Background
Originally established in Riverholm, Abington on Atamara, though the family also currently has members in Ibladesh (on East Continent) and Toren (on South-East). While still a relatively young family, their reputation, especially in Abington, has been growing.

The "A" stands for the family's name "Arete", which is derived from the Greek word meaning "virtue," or more specifically, "the excellence that makes anything an outstanding specimen of its kind, especially well fitted to its ends" (Nicomachean Ethics, trans. Joe Sachs, pg. 212). The color blue stands for the virtue of loyalty, which the Arete family believes is the most important virtue of a noble. The family motto is Vincula de linguae vel tibi linguae dabit - "Lay restraint on thy tongue or thy tongue will lay it on thee". It is not present on the Arete Coat of Arms. |
