Invasion of Commonyr 30 June 1011
Today we invaded Commonyr. Theodric my current captain had spent the whole journey here sharpening his sword muttering “For Fontan’s heart”. I hope he wasn’t disappointed as when we arrived there was hardly any enemies to meet us. We of course charged as fast as we could but by the time we arrived at the trenches that the two Fontanese nobles had set up half their number had already been taken to archer fire. Several of my men actually shouted ‘ambush!’ and ducked for cover when they saw the arrows fly as at the battle of Greatbridge we had no archers to speak of. The army seems much more balanced this time round with General Arica bringing a good strong one hundred archers to let loose and hopefully balance duke Gregor’s insane number of infantry.
Below is a copy of our King's declaration of war. I know we've technically been at war for the last week and a half but its always good to make sure of these things.

When I came to the throne of Westmoor, I did so promising to make peace with my neighbours. Unfortunately, despite my offers of a ceasefire, Fontan has continued to attack my vassals. Such provocations have been endured for long enough. I have no expansionist desires and my armies will endeavour to do minimal damage to the lands of Fontan as a sign of good faith.

Red Ale
The taverns of Commonyr are reputedly famous for never having vacancies however I think business seems to have suffered since we arrived. Most of them seem to be near empty which is not such a bad thing as we would have chucked anybody in them out to give our men some rooms for the night.
General Arica has started a take over of the region with orders for no looting. First thing we heard after the battle was that Gregor’s men captured Akron Hyde an infiltrator working for Fontan surprise surprise. Wait a second wasn’t he in the battle as well? Looks like he came back after escaping only to get caught. Are all members of Fontan infiltrators? I have to admit I’ve started keeping my sword under my pillow.
Well now that we’ve pretty much secured the area I’ve off to the Count’s house to try some of the Commonyr Red Ale which is reputedly the best in the region. My contribution to the takeover will be to secure the ale houses and I’m not even going to pay for my drinks.

Fontan's espionage 29 June 1011
Today Westmoor’s relations with Fontan again suffered badly. As you can see in the news column to the right Fontanese infiltrators have been committing crimes in Westmoor continually in fact long before war was declared by Fontan. The Fontanese have made no attempt since the battle of greatbridge to make talks with us and now Westmoor has had enough. Tomorrow Westmoor will use its military strength to force Fontan to recognise Westmoorian territories. Unfortunately at this time I’m unable to give any further details about our military plans but hopefully New Westmoor will be able to update its readers tomorrow!
Jor scoops high profile job
A New Ambassador Maedros Iltaran, King of Westmoor has promoted Sir Jor Tanos,
Ambassador of Westmoor to ambassador of the realm.
Sir Jor was the previous ruler of Westmoor before being replaced by Flaylen who hasn’t been seen since being deposed from power back at the start of the month (and the start of this paper). Jor seems a well experienced candidate for this job and he will no doubt be needed soon if negotiations with Fontan are deemed feasible. However its hard to imagine any constructive talk happening with a realm that openly allows its infiltrators to cross borders in times of war and peace.

On a lighter note where are all these new knights coming from? Westmoor has seen a surge in new nobles recently. Of course it’s not all that surprising I mean where else would a noble want to go? Looking down the news ticker it seems we’ve had someone new come along every couple of days. At this rate there will be more nobles than peasants... which may start to get tricky when I’m trying to get someone to cart me round the city. Especially if its past the evening bell and the city guard are all drunk not to mention myself.

Westmoor Embraces Evora 19 June 1011
After spending a good portion of the day passing on death warrants to be signed, Evora is finally part of Westmoor again. Unfortunately we had to execute pretty much all of the local government members to make the message crystal clear about who is in charge here. Luckily most of them were Caligus nobodies who’d been tricked into staying here with the promise of wealth but there were a few faces I vaguely recognised from the former Evoran government swinging from the ropes – nobody important. It’s unfortunate when we have to execute fellow Westmoorians.
While other nobles were sent to the tax office I managed to get a break from paper work to take my men and visit the Special forces headquarters named ‘Evora’s Elite’. I was met at the steps by a man with one eye called Hirrick who seemed very pleased to see me. His men had understandably been under a lot of pressure during the occupation.
I was given a tour of the place and some good food under the premise that I’d write something about them in the newspaper. These Special Forces soldiers really do know their stuff and were able to easily disarm any of my men who took them on in training. They spend pretty much all of their time sparring on the mountainside. The trek that I took to get there up the mountain path nearly finished me but this is apparently, so Hirrick tells me, a route they take jogging every morning.
In regards to Evora the biggest problem right now is getting some food in along with the second problem that no locals have any money left to pay for it so I imagine some charity work will be in order. My men and I will be spending most of this evening doing police work down in the village but I don’t think I’ll have much trouble what with Evora’s elite nearby. There is much more work to be done by others in the town where a lot of local crime has been happening during and after the brief anarchy caused by a mob storming the Lord’s mansion. A number of fancy paintings have been confiscated back from people in the market. You can’t leave these peasants alone for a second.

Evora almost empty 17 June 1011
So we finally arrived in Evora and although the damage caused by Caligus was severe it wasn’t as bad as we’d thought which is reliving. The people seem glad to see the return of the army although as always with any return to a looted region there is resentment on both sides. The structure of the local town and villages seems intact but what’s missing here is the Silver from the commoner’s pocket which they can ill afford to lose at any time of the year.
Conflict has been pretty scarce with a number of low profile battles not really worth mentioning here. We kicked out the local Caligus forces who call themselves the head hunters. You can be assured dear reader that they won’t be hunting heads any more… at least not with the end of a halberd sticking out of their jaws.
There was great relief from a number of the nobility particularly Cassandra Foxglove and Feoran Lionheart who both had strong reasons for retaking Evora, the former being chased out actually decided for the first time to take up arms and the latter giving up the robes of the church to fight and regain the former region.
Finally in other news Nideus Kain actually ordered his men to bring a barrel of meat and ale with him so that they could make merry overnight. This is of course the polite way of describing something which can’t be printed or quoted in a family newspaper. In the words of Cassandra Foxglove:

Quiet on East continent 15 June 1011
As expected there was no way that Evora would accept the rule of Caligus. Little more than a few days after the occupying force left, the remains of the local government rebelled leaving Evora a rogue region. Hopefully Evora will now be successfully reclaimed by Westmoor.
To the west of our lands Sirion has camped its remaining forces from the battle outside of Kazakh city in Gadlock. It remains to be seen if they will now refit or await further reinforcements. There has been no news from Fontan since their defeat at the battle of Greatbridge. However Westmoor expects the worst and we will be ready for them if they dare to cross the border again.
To the south the forces of Ibladesh, Perdan and the southern front of Caligus have had relative peace and quiet. Ibladesh has recently faired quite badly losing a number of large battles to Perdan. Ibladesh briefly conquered Woolton but as can be seen in the regional news this has now been reclaimed by Perdan. General Atanamir led a successful looting campaign through the outskirts of Ibladesh causing a change in General in Ibladesh and the creation of a new elite army. Ibladesh’s strategies will most likely now change to a high degree in how they combat their two front war.
The Obsidion islanders have recently lost a string of battles to the Sultanate. Their earlier success when they briefly took over Kazan seems to have lucked out. There perhaps seems to have been some disorganization in their communication between Sirion and their own armies. It remains unclear to the rest of East continent what exactly the two realms have planned should Kazach city fall. One wonders whether Sirion would honour such agreements to Shady with it being in such a powerful position.

Asena fights bravely on! 13 June 1011
While the last few days have been a quiet news day for Westmoor our allies the Sultanate of Asena fought bravely scoring a string of victories against the oppressive Sirion Empire and their allies the Obsidian Islanders. As displayed in the regional news column the armies of Sirion smashed against the gates of Kazach 1240 men against a measly 710 defending home guard and members of the Iron wolves. Even with their overwhelming army Sirion was beaten and the gates of Kazach held. Sirion was only successful in a minor battle in Gadlock in which some nobles from Westmoor were involved.
The Obsidian islands army attempting to control Kazan was also cut to pieces twice on the beaches of Asena delivering a vital dent to the pride of Shady’s dream of extending his empire onto the mainland and Sirion’s desire to resurrect Old Rancagua. Asena has sent a vital message to the world that it has not been beaten and its will lives bravely on.

The Battle of Greatbridge! 11 June 1011
The Westmoorian Column which had no wish to engage its former ally Fontan was forced by the treacherous nation to decisive military action today at the battle of Greatbridge.
Marshal Thomas Foxglove deployed the army in an infantry charge formation while lady Rhidhana Dubhaine minster of defence for Fontan, and Marshal of the Democratic Guard appeared only to be trying to wound our army as much as possible while retreating a suggestion that Fontan had no intention or desire to win this battle. Ultimately their archer heavy army backfired as huge winds and gusts blew the arrows of Fontan all over the place with one report suggesting that an arrow was blown all the way into Dulbin.
Once our infantry broke through the lines and into Basilius’ unit of some 200 archers the battle was as good as over. Being there myself I was surprised at the intensity and ferocity that Westmoor showed in defending a region that rightfully belongs to Westmoor from our former friends. We hope that Fontan will now do the right thing and end this dreadful deceit which has no place on either side of our borders.

Arica becomes General once more
Lady Arica Maldives has once again taken up the responsibilities of Lady General over Westmoor after she was reappointed today by our Liege. Arica’s tale is an amusing one as she managed to bluff her way out of Caligus’ cells claiming she was a Sirion noble a feat she managed to get away with after Sirion nobles bribed the Krimml government resulting in the various forms of confusion that followed only a few days ago. Infiltrators may learn from this but are advised not to rely on such a ploy and stick to the ancient sabotage rule of better to have fought than to have been caught.

New Westmoor paper founded! 09 June 1011
It is with great pleasure that we can announce the foundation of a new paper for Westmoor. Recent events have seen the removal of Flaylen our former king from power after a long silence, and the breaking of our federation by Fontan over the right of ownership to Krimml.
There are multiple enemies for us in the north and south and there has perhaps never been a better time for news what with the recent loss of Evora.
Within the next few days (providing all goes well) a new king will be elected to rule over our realm. The candidates thus far are:
