Description: Made from the mysterious black Faewood that doesn't burn and can be tempered in fire like metal, while still retaining the lightness of wood, the Faewood Guard of the Dragonslayer is as hard and protects as well as any high quality metal shield.

It is round, almost a metre in diametre and polished very smoothly. Around the edge in a circle ancient Faerie runes are inscribed. The Sage Colemo who has spent many years studying the Ancient Faires who in ancient times walked the grounds of Beluaterra managed to translate the runes into:

Melt the Ice

Cool the Flame

Dragons Rise

All the Same

Stand your Ground

Behind Me

At my Sound

They will Flee

History: The same Sage Colemo speculates that this is a relic from one of the many wars the Faerie fought against dragonkind. Supposedly there used to be a Feywood club going with the shield that is now lost that would drive off dragons if the shield is struck by it.

In recent days it was taken from the body of a defeated Monster chieftain in Djembe (Sint, Beluaterra) by the adventurer Guirin. When asked about what kind of monster he replied "I don't know. It was a big large hairy humanoid thing with all to many teeth, a big club and plate armour"
