This is guaranteed, 100%, non-SMA. Tom is dead-set against any form of recreational dueling. A duel is a matter of personal honor between the two participants, not a recreational sport. Dueling "tournaments" and recreational dueling are the reason why duels until first blood were removed. --Indirik 13:41, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Indirik's right on this one. There used to be an Atamarra Dueling Association, as well as an East Island Dueling Association... Together they got noticed and duels to first blood got wasted. --Kag 16:18, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I must disagree. I had no idea there were other guilds of this kind already, and since that is true it must be an idea shared by many. What reason can duels not be considered "sport"? There is a thick layer of honour between the combatants, it is a contest. Swordsmanship is an honourable skill, and the pursuit of excellence is an honourable path. Moreover, swordsmanship is a medieval concept, why are nobles barred from building careers off of it? Some dedicate their lives to battle, others to preaching, this guild seeks those who are serious about dueling. My character is very enthusiastic about dueling, so why should he wait to "defend his honour" to challenge someone? Building this guild allows him to regularly test himself and his opponents skill. Tournaments are just not good enough. D.west.ton 21:45, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Disagree all you want, but neither your opinion nor mine matters. Dueling has been officially, and bluntly, ruled as not a sport, recreation, or fun by Tom, and his opinion is, quite honestly, the only one that matters. I suggest you search the archives of the Discussion List for the many long threads about this. As I mentioned, this type of dueling league, and dueling for sport in general, are the reason that Tom removed first blood duel, sometime around the end of 2006. You can check the pages for the East Island Dueling Association for one defunct dueling guild such as yours, and the associated talk page. The original guild for this was, I think, the Atamara Dueling Association, also defunct, and contains a short note about the closing of the guild due to this change. --Indirik 02:55, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Basically what Indirik(Deputy Community Manager) said. Its not our opinion that counts, it is Tom's opinions. One doesn't always get what they want. This is Tom's game. You can try to convince him otherwise(unlike most other game creators), but until then, his word is final. And thats to avoid dueling for sport as evidenced by first blood being removed for the two dueling tournaments. --Ethan Lee Vita (Talk), Editor and Community Manager 21:39, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
