+ | article = The rogue assassin Jorel of Kent was captured in [[East Continent/Bescanon|Bescanon]] two days ago during an attempted break-in at the tax offices. During his time in prison, Jorel of Kent admitted in letters to Arch Priestess Balkeese that he had come to Perdan to assassinate several nobles and collect their bounties. In payment for his crimes, Lady Balkeese sentenced Jorel of Kent to execution by hanging.

+ | However, the execution was marred by the escape of Jorel of Kent. Through some as yet unknown method, Jorel of Kent managed to overcome a guard. The guard was disguised as Jorel, drugged, and switched out for Jorel. The deception was not uncovered until after the hapless guardsman was executed in Jorel's place. The city guard has been called out, and a city-wide search is in progress to capture Jorel. His location is unknown, and it is feared he may have escaped the city altogether.

In every land, in every age, there are always tyrants that will prey on those who are weaker than themselves. Given free reign, they will spread their lies across the land. They build empires on a foundation of deceit, manipulation, and boundless ambition. Left unchecked these tyrants will devastate East Island, and all it's inhabitants, in wars without end. The Kingdom of Perdan will not stand idly by while the East Island is led into ruin and destruction. The Rampant Lion will stand forth as a beacon of truth regarding the travails of Perdan as it seeks to oppose those who would bring destruction upon our lands. As events in Perdan unfold, they will be chronicled here so all people on the East Island have access to an accurate, fair accounting of the events taking place in our world. | for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing. - Edmund Burke (attrib.) |
