West Continent/Continent Name Proposals

This is the page for proposing a name for the continent which is codenamed West Continent at the moment.

As we have had a huge success with the community contributing to the creation and region naming of this potential new map, it is widely agreed that this new continent is worthy of a better name than just "West Continent". Since it is such a huge place, and divided down by the middle, we might find ourselves reffering to "west West Continent", or "east West Continent". Not to be confused with "west East Continent" of course.

Perhaps we will need three names, one for the continent itself, and two for the two halves. As an example:

Staclevo
They are both parts of the continent called:
Staccore

As a notice, Tom has yet to comment on this name proposals soliciting, and it is likely that he is the one who is going to decide the official name of West Continent if the project ever go into the game.

Continent names:

• Ying-Yang

Note: As Kain said, i think the continent should have one name, and then some easy way to distinguish the island without giving new names and without using east and west to avoid to say that Flowrestown for example is located in East-East-(name continent) or Mimer is in West-East-(name continent).

Distinction between Islands:

• Ying and Yang
• Oriental and Occidental
• Day's (Sun rises from the East) and Night's (Sun sets to the West) This one gives more roleplay options to the whole continent's enviroment...

• The whole world/continent: Abina
• The large western island: Abina-Ovest
• The large north-eastern island: Abina-Est
• The medium sized south-eastern island: Abina-Sud

The smaller islands could just take the name of their city.

• The western island: Nyugat
• The eastern island: Kelet
• The whole continent: Amaril

(I borrowed 'Nyugat' and 'Kelet' from the Hungarian language, which is supposed to sound good in fantasy (just like Finnish). Their meaning is 'west' and 'east'.)

Since there is a region called "Moses End" i would call that island (the big eastern one):

• Moses (alternative names: Gansu, Zhaanxi)

the small island under it:

• Lower Moses (alternative names: Sichuan, Shaanxi)

the bigest island on the left:

• Ono (alternative names: Qidong, Yingo)

and the smallest island in the south:

• Madina (because its only city)

the entire continent should be called:

• Isles of Nesh,
  
• Tattori Islands.
  

Of course all of these names can be used in anyway.

In my opinion the continental names should be straightforwards to people even at first glance, so I would suggest something like:

• Left Landmass - Sunfall Island (I deliberately don't use the word sunset)
• Right Landmass - Moonrise Island
• Whole Map - Twilightland or Twilight Twin(land)s --- Prefere Twilight Twinlands to Twilight Twins Ghostly 16 November 2005 22:59 (CET)

• Smaller Islands- Inland Isles (sure they aren't all quite totally inland, but they do seem to mostly be in the inland sea between the two big'uns)
• Whole continent- World's Edge (yeah, I know, its cheesy, but we have a Far East, why not a world's edge?:D)
