Ashrak/Ashrak Museum/The Life of the Demon of Dwilight
"The Life of the Demon of Dwilight" Exhibit
For this exhibit, the museum’s corners serve as four sections. The first corner has a painting and a bust of the Demon of Dwilight. A plaque up front offers an introduction and brief biography of the man. It reads:
"Born in the impoverished region of Dulbin on the East Continent he left his family behind to adventure and explore the frontier continent of Dwilight. His life has always been committed to those early pure ideals of adventurism and exploration, despite the often interruption by the will of his demon." "It is difficult to summarize the life and personality of the Demon of Dwilight. Many people know different versions of him. Whether as an academic, a duelist, an historian, a novelist, a statesman, a military commander or a trader (and much more) his friends and associates can always trust in his unwavering commitment to any cause or project and especially his thoroughness. These comprise the qualities and vocations of the man. In his more erratic forms many people know him as a zealot crusader, a vocal opponent of Astromancy, a mystic revelator, a causer of disorder and strife and worse of all a man suffering from the possession of a demon. His villainy has spread across Dwilight from the bottom corner to the top and he has even come to near lethal contact with the horrendous daimons of the Zumalands." "What can be said for certainty of him is that the history he so enthusiastically records is frequently splashed by the history he makes." |
The other sections are labeled above their displays:
"Personal Clothing and Items"
1. Fissoan Judge Robes: Long robes falling to the ankles, coloured blue and gold as worn by the Judge of Fissoa during the reign of Grand Duke Leon Agenor.
2. Aquilegion Holy Minister of War Robes: Black robes falling to below the waist with blue, red and gold lining and cuffs.
3. Aquilegion Cardinal of Finances Robes: Black robes falling to the ankles predominately red as second colour and a bit of gold outlining the lapel.
4. Huanghai Silk Robes: Very rare and exquisite crimson robes made from the Ang Caterpillar of Huanghai. (A birthday gift from Count Darius Malo).
5. Duke of Sallowtown Signet Ring.
6. Duke of Flowrestown Signet Ring (replica).
7. Duke of Rettleville Signet Ring (replica).
"Historical Artifacts"
1. Ancient Virovene Map of Northeastern Dwilight. (A birthday gift from Grandmaster Bustoarsenzio Peristaltico).
2. A figurine of Holy Grandmaster Deverka Cryfdwr acquired at his shrine in Nifel.
3. A set of torture tools employed by the Saxons of Storms Keep during the Terror of Thulsoma: They were no doubt put to nasty and villainous uses.
4. A statue of the Great Dragon Sallow from the temple dedicated to him in Sallowtown: The wingspan of the figure is wide and his face terrifying to express the power and majesty of the god.
5. The Sword of Hexic Jeckyl (possibly a replica): This is the sword used by the hero Hexic Jeckyl in his epic attempt to kill Bowie when the Demon tried to escape D'Hara through the Qubel Lighthouse. This represents the first death duel Bowie participated in but not the last he survived.
6. The Crown of Aquilegia (possibly a forgery but equally possibly the real artifact): Worn by the rulers of Aquilegia until Bowie usurped the throne during the Aquilegion Civil War. The debate is whether he acquired a forgery for display in the museum or had really stolen the original when in power and replaced the crown with a forgery of his own before the end of the war. The truth will never be known (or admitted by Bowie).
"Acquisitions from Nature"
1. A jar of sand from the Desert of Silhouettes.
2. A few volcanic rocks from Volcano Nightscree: They are deeply black and though years old and far from their origin they still give off the odour of smoke (although that might be an effect put on by the Museum).
3. A permanent garden containing the unique flowers from Flowrestown: The seasons dictate which flowers are in bloom during your visit. The summer set is vibrant and multi-coloured in contrast to the winter set which is more monochromatic and heavier in stem and leaves.
