Ridder Family/Mathias
Having been raised by his aunt after both of his parents died; Mathias lived a very sheltered life. His aunt made sure of one things however while he was growing up and that was that he constantly practiced his swordplay. Mathias however preferred the spear, and as a child he would often sneak into the woods and pretend he was riding horse back with his spear extended routing every enemy he came past.
As he grew older he began to ride a real horse and practiced skewering straw dummy's with his spear. When he finally reached the age of 17 his aunt threw him out of the estate to fend for himself.
Mathias would serve Pian en Luries for 2 years before he would become infamous in the realm. With the breakout of the Verus Luria rebellion, Mathias would have his eyes opened to the inefficiency of his current country. Combined with the displeasure he had over his letters being ignored, and the general silence that had befallen the realm, he had begun to talk to the rebel leader, Duchess Katayanna of Poryatown. She would convince him to leave his realm behind and join her fleeing forces in the north. However during his journey to meet up with the rebels, Mathias would be captured by rouge agents and later released back in Askileon. He would then be convinced by Katayanna to work with agents in Pian who were also displeased with the current regime, and to make an attempt to overthrow her. Mathias of course had no intent to actually take the crown of Pian for his own, and left the realm shortly after initiating the rebellion for those remaining to fight it.
Mathias would then find himself in service of the Tyrant Edelstien fighting alongside Katayanna who would also now be under Edlestien's service. It would be a few more years before he would be called on again by Lady Katayanna to strike against an oppressive government. Mathias then working with his friend Yurok of Nebel would plan a successful rebellion in less than a day.
After the rebellion Mathias would go on to reform The Tyranny of Shadovar into the Kingdom of Shadovar with Mathias as the first king. He would appoint Katayanna to the position of Imperial Chancellor, but she was injured nearly immediately and was replaced by Sir Valdrix. During this time Marquis Yurok had begun to gather disapproval from his peers. After the rebellion he came off as a mercenary who would work for the highest bidder. The sad thing was that he never disagreed with this statement. This would be the first step towards the commotion to follow.
At the same time Duchess Katayanna was having problems with Marquis Edith who refused to follow her orders. Duchess Katayanna would eventually call for Edith to step down. The Imperial Chancellor Valdrix seeing this as a move for more power, and an unjust action banned Katayanna form the realm. Afterwords she immediately split off to form the Kingdom of D'Hara. Mathias at this point had had enough of the strife taking place in his realm, and called for Imperial Chancellor Valdrix to step down. With his refusal Emperor Mathias challenged Sir Valdrix to a duel to the death. The duel would end in a draw with Sir Valdrix the more injured, Mathias would take this as a victory in his own eyes, but this had been the last straw.
He would contact his old friend Katayanna and negotiate for his joining of her realm and with him the promise of many more to follow. Out of the deal he would secure himself the Ducal seat of Paisly. With this secured Mathias would leave Port Nebel, and Shadovar behind never to look back. Soon after his movement to D'Hara Duke Conrac of Port Nebel would also join D'Hara helping to secure D'Hara's future as lord of the Isles. The ensuing reunification war would follow suit, and end swiftly with D'Hara being victorious.
For the following months Mathias would venture the lands of the Western Mainland. Traveling from as far north as the Gretchew River to Evanburg. From these regions he would help to fund the Kingdoms many civil projects. Including everything from the healer's guild in Port Raviel to the first Way of the Dragon's Temple. His gold would also help to fund the armies being built within the realm.
On one of his return missions to D'Hara Mathias' ship would be attacked by pirates and he captured. During this time Mathias took as hit to the head which left him with a slight case of amnesia. The pirates would fool the knight into believing that he was one of them, and he would continue to believe this until Dame Katrina would find him and capture him after a short fight. It would take months for Mathias to fully remember who he was, and to come to terms with his new alter-ego.
Shortly after Mathias was starting to come to terms with his split personality he was ordered by his queen to go on an expedition to the north to aid their allies. The campaign would be short seeing as how the war in the north was more or less over by the time they arrived. However along the path north around Freke Mathias would run into an old friend in Hericus Lefanis. Though the talk between the two would be short it would soon spur what would be on Mathias mind come a couple of months.
Upon his return to D'Hara Mathias was at last appointed to his post in Paisly, one that had been long awaited and deserved. However due to some unforeseen circumstances the long time friend of Mathias Queen Katayanna came down with some madness and began to accuse him of Treason. Demanding that he step down from his post and face a tribunal for his supposed crimes, Mathias decided to leave the realm that he had served so loyally in the dust. Then claiming that he would one day return to avenge the deeds that wronged him Mathias boarded a boat in Port Nebel for Mimer. Again though his journey away from the islands would be a short one as news of a rebellion in the isles had reached his ears, and the leader of said rebellion asked for him to return.
Shortly after his return to the isles Mathias was appointed temporary Duke of Port Nebel while his lord and friend Duke Conrac was away. During this time Mathias would begin to use the gold raised in taxes to prepare for a colony in the north with his friend Hericus. The supposed point of colonization was to be Gaston, but due to a lack of nobles to join the two, the group quickly fell apart right before it was set to launch.
It was at this time that Mathias reconnected with his love Sorsha. A woman who he had courted in the past before his exile, and had disappeared around the time that Mathias was asked to leave the realm. The two would go through high points and low points until eventually she would abandon Mathias all together. This would be because of his old friend Duke Conrac return. Sorsha had long ago fallen for the duke and would seemingly do anything for him, yet he would not return the feelings. However in a strange act of cruelty Conrac would confess his love for Sorsha right before he would disappear from teh face of the world. To this date no one knows where the man went. During this time however Mathias refused to leave his office heart broken at the situation that had befallen him. It had seemed as though he had finally regained his love only to lose her to his best friend. Mathias would go unseen for weeks.
It would not be until a visit from the Holy Prophet of the SA that Mathias would leave his quarters. Strangely though almost as if it was fate he would run into Sorsha almost immediately upon leaving his Ducal Palace. Yet something was different about her, more exciting, dangerous, and she called to him at an almost primal level. The sudden change from fine dress to tight leather was a shock for Mathias and he could not tear his eyes from her body. Though as stated she seemed different almost as if she was trying to control him in her speech and at the same time toying with him. Yet he would all to readily give himself to her right then and there had it not been for his servant Duad riding up to announce the Holy Prophets arrival.
