Description

Once the seat of the dukes, a parliament, and a realm along with seeing a rebellion, it is now rogue.

A budding city well on its way to reclaiming its former glory, Paisly has the growing markets and new buildings of an expanding frontier city. The harbor is constantly a bustle with the comings and goings of troops and traders as they go about their business. New hopes of conquest are on the tongue of every noble, and the heady scent of the nearby fertile farmlands draw in commoners by the wagon load.

Notable Locales in Paisly:

The Gateway: What was once a huge stone monument arching over the western wall gate of the city is now mere ruins but its vine covered exterior hints of Paisly's long and robust history.

The Hall of D'Hara: Formerly the Hall of Parliament as well as the official government building of the Melodian Monarchy, it has since been converted once again into a seat worthy of a Duke. When viewed from out at sea, the mighty palace resembles an imposing branch less tree. Stretching up to the heavens, this massive structure is situated in the center of the city.

Rangers Port: Not the largest harbor in the known world, but one that expects to see immense traffic once again, especially the traffic of would-be adventurers on their way west. Though at present the markets remain small, they grow seemingly by the day, with new sights to see and things to buy with every passing tide, which brings new ships from the east. Many of the original inhabitants of the city built their entire lives around this port. The overlapping stone structures of housing, inns, and shops leer into the ocean. The constant building of the Paislanders around the harbor intimidates less informed nobles, who swear that the whole east side of the city will collapse into the port someday.

Ducal Residence: Formerly the home of the past dukes and stewards of Paisly, the impressive estate is situated at the southern end of the city. The ducal residence is far less ornate than the vast Hall of D'Hara, as it was not graced with lavish and excessive funding during the earlier periods of tyranny and parliament.

History

First taken by Madina in order to form the monarchy of Melodia. Albert De Blanc was the duke, and eventual monarch, who seceded the city to form the realm. He eventually stepped down to claim another city. The ill-fated colonists of Avenel traveled through or near this region. The city then saw a rebellion to reform the government into a republic. After the successful rebellion and the conclusion of the Port Raviel War, the city took a turn for the worse. Eventually, it revolted back into Madina's care. Within the day, it revolted into independence. D'Hara took it sometime afterward, but it revolted back into independence shortly afterward.
