Talk:Altar of Flames

Two things about the war of the Northern Isles:

1) Itorunt never rapes or murders peasants. In this case, we didn't even loot taxes(there was nothing worth taking anyhow) because we had considered colonizing Chaos Temple on behalf of Perdan and Old Rancagua until it was depopulated by the rebel occupiers. We did, however, destroy the military installations on the southern isle. Something which actually saved hundreds of Kalmarian lives by saving them from being conscripted wholesale, torn form their farms and homes and forced to fight on the parapets of Chaos Temple.

2) There were very few peasants left to rape and murder even if it were our practice due to the fact that the aforementioned callous and indifferent drafts had drained the population of Chaos Temple into the single digits. Women, the young, and the elderly were all force-marched to Chaos Temple to defend the vanity of the rebel lords, thereby forcing our warriors to slay them in battle.

With respect,

Thray Walsh

I would have to agree. The change by Dimitris was uncalled for. By the time Perdan got to Chaos Temple there were only 7 commoners left in the region. The remainder had been force drafted into the Kalmarian military. The entire island chain was driven into the ground by the occupational forces. As the war progressed, it only got worse. This can easily be seen by the condition on the southernmost islands. The regions taken by Perdan earlier in the war, with no looting at all, are the regions that are in the best condition. Perahsp the only change that would need to be made to the article is to list the other Dukes of Chaos Temple that force drafted the peasants, and Chancellors of KI that called for citizens militias. --Indirik 04:53, 8 March 2007 (CET)

What are you doing?I thought that propaganda is not allowed in regions description. I disagree completely. You took over a region that was hold for a year by some nobles and now you are mudslinging them? How you dare? You only had control of the region for 3 months and they had for one year. And also I have all the reports of the pillage, maraud and rape. You either leave propaganda out of this page or you let anyone he likes to add his. Especially if it is not propaganda but true. You're right, in a sense. Propaganda really shouldn't be in these individual sections. It is difficult to keep it out. I'll split some of it out into a new section for past Dukes of Chaos Temple. I do agree that Chaos Temple was looted by Perdan during the TO. However, the effect of the looting was rather limited, as there were only 7 peasants left to be looted by the Time we got there. The depopulation of the regions was performed by the Kalmrians themselves, not the Perdanese liberators. --Indirik 16:52, 8 March 2007 (CET)
I will begin by relenting to your argument about propaganda in region histories. Now you say it I agree it was more theatrical than it needed to be. From the region's perspective, who was behaving spitefully or brutally, yadda yadda, isn't very important. That is a perspective of the region owners. Nor is there a real need to single anyone out for negative attention.
Since you argue for the accuracy of Dimitris' edit, though, I feel inclined to say that his was far more propagndist than Hynes'. Though Perdan did loot in Chaos Temple, the suggestion was that this was what caused all of damage. More, it suggests that Itorunt participated in the looting. Neither premise is even close to accurate. --Walsh 20:00, 8 March 2007 (CET)

Page Rewrite

OK, I restructured the page into a general info/history section, and a section for the Prior Dukes. The info section should be a pretty generic, propaganda-free history, while the various Dukes can put more detail under their individual entries. We should still try to avoid any blatant propaganda or subjective opinions in the history section. It would be best if the individual dukes were to add their accomplishments, rather than cast accusations at previous dukes. --Indirik 17:23, 8 March 2007 (CET)
