A HUGE End
May 31, 1011

In a huge surprise, we are able to print out one more article thanks to Ibladesh and their attack on Woolton against Perdan. A huge battle ensued with Ibladesh sending in roughly 1900 troops against the defending Perdan armies holding roughly 1570 strong. After fighting for hours on end, the Perdan army stood victorious over the invading Ibladesh army. Though the details are...lacking, it is one of the largest scale battles the south has seen in years. And again we like to leave on a high note, so good luck everyone and hope to have our readers (and more) return with next months new articles!

The End of the Month
May 30, 1011

To finish the month, there was very little to report on. Peace in the northeast between Sirion and Fontan, very little news trickling out of the south....oh and a couple of recent battles between the Obsidian Islands and Sultanate of Asena in Kazan which ultimately lead to a few nobles being wounded and Emperor Shady being captured as well. This war continues to show a huge power struggle between the two, with the advantage on a constant shift change, who will end up the winner of this one? We will have to wait and see...Thank you all for reading this month and keep checking in as a new issue for a new month is only a couple days away (hopefully).

Peace Is Reachable
May 27, 1011

Nobody ever thought this report would come, nobody ever said that Fontan and Sirion would accept a peace while the other was still around. Well the impossible has come to pass, Fontan and Sirion have reached a peace agreement! After declining a Sultanate of Asena peace plea earlier this month, Fontan saw that they had to worry about themselves first and foremost, and struck a grand peace accord with Sirion one that is great for the both of them. A huge congratulations to both realms, may the peace be long and fruitful.

A Break
May 27, 1011

A few days have gone by now, and it would seem all is quiet, everywhere around the continent. Are all the realms refitting? Is everyone working towards a peace? Great to see less death though we must admit, makes for a boring news week.

Ibladesh Holds
May 24, 1011

Forces from Caligus attacked Igno where a small garrison of Ibladesh troops stood ready to defend their home. After a heavy and brutal battle, Caligus troops found themselves defeated on the field. The Ibladesh troops celebrate a victory, even if it is a small one.

Death Duel Rejected
May 23, 1011

A message was received, addressed to the editors, of such a magnitude that it had to be printed immediately. It would seem that an Ibladesh noble, one Kalte Lanze, the Baron of Ar Raqqah sent a disrespectful message about Queen Balkeese of Perdan. Here with the Obsidian News we did not see fit to share the message, it has done enough damage. So in response to this, Rhennthyl Bedwyr, a Knight of Mulhouse in Perdan has sent a Duel to the Death in response. It has also been reported that Baron Kalte Lanze has declined to fight to the death over the message sent. One must hope that is an isolated incident and not all of Ibladesh holds such disrespectful attitude towards a noble, heroic sacrifice on the battlefield. Enemy or not, we are all nobles and should treat each other with honor and respect.

A Queen Dies, A Heroic Death
May 23, 1011

Currently this article is being written and under review by OI editors, and awaiting word from both Perdan Nobles and Ibladesh Nobles who would like to add, or subtract certain things from being said, any who would like to contact us we would be honored to hear from you.

On The Lighter Side
May 21, 1011

This article is for those that wish to see some more uplifting, more "good" sided news to things. Here is an attempt at that. On the positive note around the continent, for the first time in many, many years, Sirion and Fontan have raised relations to "Neutral". It is believed that this signifies that peace has come between the realms, though no official treaty has been released to the continent as of yet. If peace has been achieved between these two, long time rivals then a huge congratulations from everyone here at the Obsidian News, this is one of the best, more positive things we have been able to write about in a long time. We wish both realms the best of luck.

Battleground: Abadan
May 21, 1011

Abadan was a battleground for a huge battle between Ibladesh and Caligus forces. It is believed that Ibladesh has a majority of their force focused on Perdan after putting up such a poor showing in the battle of Abadan against Caligus. With the lack of reports coming in from the south, it leaves many to wonder where the main forces of Perdan, Caligus and Ibladesh are, and perhaps more importantly, how Ibladesh could possibly hope to hold, or even advance, against two strong fronts.

Kazan Turbulence
May 21, 1011

Kazan has been going through some tough times, it is one of the hardest regions to live in. Between the battles in the region, the lack of food and the lack of a consistent government force ruling over them the region is seriously lacking in stability.

SoA and Monsters
May 18, 1011

Well, the Sultanate of Asena shows yet again why they cannot handle the battlefield. They sent most of their army into Kazan, attacking the Obsidian Islands army, along with the Sultanate troops marched the monsters. It is no surprise, that the Asenians would march along the side of monsters as they know they could not win without some kind of help. The battle may be lost, but the Sultanate of Asena can never hope to hold the Obsidian Islands army back, as the Sultanate of Asena army crumbles more and more every day.

Power Rankings
May 16, 1011

Last Month --- This Month: 1: Sirion --- Ibladesh 2: Ibladesh --- Sirion 3: Caligus --- Perdan 4: Perdan --- Caligus 5: Westmoor --- Westmoor 6: Fontan --- Obsidian Islands 7: Sultanate of Asena --- Sultanate of Asena 8: Obsidian Islands --- Fontan 9: Diocese of Aix --- Diocese of Aix - Defeated

Keep in mind these rankings are not based on current military power alone, it is a combination of the following: Current number of regions, current amount of nobles, military power, recent and past actions since last ranking and regional performance (how good/poor of shape the regions under control of the realm are).

Monthly Update
May 16, 1011

Usually done at the beginning of the month this one comes a little later. Here is an update on the current wars. Obsidian Islands has managed to take Kazan and hold onto for more then a single day. Fontan has moved their capital to Ashforth to try and hold on to life and regroup. Diocese of Aix lost their only city, Aix, and has been defeated by Perdan. Perdan has also managed to take Castle Ubent from Ibladesh and also seems to be gaining the rogue regions now as well. Caligus has taken and secured An Najaf and Abadan. Westmoor gained Krimml through a peasant revolt against Fontan and occupying Sirion troops.

Finally, the stats you have all been looking forward to. Which side holds an advantage, if any? The Allies (Caligus, Obsidian Islands, Perdan, Sirion), or the Federations (Fontan, Ibladesh, Sultanate of Asena, Westmoor? Let us take a look....

Allies: Total about 116k forces Federations: Total about 106k forces Top Ally Realm (cs wise): Caligus with 38k Top Federation Realm (cs wise): Ibladesh with 55k

Now onto the regional control part of our presentation:

Allies: 64 regions Federations: 49 regions Top Ally Realm (most regions): Sirion with 24 Top Federation Realm (most regions): Ibladesh with 26

Finally, the last part of our update, the current noble counts:

Allies: 209 Nobles Federations: 189 Nobles Top Ally Realm (most nobles): Sirion with 91 Nobles Top Federation Realm (most nobles): Ibladesh with 92 Nobles

SoA Still Kicking
May 15, 1011

In an attempt to prove this paper, and the world, wrong about their current situation, the Sultanate of Asena sent a force into Gadlock to clear out the Sirion occupation forces that where holding the region. This is quite a showing by the Sultanate of Asena army, what will they do next? Will they work on Gadlock to avoid having another region revolt? Will they move up and take Salta to connect their realm again? Will they move against the Obsidian Islands army? Time will tell...yes only time will tell.

Perdan Advances
May 15, 1011

After finishing off the Diocese of Aix some wondered what Perdan would be next. Well, it was either sign peace with Ibladesh or attack, and many knew that peace was very unlikely. Well, if anyone did believe that Perdan and Ibladesh were going to sign into a peace, the recent acquisition by Perdan, taking Castle Ubent, should show there will be no peace. With such a strong region, with a very high defense value, this could be one of the perfect launching points for Perdan to strike Ibladesh with, of course this is assuming the walls are rebuilt and militia placed.

Fontan Moves
May 12, 1011

After losing their capital in Krimml some time ago, Fontan has finally found their new capital in Ashforth. Will this new capital mean a new life for Fontan? Or perhaps a new revival of their armies? Of course this could also mean they now see that war is not the way and only by accepting peace, even one they may not like, will they survive, to see new life and live on to fight another day.

DoA Finished
May 12, 1011

It seems that Perdan has finished the Diocese of Aix, having the city of Aix revolt from the Diocese of Aix rule. It has been reported that before letting the city go rogue, the Duke of Aix took down every building possible, leaving nothing to help Perdan fight their federation ally Ibladesh in the future.

Kazakh Surrounded
May 11, 1011

It seems as a last, desperate attempt to prove they are still here to fight, the Sultanate of Asena sent most of their army into Gadlock where it met both Sirion and Obsidian Islands troops on the battlefield. This battle went very well for the Islanders and Elves as the Asenians where beaten quite easily, with several of their nobles getting wounded in the process as well. This leaves Kazan firmly in the control of Obsidian Islands as the Sultanate of Asena has nearly no mobile army left to fight a war with. Now with Gadlock under control of the Sirion military, this leaves the Sultanate of Asena trapped in their capital, Kazakh.

Moyale, Killing Grounds
May 10, 1011

The Ibladesh army moved into Moyale where a large Caligus army was as well. This one of the bloodiest battles so far, as both sides suffered massive amounts of casualties, leaving Moyale to be known more of a killing field then a battleground or even really leave any fields left for farming either. Our prayers go out to all the dead and their families.

Kazan Claimed
May 8, 1011

Kazan has once again joined the Obsidian Islands after the army of Obsidian Islands marched into the region and started a take over. It will take some time to have the region recover, but it seems that with Kazan back in the right hands the people finally have a chance at peace and happiness. What is next for the Islanders, Kazakh? Gadlock? Juazeiro? Or perhaps they are satisfied with helping only Kazan? This paper sure doesn't know, but we look forward to finding out!

SoA Begs for Peace!
May 4, 1011

The Sultanate of Asena has practically begged for peace with Sirion! They see their days are numbered, their regions are falling apart and now they throw their allies in Westmoor and Fontan down the river! They don't care if Sirion finishes off their founding, federation partner in Fontan and also expressed how they do not care if Sirion goes after their ally in Westmoor either! With such beliefs one must wonder what or how Westmoor and Fontan feel now, after defending Sultanate of Asena so much and then be treated in such away.

SoA Hits Wall
May 4, 1011

Stora was attacked by the Sultanate of Asena army, which was met by the Obsidian Islands army on the shores. It was a long, bloody battle, which lead to the Obsidian Islands coming away with a large victory over their enemy neighbors. After the battle, the Obsidian Islands army moved back into Kalmar while the severely weakened Sultanate of Asena army did some minor looting and damage to the region. It is believed they did this in response to the Obsidian Islands army looting Kazan and taking down some military structures, though this is unconfirmed currently.

Victory for Perdan
May 4, 1011

Perdan has done it, they have marched into Aix and defeated the Diocese of Aix. What will the nobles of DoA do now? Most believe that they will head to Ibladesh to continue the war from there, fighting both Caligus and Perdan. A huge congratulations sent out to our allies in Perdan, a well deserved victory!
