The Laststars are a little known clan hailing from the woods of the Maroccidens region inside the borders of D'Hara. Their familial home is a simple farming estate located on the outskirts of Paisly city. The one of the few well known things about them is their striking visages, including severe eyes and posturing.

Roderick Laststar, the current patriarch, had spent his life building up his estate's wealth and securing prestigious positions in the armies and steward offices of local lords. He had raised two sons that the world knows of. The eldest and most reserved and cool in demeanor, Oliver; and the younger, boisterous and exceeding with warmth, Sebastian. The two sons were opposites in wills and it could be guessed they had much disdain for each other, and often clashed for their parents' attentions. Oliver the elder, and learned in the grace of courteous protocol, usually won their clashes of wills.

Once both sons had grown of age, and their family's wealth cleverly saved, the time had finally come for Sir Roderick to send both his sons into the world. He would have entered the realm of higher politics officially himself, yet he had grown too old, and now leaves it to his heirs to secure the family name. Though it is little hidden he left most of his hopes and favor in his son Oliver.

Sir Oliver Laststar

A tall, austere-looking man, standing just over 6 feet in height. Judging by his immaculate, spotless noble attire, and groomed appearance, he seems to be a man who takes great regard in how he presents himself. His hair is raven dark, and long enough to be tied into a shoulder length pony tail. When gazing upon his well-bred countenance, one will see an almost passionless man looking back at them. His brows are sharp and dominating, and his dull emerald eyes lend to a predatory, hawkish cast over his features.

Trained in the fine art of the court, Oliver had taken a liking to refined culture at a young age. He typically acts with pose and high regard of himself, and expects the same from those around him. A token from his father, he had unfortunately inherited a natural scowl which does nothing but lend him a heavy disdainful aura, in spite of any polite courtesy he tries to adopt. Further on, any of those following silly embarrassing pursuits tend to shorten his temper and tolerance. Thus, he also has little care for heroic displays and virtues that may normally get in the way of attaining power at court.

When he had reached his 17th year, Oliver made sail for the eastern continent, after having heard much of Perdan culture there, and it was his desire to throw himself in the middle of the politics. It was so that he arrived alone far from home, save for his family's loyal guards, on the shores of Perdan and quickly ingratiated himself as a knight under His Grace, Kenneth MacArbin. His cold attitude had not stop him on his first few days of his career apparently, as he had inadvertently ended up risking his own life for the sake of another in the midst of the destructive Perdan fire caused by sabotage. In a brief fight, surrounded by smoke, haze, ash and char, he had successfully defended the life of Duchess Aila Storme against Sir Apollyon Daubeny during his fit of madness. The fight left him with deep gash along his ribs; and afterwards enjoyed a long private stay in Duchess Aila's palace while recovering from the wound, both of whom now—according to rumor—are fast friends(and perhaps more than that) after their traumatic experience together.

His life since then had landed him in more battles than he had otherwise expected, as soon after the fire he had to join the war against Yssrgard while still healing from the gash over his ribs. During which campaign he recruited a native shieldmaiden to his retinue after reluctantly saving her from banditry. He still tries to tell others he is no hero.

NPCs

  • Captain Aldred: A veteran soldier of many wars. Grizzled. Grey. Professional, and sporting a comical bushy mustache he insists is still stylish. Though he has a soft spot for his lord Oliver who he had trained since he was a boy.
  • Brynja: One of Sir Oliver's newest additions to his lonely retinue on the East Continent. A fierce Yssrgardian shieldmaiden who fights tooth and nail with a sinister looking axe. She was saved from deserters who had her surrounded on the road during the Yssrgard campaign, she has been loyal to the young lord ever since. Her height could be described as imposing, as she's tall enough to be often found looming protectively over her lord from behind.

Roleplay

Sir Sebastian Laststar

A man of average height with a striking face. His cheekbones high, angular, and above them hawkish looking eyes of emerald-colored irises. There is little to be said about his hair, which is brown and cut into a short crop with an air of military simplicity about it. He often stands with a straight-backed posture that leaves him appearing to survey those around, sizing up their worth.

Kind of heart. Sebastian's upbringing had him often neglected by his father, only to cause him to learn more from his mother's gentler ways. He is lively and boisterous, which happened to be disdainful attributes in the Laststar estate. This did not stop him from chasing after knightly virtues into his teenaged years. One would often find him doing acts of charity towards the local commoners, and so much so, his father was forced to cut his allowance severely so the young man was as to not to "Piss it all down the drain" Sir Roderick had often told him.

Sebastian had often dreamed of battle and becoming a true noble that fought for the goodness of others. His career had only recently begun at the same time of his older brother, and he has yet to bring any notable acclaim for his House.
