Poryatown
The former capital of Solaria.
Built on the cliffs of Porya overlooking the sea, the white city rests atop the foundation of an ancient eastern colony long since cast to the dirt by the natives of what would become Poryatown. It was the original city and capital of Pian en Luries.
As one approaches the city the sprawl of the poor quarter, thatch huts and dirt roads leads to the towering walls of the city, built from the very bones of the cliff side. Behind the mighty gates, grand causeways of worn marble pipe the great ranks of humanity as they go about their daily lives. The bustling marketplaces and gathered guilds of fine artificers ensure great wealth flows through the city and the people have put it to good use building many libraries, theaters and temples. Polished marble homes line the clean streets, statues and gardens breaking up the white with bronze and green. Truly it is no wonder this is considered the center of learning and culture in all the lands.
Though a peaceful and learned people the hardy folk of the rural lands fight on behalf of their lords with courage and determination, saving the good people of Poryatown from many raids and threats.
History
Due to the constant strife in Pian en Luries and the treachery and Dictator policies of Queen Alanna the duchy of Poryatown seceded from the realm of Pian en Luries. Verus Luria was formed on June 4, 2008 when Kaennji Shenron the duchy from Pian en Luries to form a new monarchy. The regions of Poryatu, Dantooine, Nid Tek, and Lupa Lapu followed the city in the secession. Soon after the secession, the regions of Poryatu, Nid Tek, and Lupa Lapu all switched allegiance back to Pian en Luries joining the Duchy of Giask. This showed their true lack of value for oaths and the feudal hierarchy and became influential in Katayanna Ogren's future creation of D'Hara. When it became apparent that Duke Kaennji could not win and that his secession was not going to be successful, he founded a Dwilight version of Magna Aenilia Ecclesia and fled the land leaving all those that remained true to their oaths to fend for themselves. The religion never took off and failed soon afterward. Kaennji Shenron disappeared.
Dame Katayanna Ogren was the next appointed Duchess of Poryatown. She also became General of Verus Luria. When Katayanna took control of the duchy, Verus Luria had no soldiers and no organization. Within just a few days, Verus Luria saw its first victorious battle in Poryatown due to the efforts of Duchess Katayanna as well as the new King, Sir Reynard.
King Reynard initiated the civil guard at great personal cost and Duchess Katayanna organized the few military forces into a fighting army. Unfortunately, Duchess Katayanna was captured in that battle. They had a battle in Poryatu after her return in a last ditch effort to secure Poryatu and much needed food as Pian en Luries had been intentionally starving Poryatown into submission. Duchess Katayanna and the 10 nobles that followed her ventured out into the wilderness in an attempt to create a realm of their own. The city revolted to Pian en Luries shortly afterward. However, it then decided to go independent and has remained rogue for a long time, until it was taken over by Pian en Luries again.
