Family origin
House Velaryon originates from the city of Madina on Madina Isle on the continent of Dwilight. Family chronicles mention that the family home moved a lot, but the foundation of their power never left the untamed lands of Dwilight. Velaryons rose from the ashes of greatness of the Kings of old. Competitive branches engorged with deadly ambition vie for power within the family. The dominant powers are the Boreean branch, silver-haired and fair, rumored that their children were born in the Silver Temple of Darfix, and the Laenorran branch, acquiring power from the wealth of the merchant prince Laurentius the Gilded who ran a lucrative trading enterprise in southern Dwilight.
The motto of the House is "We bring the sun", the crest depicting the eternal golden sun on a purple-white background.
