Corwyn Ni'Tessine is the founder of the Ni'Tessine noble family, though it came at great personal cost: the life of his father Lucas.
Soon after becoming a noble he became a student of mentor Sir Meristenzio Peristaltico, and shortly afterward swore an oath of fealty to Sir Vlaed Aldarion, the Count of Elmbar. Corwyn now runs an estate on the northern edge of Elmbar, as close as possible to the forest of Limbar.
Merely four days after his family earned a title Corwyn found himself defending his liege's region. It was a short one-sided battle, if it can be called that, with Corwyn's archers versus a single monster. No losses were suffered.
Less than a week after that Corwyn found himself engaged in his first major battle. The Sirion forces caught the army of Westmoor in a pincer movement, and Westmoor suffered huge losses. None of Corwyn's troops died, once again.
However, in his very next battle Corwyn lost some of his men for the first time. Along with the rest of the Army of Sirion, his forces were dug into makeshift fortifications defending the region of Tabost when the combined forces of Fontan and Westmoor attacked their position. Though Sirion was victorious, it was a slaughter-fest. Five of Corywn's men perished that die, and four more were lightly wounded. The Army of Sirion itself was almost in disarray.
There was hardly a moment to rest. In less than 12 hours, the armies rallied and went at it again. It was truly a feast for crows. Once again it was a very close fight, with Sirion remaining victorious. This time Corwyn's unit fared much better, and did not lose a single elf. In addition, Corwyn's two healers were able to heal the four wounded soldiers, strengthening the unit further.
It was in an ensuing engagement, far to the North against the Sultanate of Asena curs, that Corwyn was first forced to retreat from the field of battle. The Sirion forces were victorious in that battle, but for Corwyn who had till then never been forced to retreat, the victory tasted bittersweet.
In what was to be almost the very next battle, Corwyn truly tasted defeat for the first time. He and his elven archers were in Sermbar, dug-in, versus an inferior invading force... and the Sirion army lost. Corywn's unit was wiped out, and Corwyn himself was captured. This was a battle that was incomprehensible to him. They had the advantage of superior combat strength, but also the advantage of defending and their archers were dug-in. He would read and re-read that battle report many times, trying to figure out what had gone wrong. Of course, being in prison, Corwyn had lots of time to ponder this...
Once freed from prison, Corwyn discovered that his old fellow-raider Sir Atanamir of Umbar (now Lord Atanamir) had become Marshal of the Army of Sirion. Furthermore, that Lord Atanamir had recommended Corwyn for the position of Vice-Marshal, and this recommendation was accepted by the army sponsor. Shortly afterward, less than 2 months after starting his career Sir Corwyn received a (temporary) battle-field promotion to Marshal of the Army of Sirion, commanding 39 other nobles, whilst Lord Atanamir was wounded in combat.
It would not be until a week or so later, on Dec 19 of the year 2009, that Sir Corwyn would finally lead a battle. Marshal Atanamir lay wounded from a previous battle, and Corwyn stepped in to lead the Army of Sirion in an Infantry Charge formation to defend the newly conquered region of Tabost. Some time afterward, on Jan 6th, Marshal Atanamir became General of Sirion and Corwyn was asked to become Marshal of the Army of Sirion.
It was only a few days after becoming Marshal that Corwyn was defeated on the fields of Dale. After leading a successful massive attack on the region of Tabost versus Fontan forces, the enemy forces from the Sultanate of Asena moved South and threatened to undo everything they had just gained. The army rallied in Dale, but it would not be enough. All three of their enemies (Fontan, Westmoor, Sultanate of Asena) attacked their position, and they were overrun. Corwyn was captured by the Sultanate of Asena forces, and while imprisoned his archer unit was hunted down to a man.
This was a truly horrific day for Corwyn, as his long-time childhood friend as well as Captain of his forces, Erkenbrand Rilacher, was presumed dead.
With heavy heart, he returned to Sirion after being freed, and decided to rally a new force. A force for good, a force that would stand strong like a rock against all adversity. He recruited from the Sirion Templars, and his infantry force would be known as the Paladins of Elune.
Corwyn is doing his best to put on a brave face, take on a noble bearing, and make a name for himself. The natural choice is of course to lend his forces to the war effort, and in that capacity he aims to achieve both honour and prestige.
He is also a bit of a scholar however, having maintained the historical records of Sirion, as well as analyzing battle reports. For instance, a skirmish in Sermbar reinforced what he suspected: that archery units with maximum range are fully worth the cost.
He is now leading a force of infantry in the Army of Sirion, and having retired as Marshal he is now happily serving as Banker of Sirion (and at one point Ambassador). When possible he also entreats his family to invest in Sirion. In August 2010 his family invested 510 gold in the city of Sirion, and this was then repeated again on Oct 4th of the same year. Later that month his family also invested in the city of Parm, and then again on December 7th in the same city, followed by investing in Sirion city on the 24th of December. The family invested in Sirion city again, on the 9th of April, and then invested 320 gold in the city of Slimbar on April 17th, followed by investing 430 gold in the city of Parm on April 27th, and then again in Sirion city on May 13th and July 14th.
