Biography
Jovyl Filador, son of Dielo Filador, began his noble career on 30.09.10 in the realm of Carelia. Prior to being an independent noble, he worked as a squire for his father, watching and studying throughout much of the history of Redspan and Tara. He attained knighthood almost immediately after he lead his first personal army out of Upperfell, swearing an oath to the Count of Bolgar. Early in his career, he participated in a number of battles, gaining sufficient honour and prestige to pursue a career as a Hero.
He remained a knight of little repute or importance for around two months until 27.12.10, when Carelia had overrun the city of Skalk, then owned by the Cagilan Empire. A hostile takeover was in progress when city officials were forced into exposing documentation that the rightful lord of the city was none other than the young Jovyl Filador. Severe injuries sustained by the previous duke, Dakkon Blackblade, prevented him from attempting to subvert the installation of Jovyl as his successor. Overnight, Carelian flags were hoisted over the city, and Duke Jovyl began regular lordly duties at dawn.
In the following months, Jovyl continued to hold the city in his firm but benevolent grip. During this time, Jovyl was accorded the honor of founding a guild named Southern Collective to assist the alliance between Carelia, Suville and Caergoth The people of Skalk were generally joyful and even worshipful of their newer duke, who spent countless money on ensuring that the city was kept safe and well-fed, a task that was sometimes very difficult as the Cagilans took up a hobby of pillaging the surrounding regions of Alatol, Garnagi, Dontow, Forblane, and Craigmore into the ground, killing thousands of innocent peasants and destroying the economic function of the regions. In retaliation, the Southern Collective looted a number of Cagilan regions, hoping to give the Duchy of Nida similar problems. Also during this time, Jovyl paid to have his family move from their old home in Lurgrod into an opulent mansion in Skalk.
Personal Information
Jovyl is blessed with a far more attractive appearance than most Filadors. He stands at 1.93m and maintains a slim but well-muscled frame. His skin has a natural bronze shade to it, unlike the extremely pale color of most family members. His hair is a very light brown color, kept short; he is clean-shaven - even at 22 years of age, he is unable to grow significant facial hair. His eyes are a vibrant blue-gray.
Jovyl finds himself the subject of much flirtation from young noblewomen. As a teenager, at his family's urging, he courted a few of the girls that he knew were considered to be the prettiest, but he would quickly become disinterested, and send her away. As he matured, he began to deflect any serious approaches on him by claiming that he was too busy with his studies or work. A friend once reminded him at a feast that he could have his pick of the lot, if he wanted to, to which Jovyl replied, "Do not think that because I don't flaunt my successes in the bedroom like boorish men do, does not mean that I do not partake in the pleasure of the flesh." The same friend later paid one of Jovyl's servants to report on any people that Jovyl allowed into his private quarters. The servant reported that no woman ever gets past the outer office, but that sometimes a man would visit with urgent business during the night, and Jovyl would kick out all of the servants for a while, due to the confidentiality of the matters at hand.
