My brother, Kendel, was two years younger than I. A short time after I began my career, he moved to Oligarch to follow in my footsteps as nobility. At the time, Oligarch was strong had good alliances, but as these crumbled, and other wars against Sirion ended, the axis of Sirion-Eleador-Rancagua turned to bear on the weakened kingdoms of Omsk and Oligarch. Soon after the government of Omsk was toppled, the seige of Oligarch city began. With the republic running out of money and supplies, and bearing little loyalty to the land itself, Kendel escaped the city before the route to Westmoor was cut off and he fled to the south in exile. Finding no suitable home during his travels, he hired a ship and made his way to Atamara just as I did.

Kendel had some unusual political beliefs I never did understand, so he refused to join me in Hasland. Instead, he found sanctuary in the Cagilan Empire, and we had many discussions before the Great War started. When he lead his men into battle in Tucha, the capital of Southasland, he was told by his leaders that they would be liberating the people from the oppressive Hasland empire, but he instead found a resolute - and happy - populace. He was distraught and sabotaged his own comrades, causing enough confusion that the hostile takeover attempt was overthrown and the Cagilan troops were forced to withdraw. Since he was now an outcast among his own, and he could not bring himself to serve under a King, I pulled some strings to arrange shelter and peace for him in Shanandoah.

When Shanandoah was surrendered to Eston, Kendel fled the city with some guards, boarding a ship for unknown shores. I received a note some time later that he was headed to a republic on the South-West Island to try to "start over." Although Ikalak was brought to the brink of destruction, he fought valiantly for the freedom of his people. I heard that he served once as Minister of Finances and then as Grand Justiciar before becoming Prime Minister. He stepped down after a short time to get back to the front lines, and was captured while running covert operations against Sandalak. The only story I have heard of his fate was that he was killed while trying to escape from prison.
