Abington/Roleplaying Contest
< Abington
Abington is a realm which enjoys and appreciates roleplaying. To help this, from time to time the rulers have sponsored RP Contests. Minor gold rewards to characters are included as a small incentive, but it should be noted that gold is an in-character resource while the contest itself is out-of-character. (Still it remains the best way to recognize the winners, other than being loud about it.)
Links to particularly noteworthy roleplays will also be put on this page.
First Abington Roleplaying Contest (August 10 to September 10)
Rules
- The contest begins as of right now! It will end on September 10 next month. All RP your character does (it doesn't have to be marked as "roleplay" to be roleplaying, by the way -- it just has to be in-character) between now and then will qualify.
- RP will be judged based on three categories: Well-Written, Fun, and Interactive.
- There will be one winner for each category, and another winner for overall.
- Each winner's character will receive a 25 gold prize (potential maximum of 100 gold, but that's unlikely).
- Judgement will be based on 4 judges including myself.
- Each judge will award points (1 to 10 rating system) to each participant at the end of the period, taking into account any and all RPing they did.
- If you want a shot at winning you have to let everyone (or just me, if you prefer) know your name as a candidate. Sooner the better. I will maintain a list of the candidates and update the judges in case they don't know.
- If you're interested in being a judge, send me (Gauihu) a private message. Otherwise it'll be just me. :(
Rules for Judges
- Don't tell anyone you're a judge. Until the end.
- You can submit your name as a candidate but you can't vote for yourself if you do.
- No revealing how many points you give to whom. Until the end.
General Guidelines
- Remember, you don't need to mark a roleplay as "roleplay" for it to be a roleplay. Messages, reports, even orders can all be RP if they are made in-character.
- Roleplaying is about playing your character well and believably. Length alone won't get you anything. However, the more you type the more the judges will have to base their opinions on.
- Obviously only messages sent to the entire realm can be guaranteed to be read by all judges.
- Use the "preview" function, especially if you use lots of italic, bold, etc. It helps.
