Monster weaknesses?

I think you should be looking for more than just the monster's weakness... ask the adventurers what they can do, though. ~~Anon

The monsters are our main concern as they are growing at uncontrolled rates with the assistance of some traitorous men who would rather have the beasts reign kings than men. The other factions have known weaknesses/can be dealt with in due time. As for what adventurers can do, I doubt all of them can do whatever it is they can, so asking a random adventurer what they can do is likely to prove unfruitful. ~~Editor
If you cared for humanity perhaps you would share your knowledge, lest finding it out ourselves give the monsters the time they require to overwhelm the continent and sunder civilization for good. ~~Editor
You have heard of these mysterious scrolls that have appeared, of that I have no doubt. They are perhaps a viable way to be used in conjunction with tactics to defeat them. I disagree that the monsters are the main concern, but they are a large one. One such secret in battle to defeating them would be to (when against overwhelming numbers and behind fortifications) use archers in the first battle and have a ready supply of infantry for the Duke to recruit to defend the walls when they split their forces and call upon smaller bands of monsters to overwhelm. Again, this is perhaps a variation you have already considered. ~~Anon
Through time all forms of deployments and army compositions were tried, there is simply nothing to do against their overwhelming numbers and strength. Time spent on concluding ongoing research is time wasted for applying the discoveries. We are aware of the other threats, but they will be much more manageable if we can deal with the monsters first. Fortifications are of negligible use in the grand scheme of things... too easily overtaken, too easily destroyed. Not much of them left already, and militia has proved completely useless in defending them, while our mobile force can't move as fast as the monsters... what's left of it, that is. So perhaps you could enlighten us, as the adventurers probed did not seem to know what you speak of: What *can* they do? ~~Editor
If we look at our history, we wonder how humans ever mastered these lands. We can see then, that it was not through strength of body, but through cunning and wit. If we are still willing to embrace those methods rather than playing to the strength of our enemies, then we will prevail. Since you inquired about the monsters, then here is a small favor, for your pleasure: The Dead feel neither fear nor pain. The Creatures of flesh and blood know both. If your wish is victory on the battlefield, then see to it that your enemies have not the will to meet you in battle, and if they do, that they do not remain willing for long. The Dead feel neither jealousy nor love. The Creatures of passions and heart know both. If your wish is destruction of your enemies' order, then know that not only humans are capable of squabbles and feuds within their ranks. The Dead need neither food nor progeny, for all things must one day die. The Creatures that hunger and breed require both. If your wish is genocide then slaughter their young, sterilize their fertile, destroy their sustenance. If you choose this last one, then remember that monsters are not always defined by their outward forms, that those who seek to fight monsters walk a fine path that easily falls into the same domain as that which one fights. ~~Friend of a Friend
One wonders... I know of the "poisons" of which you speak but not of the means to "inject" them. Ideas come to mind, but they will be risky for the first, and the second... Well, people are usually deaf to the words of their enemies. To make poison echo into their ears and minds will prove an even more difficult task than finding what to say, especially when we can easily serve as a rallying cause for their kind. You speak in leads... I can fill in most of them, but wonder why you take not greater interest into the well-being of your land, the Isle where true men forged great civilizations with sweat and tears, not like the weak men of the other isles who had it all handed to them on a silver plate. All Beluaterrans, Civilizized and backwards, faithful and heathen, should strive for the survival of human predominance on these well-earned lands. ~~Editor
My Friend, to what ends would our involvement serve? Even Enweil has allied her fate with the ones shrouded in Flames. But that you are human, perhaps you still have some hint of humanity remaining? Know this then: The Fiery Ones carry the torch of gods, the Dead Warriors carry the fate of life, the Ravenous Beasts carry the inheritance of the land. What do humans carry? Perhaps you have awakened from strange visions in your sleep, possessing that which should not be possessed. Remember what it means to be human. The one is weak but the many are strong. Perhaps the wise and brave who have not rashly set their fates with the other Three might realize that they can accept their roles as the last defenders of humanity, to see with unclouded eyes, that indeed the Fourth can be born. And so one day, perhaps Man will be master of himself alone, free of the whims of any enemy inhuman. ~~Friend of a Friend
Allies, not slaves of the cleansers. Those who crumbled before them are those who failed to send any aid, so their loss is insignificant, if not other than for strengthening those who saved us from utter destruction. The Daimons extended their hands and friendship from the start, to fight them would be absurd when the monsters decided they wanted to untame all of our lands despite. You speak poetically, but your last sentences make me doubt your wisdom. The "wise and brave" are dead. The foolish who stood up against the daimons have not slowed the down in the least, but rather wasted resources. To be "brave" you must overcome your fears, idiots know no fear, and that is what the westerners were. And from what I see of the first three, I would not be eager to meet this fourth... freedom is an illusion that clouds judgement. We need weapons and resources, not petty ideals to be exploited by those foolish enough to think their new masters will let them be once they get their way. And after all, if one listens to one's dreams, he will understand that the undead are there to save us, and that the daimons' only goal is to purge the monsters. Get rid of the monsters, and the daimons have no reason to bother us. Have the daimons not bother us, and the undead will have nothing left to do. This fourth is likely just to mess everything up. ~~Editor

Old OOC talks

Purple and pink? Seriously? You may want to try something more along the lines of #A13227 and #0D265F. Those are the red and blue colors used on the Enweil banner. --Indirik (talk), Editor (talk) 22:06, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, it was a quick draft. -Chénier 03:36, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Update your ticker. What a noob. :P Vellos 05:32, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Busy busy busy busy! Otherwise you could be sure I'd be gloating a hell of a lot more as well! And the tickers are the most time consuming ones... I'll post another article, though, tickers for... some other day. Maybe the tomorrow, the day after, we'll see. -Chénier 04:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Newer OOC talks

If you want to leave OOC comments here, that is fine. Otherwise, as stated by the "publisher's notes", no IC content from realms such as Mesh will be kept on this page. -Chénier 20:51, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

"Archons"

Given that the "archon" name is something Aarth gave to the Servants of Light for purely OOC reasons, I think it would be best to avoid using it in any more-or-less IC context. --Anaris 17:32, 20 October 2010 (CEST)

Heh, I thought I just had missed a message or two. Always felt more like naming them faeries, personally. That being said, my IC sources have heard of the term "Archon", hence why it's used here. "Servants of the Light" sound so... sinister... To the likes of I, at least. I'll see what I do of that when inspiration hits. -Chénier 17:55, 20 October 2010 (CEST)
