Her Majesty, Queen Alyssa I Kingsley, Their Graces, Duke Benjamin Pryde of the Riverlands and Greater Oligarch and Duchess Delphine de Montigny of Perdan, Their Lordships, the Lords and Ladies of the Kingdom of Perdan, Sirs and Ladies, the Esteemed Knights and Dames of the Kingdom of Perdan, I pen this letter with great humility. I am incredibly glad to be able to report that His Grace, Duke Daario, Duke of the Grand Court, Margrave of the Golden City of Aix, Judge-Magister of the Kingdom, is alive and well following a confirmed attempt against his life by a would-be assassin. In the late afternoon yesterday His Grace was accosted in the Golden City by a hooded man, poisoned dagger in hand, but through his own swordsmanship and the diligence of Captain Waldred and those men-at-arms who makeup his Foxes, he emerged alive. The assailant was identified by His Grace as a member of the nobility of the Kingdom, but I shall leave any such accusation against nobility to His Grace upon his return. I pen this letter under His Grace's instruction, for His Grace has entered the bowels of the city. Shocking news came this morning that whether through corruption, guile, or deceit the assassin has escaped the dungeons of the Judge-Magister's office that stretch out beneath Traitor's Gate in the city. His Grace was the first to put himself forward to lead a party in search of the would-be assassin and he has been gone since first light. Thus, he has given me a tremendous honour in issuing the command for me to write and copy this letter to the noble households of the Kingdom of Perdan in lieu of his own presence in his ministerial offices. His Grace also wishes to express that an investigation into the matter has been instigated but, to quote His Grace's hurried words on the matter, the "evidence is overwhelmingly damning and leads inexorably to a gravely shocking conclusion". I have been informed to offer assurances that as soon as His Grace returns from his search for the would-be assassin he shall be sending letters post-haste. Her Majesty, Queen Alyssa I Kingsley, Their Graces, Duke Benjamin Pryde of the Riverlands and Greater Oligarch and Duchess Delphine de Montigny of Perdan, Their Lordships, the Lords and Ladies of the Kingdom of Perdan, Sirs and Ladies, the Esteemed Knights and Dames of the Kingdom of Perdan, I ask humbly for forgiveness, honoured and esteemed nobility of the realm, for this short addendum. I wish to assure you that any and all letters that arrive in His Grace's present absence shall, as per usual even in this emergency circumstances, be organised and presented to His Grace in the first instance. If there are any missives that we can deal with and process as his Judicial staff then we will proceed to do so in the interest of furthering the investigation into the attempted assassination of His Grace.
