Located on two small islands in the center of Dwilight. It has 2 cities, 2 Townslands, 1 rural region and 1 fortress. All but a few shipping lanes pass through Shadovar. |
History
Shadovar's history had been quite bloody from the domination of its peasants and often nobles to its rebellions and secessions.
Origins
Under the direction of Edelstein Greneburie, a select few nobles of Pian en Luries took Port Nebel with the intention of creating a new realm. This intention was known to the government of Pian en Luries, and as such Duke Edelstein's secession generated little surprise and unrest within the realm. At the time of secession Shadovar consisted of Port Nebel, Nebel, and Qubel.
Melodian War
After an attack on Port Raviel by Shadovarian troops, Melodia, Caerwyn, and Madina declared war upon Shadovar. The attack had been prompted by the conflict between claims of land, specifically the Port Raviel island. However, the three-on-one war concerned many of Shadovar and Dictator Edelstein Greneburie was quick to try to work things out.
Melodian Rebellion
As Dictator Edelstein tried to work things out with Monarch Albert De Blanc, a contest of power for the throne broke out in Melodia, led by Quintus Scarlett. After a few days, Melodia had a new leader, which opened up new opportunities for Shadovar. Would Shadovar attack Melodia, taking advantage of their weakened state? Or would they try to negotiate with the new leader - Consul Quintus Scarlett - and get over the claims?
Alliance
Deferring to the latter option, Shadovar tried to make things work with Melodia. Through continued proposals between the opposing realms, a treaty was settled upon and signed by both governments. The terms were much more respectable than those that the deposed Albert De Blanc had tried to make Shadovar comply with and can be found here.
Monster Wars
Following the formation of the Alliance, hoards of monsters began to crop up throughout Dwilight, crushing Melodia and infesting almost every region of the Shadovaran Islands. Stretched thin by the ongoing rebuilding of Raviel Island following the winter season, Shadovaran forces suffered numerous defeats to the monsters, losing many key counties. However, following the coming of several nobles from other realms shattered by the monsters or otherwise seeking their fortunes in the Islands, Shadovar began to push the creatures back from their lands. By winter of that year, Shadovar had reclaimed Raviel, Port Raviel, Nebel, and Port Nebel, though Qubel and Qubel Lighthouse remained in the hands of the creatures.
The End
Following some inner turmoil, the city of Port Raviel seceded to form the realm of D'Hara. After a short war between the two realms, D'Hara conquered Port Nebel, Shadovar's capital. The region of Nebel quickly changed allegiance to D'Hara, and Shadovar's story came to a close. Shadovar now exists only in the history books.
Religion
Shadovar has no state religion at this time and it is not illegal to start a new religion, Though a religion must obtain the permission of the local lord/Duke before either preaching or building temples. If a new Lord or Duke refuses to allow that religion to preach or build any new temples, that is his/her right. However it is not permissible to tear down existing temples unless either 1. Permission is obtained from the religion, 2. There are no (0) believers in that faith in that region. 2a. the religion must be notified and given the opportunity to remove any gold from the temple. 2b. It is preferred that the priest(s) of that religion be given the opportunity to tear down their own temple. The cost of which is the responsibility of the Lord of the region.
