk, Midnight had marched west. IVF stood little chance against this onslaught - their last remaining city was stormed and soon taken. Their remaining regions did join Enweil or Riombara. Thus did end the realm of the cossacks.

April 25, 1012 - many regions unblighted

Due to Thalmarkins, Melhed and Old Grehks success the former capital cities Fheuvenem, Reeds and Firbalt were unblighted, together with the near entire rim of blighted regions in the north. This did also open a corridor between the North and the previously cut off South.

April 26, 1012 - 4th Battle of Enweilios

After having taken and blighted Fheuvenehm, Midnight of the South did march against Enweilios. Riombaras army was marching to Enweils aid, but due to Fheuvnems duke having changed allegiance to Enweil the takeover of that city did proceed a lot faster than anticipated. This fatefully allowed Midnight to reach - and storm - Enweilios one day before the riombaran relief army could reach the city.

April 29, 1012 - 5th Battle in Enweilios

Together with the enweilian remnants, Riombara did assault Midnight in Enweilios, trying to break his takeover though there was little hope. 15.000 Riombarans and 3.000 enweilians fell to Midnight this cursed day. Enweilios, Enweils last city was soon blighted though that realm hung on.

The daimons change tactics

During May the daimons did decide to destroy rural regions instead of marching directly against cities. This should likely prove humanities salvation as it allowed the human realms to avoid the daimon armies and to engage them only when - more or less - ready.

Overlord reappears

After having vanished from sight for a time, Overlord did reappear sometimes during the beginning of May. Due to Thalmarkins stalwarth defense and their taunting of him he makes that realm his primary target.

May 20, 1012 - Battle against Overlord

Melhed and Thalmarkin did engage Overlord, tough the location of this battle is currently unknown. To humanities dismay the daimons lead by Overlord would prove to be the deadliest beasts ever to walk this continent....their charge did result in over 40.000 wounds inflicted and did smash the human shieldwall. 20.000 warriors from Melhed and 10.000 from Thalmarkin fell this day.

A few days later Midnight of the East commits genocides in Winifael.

May 29, 1012 - 1st Battle of Rumannen

After withdrawing from Enweilios, Riombara frantically did strengthen the defenses of Rines - only to learn that due to the changed daimon tactics the feared assault against the last bastion in the south would not materialize. Midnight did ravage Enweils western regions - and Riombara did decide to march against him. After a march of 8 regions, Midnight was attacked in Rumannen by 17.000 - but his charge did once again devastate the human front rank. Still, even as his frontline daimons grew in strength after each battle, their numbers did start to diminish from 380 to 330....though of the 20.000 Riombarans that did march only 3.000 did return.

June

June 02, 1012 - Firbalt retaken

The unblighting of a large number of regions due to the daimon commanders having been slain in Thalmarkin allowed Sint to reclaim its old capital - though they did not send any further aid towards the battlefields near Unger.

June 04, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Winifael

OG, Thalmarkin, and Melhed attacked Overlord in Winifael but they were crushed quickly, Thalmarkin losing 29.000, Melhed 11.000. This loss made Overlord besiege Unger.

June 14, 1012 - 1st Battle of Mio Dupaki

After having vanquished Riombara in Rumannen, Midight of the South had laid waste to Droxago, Lopa and Kuugl, slaughtering all in his path. Riombara did confront him a third time in Mio Dupaki - and even though the battle did rage for some time, was again defeated. Still, another 100 of the feared daimons were slain, leaving a front rank of 210. Riombaran losses were 16.000.

June 20 1012 - 3rd Battle in Unger, Overlord Killed!

The glorious third battle of Unger was won by the allied armies of the north: Thalmarkin, Melhed and Old Grehk has assembled what strength they could to relieve Unger. In the ensuing clash Sir Pyrix managed to wound and kill Overlord - after which the last feared daimons of his personal host were literally torn to pieces. This single battle did finally end Overlords reign of terror - and humanity once again seemed to have a future on Beluaterra. In a last message, Overlord states that 30 days remain during which humanity has to kill his remaining commanders, then the chance to unblight part or all of the current darklands will be lost forever.

June 22, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Ardmore, Midnight of the South Killed!

Riombara met Midnight for the fourth and final time in Ardmore. The daimons did execute their feared charge, but the humans in return did inflict over 14.000 wounds in the initial clash, then went on to crush the daimon frontline and wound Midnight mortally: 33.000 daimon strength against 29.000 humans. The daimons were completely eliminated, riombaran losses numbered 17.000.

June 24, 1012 - 1st + 2nd Battles of Rollbury

In the North Old Grehk, Thalmarkin and Fronen engage the Norhten Blight Daimon in Rollbury: 19.700 humans against 8.800 daimons. The beasts are routed twice this day with heavy losses, though their commander manages to escape each time. Human losses are relatively light at 3.000.

June 24, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Glongin against a new daimon commander

Darkest Hour of the South appears in Rueffilo, apparently leading 13.000 Horrors. The battered riombaran army that did destroy his precedessor 2 days before in Ardmore clashes with him: 8.500 riombarans against the daimons - who turn out to command 17.000 instead of the anticipated 7.000. The riombarans are crushed, though they manage to kill half the daimon frontline. Human losses number 6.000.

Around this time Thalmarkin takes the city of Sandefur - the first city to be retaken from those having been covered in 'old' blight.

June 25, 1012 - 1st Battles of Vale and Ieara

Melhed is fighting Midnight of the East in Ieara: 12.900 humans against 6.900 daimons. Melhed crushes the daimon battleline but the daimon commander escapes with his life. Fronen, Nothoi and Sint engage the Wastern Blight Creature in Vale but are routed. 5.100 daimons remain.

June 27, 1012 - 1st Battle of Rengo

The slippery Midnight of the East did escape Melheds pursuit, recruited a new force of daimons and attacked part of Melheds army in Rengo, routing them: 9.900 daimons against 3.700 humans - but even though the Melhed force is heavily outnumbered they still manage to kill half the daimon frontline.

June 28, 1012 - 2nd battle of Vale

Fronen and Sint once again engaged the western Blight Creature - but could not defeat him.

June 29, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Avengmil - Darkest Hour of the South killed!

5 days after their first encounter with Darkest Hour, the riombarans exact revenge: 15.700 daimons assault 16.900 riombarans. The humans let the daimons gain the first row of Avengmils fortifications, then rush in and pin the daimons. In the ensuing slaughter Darkest Hour is mortally wounded no less than five times.

June 30, 1012 - Southern Blight pushed back and a new daimon commander sighted.

The recent victory against Darkest Hour of the South results in the southern rim of the blight receeding - most importantly from Grehk and Ete City but also from Rii, Rueffilo, Bym, Thromegor, Nemeno and Fymen Otu. At the same day a new daimon commander is sighted in Rueffilo, leading 12.500 north towards Glongin

June 30, 1012 - 2nd and 3rd Battles of Rengo

Melhed engages Midnight of the East once again: 12.200 humans against 8.300 daimons. Melheds battlehardened warriors slaughter the daimons - but even though they wound the enemy commander once, Midnight of the East again escapes...for the fourth time. In the following morning Melhed eliminates the last surviving daimons - except for their commander who escapes yet again even after taking three wounds. He slips into the blight in Bil Havil.

July

July 1, 1012 - 1st Battle of Lezzel

Sint faces the northern Blight Creature in Lezzel, defeating them with ease: 50 daimons attack 1.800 human warriors. The daimon commander however escapes.

July 3, 1012 - 3rd Battle of Sheja, 3rd + 4th of Glongin, daimon captured!

Fronen attacks the western Blight Creature in Sheja: 7.300 humans against 8.800 daimons. The strong charge of the daimons breaks both human battlelines and Fronen is routed - but at least 20-25 of the 90 frontline daimons are slain.

In the south Riombara attacks the southern Blight Creature: 14.300 against 14.800. The daimons can - barely - hold the field. Even though near all of the daimons are driven from the field, only 160 of 380 are truly killed. Riombara loses 6.000 - but the humans manage to capture the daimon commander. On sunset both forces clash again: 10.700 daimons attack 12.300 humans including some desperately needed reinforcements - but this time the daimons are lured into a trap, spending their charge only to be met by a rush of the main infantry line. 160 of 220 daimons perish, the rest are wounded.

July 4, 1012 - 5th Battle of Glongin - daimon executed!

Fighting for a third - and last! - time, riombaran warriors kill most of the remaining blight creatures: 4.400 daimons charge 8.200 humans but each of the three daimon units is surrounded and dispatched seperately. Human losses are comparatively light. Later this day, to great rejoicing, the southern Blight Creature is lead out of Riombaras dungeons and beheaded on Rines main square. This - so all fervently hoped - would end the 'southern line' of the daimon commanders....however, that hope did prove to be shortlived.

One day after the execution of the daimon commander the blight did receed from the cities of Irombro, Eylmon and Jidington - and from the regions of Bolkenia, Elloranaal and Epinotke.

July 5, 1012 - 3rd and 4th Battles of Bisana

Five days after having been defeated by Melhed, Midnight of the East having recruited yet another army in the blighted Bil Havil is engaged by Melhed in Bisana: 15.200 humans engage 450 daimons of a strength of 16.500. Melhed nearly eliminates the whole daimon frontline (270 of 300) and wounds Midnight three times - but is driven from the field. The daimon commander has been unbelievably lucky so far: Melhed did fight five pitched battles against him, destroying two whole daimon armies and wounding him at least 8 times by now.

On sunset both forces clash again - 280 daimons of a strength of 12.000 charge a human strength of 9.700. Melhed breaks the daimon frontline but then their line is exhausted and the daimons take the field. Even though their commander is wounded thrice he does survive.

July 6, 1012 - 5th Battle of Bisana

With typical northern tenacity, Melhed once again engages the daimons: 180 daimons of a strength of 8.400 charge 5.800 humans. Once again the daimons are victorious, but by now their whole frontline is near destroyed. The daimon is wounded once - bringing the total count to 12 wounds inflicted during the last battles.

July 7, 1012 - new daimon spotted

To the dismay of Riombara yet another daimon was spotted heading towards the battlefield of Ardmore: (the 2nd) southern Blight Daimon, commanding 21.000

July 8, 1012 - 1st Battle of Zwering

After having been defeated in Lezzel, the northern Blight Creature does reapper leading a new army. Sint bravely engages it: 7.200 humans attack 280 daimons of a strength of 14.700 - however, two daimon charges shatter the human shieldwall. The daimons lose around 10 of their frontline, Sint close to their total force.

July 9, 1012 - 1st Battle of Keffa, daimon killed!

After having defeated Sints field army in Zwering the day before, northern Blight Creature attacks Sints capital Keffa: 250 daimons attack a medium force of 870 humans - but amazingly, the humans prevail, capture the daimon commander and execute him on the battlefield. This does lead to the unblighting of Ossmat, Bil Havil and another row of regions along the northern rim in Thalmarkin and Sint - most notably the cities of Sandefur and Fianik.

July 9, 1012 - 1st Battle of Trottie, 1st Battle of Wudenkin

103 daimons of a strength of 5.700 under the command of Midnight of the East attack 8.200 warriors from Melhed. Since the daimons lost their entire frontline during the previous battles Melhed can engage the archery daimons directly - though smashing them still costs Melhed a quarter of their force. Midnight is wounded once.

In the center of Beluaterra the western Blight Creature attacks Fronens capital Wudenkin: 115 daimons of a strength of 8.400 attack 6.200 human defenders. All but 12 daimons are wounded or killed but they drive off the defenders. The commander is wounded once. Still, the surviving 55 daimons leave by sunrise - obviously preferring not to meet the rallying human defenders.

July 10, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Trottie

Following their victory of the previous sunset, Melhed engages the surviving 50 daimons, defeating them with relative ease. Midnight however once again escapes.

July 13, 1012 - 1st Battle of Verdomite, daimon killed!

An allied force of Old Grehk, Fronen and Nothoi does engage the battered but still strong daimon army of western Blight Creature: 13.200 humans attack 105 daimons of a strength of 7.900. The initial clash is fierce - but the daimon frontline is completely shattered. The humans then advance against the archery daimons, driving them before them. To great rejoicing the daimon commander is slain - which leads to the unblighting of around 15 regions along the western rim of the blight, among them the cities of Iato, Creasur, Thagalez and Heen.

July 14, 1012 - 1st Battle of Cjelegy, daimon killed!

After the tripple battle in Glongin and the sighting of a new daimon a desperate rebuilding effort had taken place in Riombara. This new but brittle army did meet the 2nd southern Blight Creature in Cjelegy: 24.600 humans did advance against 400 daimons of a strength of 24.000. Even though these daimons were relatively young their charge was a lot stronger than those of the previous Blight Creature: the initial clash did result in over 16.000 wounds inflicted. Once the main battlelines did meet, the humans were able to shatter the daimon line...and in doing so their main wedge drove towards the enemy commander - slaying him. However, the effort of doing so did exhaust the riombarans enough to allow to archery daimons to drive the humans from the field.

Soon after this victory three regions are unblighted: Cagamir, Ovujemeh and Brovyl.

July 16, 1012 - new daimon type sighted

After sunset the riombaran region of Melegra was invaded by a new daimon commander: 'eastern Portal Guardian', commanding 320 daimons of a strength of 32.000. One has to assume both that there are more eastern Portal Guardians than this one - and that there are three more groups of Portal Guardians in the north, west and south respectively. In addition, until more is known about their abilities one may safely fear the worst.

One day later southern Portal Guard is sighted in Bolkenia, heading north...northern Portal Guardian is sighted in Wailing Wood threatening Unger - but then moves southeast against Melhed. Western Portal Guardian is sighted in Sint.

July 17, 1012 - 3rd Battle of Dyomoque

Western Blight Daimon attacks Dyomoque with over 10.000 - and defeats the nothian defenders.

July 19, 1012 - 1st Battle of Gethsemene + 1st Battle of Rines

At sunrise, Midnight of the East assaults Gethsemene with 19.300 - and due to the city being only lightly defended gains control of its walls.

At sunset Southern Portal Guardian assaults the fortress of Rines - his 300 daimons of a strength of 20.700 meet the full might of Riombara: 30.700 are manning the walls. The charging daimons gain the battlements twice but are destroyed during their second assault. The Riombarans then drive the archery daimons from the field with relative ease - but their commander excapes even though he is wounded thrice. The daimons lose 170 of 300, the humans only 4.400. However, news reach Riombara that the other daimon leader, eastern Portal Guard, has stormed Athol Margos while the battle did rage in Rines.

July 20, 1012 - 3rd Battle of Avengmil + 1st Battle of Athol

Having defeated southern Portal Guadian in Rines before, the riombaran army marches towards Athol to relieve the city which is besieged by the forces of eastern Portal Guardian. This leaves Rines' militia facing southern Guardian. The riombarans hope to be able to kill eastern Guardian - which would unblight 4 cities and a swath of territory right before the gates close. Thus they march to Avengmil - where they meet the southern Guardian who is withdrawing from Rines: 135 daimons of a strength of 11.600 attack 12.600 riombarans. They daimons gain the walls of Avengmil but are thrown back and destroyed. Losses are 100 daimons and 3.000 humans.

After their victory, while grimly marching towards Athol the earth trembles and Beluaterra is riven asunder - Overlord draws the remaining blighted regions with him, forever dashing the hopes of saving what still lies under his control.

At sunset, Riombara faces eastern Guardian in Athol, even though their main hope has been dashed by the closing gates: 300 daimons of a strength of 20.200 attack 11.000 human defenders who man the stronghold of Athol. The daimons are thrown back fro the walls several times, but in the end their strength proves too vast for the defenders who are overrun. The daimons lose 60 of their 150 strong frontline, the humans lose 8.000. A bitter sunset indeed.

July 20, 1012 - The Closing of the Gates - and the End of the Fifth Invasion!

After sunrise Overlord follows through on his threat - amid thunder and the rumbling of the earth all lands that still lie under the blight a riven from Beluaterra, forever changing its landscape. Waters rush in where once fertile fields have beckoned.

This leaves 1 Midnight army, 2 Blight Creature armies and 3 Portal armies stranded on Beluaterra as the last vestiges of the fifth Invasion- however, they are now leaderless and will not spread damage beyond their current position. Humanity has survived, did counter Overlords plans and even reclaimed vast territories from the blight. Still, the price was high - but those that did pay it will never be forgotten!

July 22, 1012 - 1st Battle of Junohep, daimon host destroyed

The daimons formerly led by western Portal Guardian are engaged in Junohep by Old Grehk, Sint and Fronen: 300 daimons of a strength of 20.600 charge 25.600 humans. The human allies let the daimons charge their shieldwall to fix the daimons, enduring 8.000 wounds each. But then the massive human cavalry arm charges: 560 lances crash into the daimons, thus over 15.000 wounds are inflicted on the daimons in the second hour of battle near destroying the daimon frontline. After this the humans advance and rout the remaining beasts who are driven from the field of battle never to return.

A few days later Enweil takes Ete City.

July 28, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Gethsemene

At sunset warriors from Sint and Old Grehk attempt to sneak into the fortress to man the walls - and they are successfull: the daimons formerly commanded by Midnight of the East have to assault the fortress: 660 daimons of a strength of 24.700 charge 17.800 defenders. The daimons gain the walls three times only to be dislodged. At the fifth hour the fortress gates open and the allied cavalry charges the by now already halfed frontline - and their fierce charge kills or wounds another 100 daimons, inflicting over 8.000 wounds. The allies then advance to finish off the enemy frontline and on towards the archery daimons. However, the nearer the humans get the the daimon archers, the deadlier their fire does become - and the 11th hour the human shieldwall dissolves. This does leave both sides to send volley after volley against each other, to relatively little effect - and after further 9 hours the battle finally ends. Come sunrise another battle is looming...though the daimons will have been much diminished.

Riombara retakes their former capital, the city of Grehk. Only 400 peasants remain, starving in the empty streets of the former fortress.

July 29, 1012 - 3rd Battle of Gethsemene, daimon host destroyed

Following their victory of the day before, Old Grehk and Sint face the remaining 40 daimons - the fell beasts are surrounded and destroyed to the last. Thus does end the host of Midnight of the East. Four more hosts do remain.

July 30, 1012 - 4th Battle of Rengo

Melhed bravely does engage the strong daimon force in Rengo that had been led by northern Portal Guardian: 13.700 humans engage 290 daimons of a strength of 21.900. To the relief of the northern warriors the daimons seem to be missing the usual ferocity - the northerners manage to wound or kill the whole 140 strong daimon frontline and 40 of the archery daimons before having to withdraw. To further delight the wounded daimons seem to vanish instead of heal.

August

August 1st, 1012 - 5th Battle of Rengo, daimon host destroyed

This day marks the end of another daimon force - Melhed surrounds the remaining 50 daimons which are put to the sword. Thus ends the host of northern Portal Guardian.

Starvation drives the peasants of Grehk to rebellion - the city goes rogue.

August 02, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Athol Margos, daimon host destroyed

With all their cities starving and their rurals only kept under tenous control, Riombara is hard pressed to replenish their losses. Taxes are scant and instead of the 8-9.000 joining the banner as during the heyday only 2-3000 can be recruited each taxday. Thus Riombara had been unable to engage the host of eastern Portal Guardian that had been devastating Athol - it did appear necessary to give up the city. Though once news reached the south that wounded daimons would not heal the decision was taken to gamble all on that single piece of information: after two weeks of dredging up every single availiable coin, Riombara did once again march to face the last daimon force in the south: At sunset 16.000 humans expecting to confront 21.000 daimons were astonished to learn that only 13.300 of the fell beasts would actually face them. In the ensuing clash all daimons were killed or wounded - and come sunrise even those howling shades desperately attempting to regain form did vanish. Thus did end the host of eastern Portal Guardian - only two more hosts remained.

August 07, 1012 - 1st Battle of Djembe

Sint does attack the host of 2nd northern Blight Creature - but once again the daimons prevail.

August 12, 1012 - 2nd Battle of Djembe

On this day the host formerly commanded by 2nd northern Blight Creature is destroyed once and for all - to great rejoicing in all of northwestern Beluaterra! This leaves but one last daimon host in Ippetimbal
