East of the Merchant District is the Noble District which is isolated from the rest of the city by Ridder's Wall, one of the original walls built in the city. The Noble District consists of the older buildings in Paisly, however only nobles and wealthy merchants can afford to live in the district now. Within this district is the Margrave's Palace. Assembled on the highest point of the cliffs which Paisly is built on, the palace consists of the "Old" Melodian Palace and Parliament buildings, though many additions have been added onto the palace over the years.

A budding city well on its way to reclaiming its former glory, Paisly has the growing markets and new buildings of an expanding frontier city. The harbor is constantly a bustle with the comings and goings of troops and traders as they go about their business. New hopes of conquest are on the tongue of every noble, and the heady scent of the nearby fertile farmlands draw in commoners by the wagon load.

Description

The glorious city of Paisly, jewel of the Maroccidens and bridge between the continent and the Dragon Isles. It used to be one of the greatest cultural centers of the South, perhaps the most important trading hub, and, for most of its history, the most prosperous city of D'Hara.

With Chénier's Wall surrounding the city, one could find the three main gates leading into the city. The Sapphire Gate in the northeast, the Dragon Gate in the west, and the Gate of Maroccia to the south. Within these walls the city is split into several districts and quarters.

Between the Dragon Gate and the Gate of Maroccia in the west you will find the Temple District hugging Chénier's Wall. Here the Sanguis Astorism Temple and the Verdis Elementum temple can be found, along with several shrines to different pagan religions.

To the southeast of the Temple District is the Military Quarter, separated from the Temple District by the South Road. Within this quarter are the different militia barracks, training yards, and the military harbor.

Further east is the Merchant District, a man made harbor dug into the cliffs on which Paisly is built upon. At the center of this district on a stretch of land that wasn't cut out, is the Customs Estate, where all traders who wish to sell their goods in the city must claim everything they bring into the city. Surrounding the district is the Sapphire Wall, which guards the southern and eastern portions of the city, with the only way into and out of the Merchant District being the Gold Gate.

To the north of the Noble District and the Merchant District are the many residential areas, as well as the East and West Roads leading out of the city. In the residential zones the majority of the population of Paisly lives. Here you will find the tradesmen, merchants, soldiers, and other forms of peasantry. One can also find a multitude of different whore houses and taverns in these areas.

History

First taken by Madina in order to form the monarchy of Melodia. Albert De Blanc was the duke, and eventual monarch, who seceded the city to form the realm. He eventually stepped down to claim another city. The ill-fated colonists of Avenel traveled through or near this region. The city then saw a rebellion to reform the government into a republic. After the successful rebellion and the conclusion of the Port Raviel War, the city took a turn for the worse. Eventually, it revolted back into Madina's care. Within the day, it revolted into independence. D'Hara took it sometime afterward, but it revolted back into independence shortly afterward. Paisly was eventually reclaimed yet again by D'Hara and entrusted to the care of Lord Tratumal Augulus, who won Lordship of the city in a very close election.
