Daario is a Noble and Margrave in Perdan.

A man is worth only his word; through duty, valour, and wisdom the honour and value of his word may soar.

– Sir Daario's words

At a Glance

Well-groomed and taught in pose, Daario of House Vulparan visually embodies the dashing yet serious nature of an ambitious, well-intentioned knight of the realm. In complexion, feature, manners, and voice the knight is commonplace but his gaze is of an unusual intenseness that complements the severity of emotion that oft sits upon his young face.

Sir Daario's athletic figure is typically sheathed in a mesh of plates and a maze of thick, deep brown, gently-worn leather - the garments of a man prepared for combat - with a fur collar hugging his shoulders and neck tightly, especially in the cold winter months that typically permeate this part of the continent.

The Tournament at Isadril

15/10/1020
The Knight set off from Aix, only mere hours after arriving there for the first time in his life - seeing the so-called Golden City has always been something he has wanted to do. After half a day of journeying, in the undulating woodlands of Al Aquabah, Daario, and his squire spotted figures displaying the golden dragon charge of the Duke of the Golden City, Lucius Poe. The rest of the journey was spent in accompaniment with Duke Lucius Poe and his somewhat larger entourage.

17/10/1020
After two days of travel on the cold, wet, wintery roads that trace the valleys, woods, and hills of the south of the East Continent, Sir Daario finally arrived at Isadril to compete in the tournament held by the Wolf King, Germanico Mercator, of Yssrgard.

Daario claimed victory in the first round of the swordsmanship portion of the tournament, besting Thorfinn Clodmeir Flores, a young Knight of Shadowdale. He met less fortune in the second round however, for he was paired with the widely-famed warrior and Prime Minister of Sirion, Monterys Velaryon and was defeated in short number.

The young Knight also met the famed Prime Minister Monterys at the jousting lists in the first round and met a swift loss.

The Knight's Code of the Pride of Leandra

21/10/1020
In letters back and forth to Duke Gislin Luitolf of Isadril, Helm of the Pride of Leandra, Daario swore an oath to forever follow the Knight's Code of Leandra's Pride - forever binding his actions to be in accordance with the Code and his life in service to the cause of Leandra and her Pride.

1. To protect the weak and the defenceless, and seek out and vanquish evil wherever it is found;

2. To refrain from the wanton giving of offense, and eschew unfairness, meanness, and deceit;

3. To live by honour and glory, and at all times to speak the truth;

4. To guard the honour of fellow members of the Faith.

The Tournament at Sirion

26/11/1020
The young knight set off from the Mines of Isadril following the defeat of Perdan's Golden Lions at the walls of Isadril, by the armies of Yssrgard led by their Wolf-King, Germanico Mercator. The entire journey northwards was gratefully spent with good company: for Sir Oliver Laststar, a newer and even younger knight of Perdan; the Earl of Clermont, Tsingu Orobar; and Sir Daario journeyed to the tourney together, coaxing out honest and interesting conversation from all three of the nobles.

30/11/1020
After two and a half days of summer travel on the sun-dappled, tree-lined, but oft rugged pathways that snake up the rolling coastline of the south-eastern and central reaches of the continent, Sir Daario arrived at Sirion to compete in the tournament held by the Chief Justice and Ambassador of Sirion, the Duchess of Osmeneliath, and Margravine of Sirion, Lyanna Arylon in celebration of the formal ending of hostilities between Sirion and Shadowdale, and her marriage to the Margrave of Trinbar and former Prime Minister of Sirion, Monterys Velaryon. Travelling in the summer season proved much simpler than when the young knight ventured on his first tournament, held in Isadril a month prior, giving him some time to enjoy the festivities before the resplendent combat formally began.

02/12/1020
Daario met a swift loss in the first round of the sword-fighting, suffering defeat at the hands of Sir Gremis Pileran of Oligarch.

The young knight met much greater success in the grand jousting lists. In the first round he bested Margrave Gaheris Camlann of Al Arab, a Royal of Perleone, with a clean sheet of 3 to 0. His victory continued with a second round victory against yet another skilled warrior, beating Margrave Robin Shepherd of Viseu 3 to 0 in the lists. His perhaps overly-generous winning streak was cut short by one of his Perdanese compatriots. In the third round (with only 15 participants left), the famed Duke of Aix, Lucius Poe, bested the young knight 3 to 0.

The Tournament at Kalmar

15/12/1020
The newly-appointed Earl Daario met victory in the first round of the sword-fighting, surprising attendees in defeating the renowned swordsman Monterys Velaryon whom had defeated the Earl just two months prior at the tournament of Isadril. The towering skill of Ubin Clipt, Count of Blaastambar, proved too great - and Daario was resoundingly expelled from the competition in the second round.

In the jousting, Daario yet again comes across a stalwart opponent in the Duke of Aix, Lucius Poe. The Duke is indeed as adept with the lance as he is his sword - should the tales be true - but Daario's growing skill helps him to suffer only a 2 to 1 loss.

Commonfolk

Emiliana Bournais, First-Secretary of the Office of the Judge-Magister

Born to a journeyman jeweller and her mercantile husband with a small shop in Jeweller's Ginnel, Emiliana was far from amongst the poorest souls growing up in the Golden City but could not be considered 'well-off' by all standards. A calm and deliberative yet often uninspired and passionless individual, she was innately well suited to the stalwartly mechanical processes of the judicial offices that litter the Kingdom of Perdan.

Without enough wealth to be sent to study at an institution to become a magistrate of the realm, Emiliana set her sights on bureaucratic and secretarial work in the halls of regional justice in the Golden City. Shortly after her forty-fifth name day came the news that Daario had been appointed as Judge-Magister of Perdan by Queen Alyssa Kingsley. With this appointment came the arrival of the realm's magistrates and justicars to Aix and the opportunity to act as a senior servant to the realm's highest judicial office arose.

Letters penned on behalf of the Office of the Judge-Magister by Emiliana Bournais.

Markan Piscary, Ducal Seneschal of the Golden City of Aix

The estate steward at Villa Piscary in Nascot, hired by the young knight when he took up the Villa on the orders of Aila Storme, Duchess of Perdan. He moved to Brive with Daario when the young knight appointed the Earl of Brive and continued in his role within the young now-Earl's estate staff.

Captain Varl, Veteran of Perdan

An experienced veteran of the wars fought by Perdan over the decades, the old Perdanese captain was recruited by Daario to lead the more refined Vulparan Foxes military unit, made up of particularly tightly-disciplined special forces troops from the Royal Barracks in Aix.

The experienced captain lost his life on the fortifications of Bescanon while directing a portion of the town's defence to a barrage of arrows, one of many that peppered the palisades there that day, in one of the many assaults over the River Bescanon by the Free Cities of Eponllyn during the War of the Two Queens.
