The start of the raid began with the raiding Sirion forces moving around the great wall of enemy forces that spanned from Tabost, just to the north, all the way to Caqueta. At this point a small expeditionary force of Fontan forces from Tabost could likely have caught us before we did much damage. Instead the Sirion forces encountered only light resistance in Montijo.

Though this may have seemed like an uneventful beginning to a raiding venture deep into Fontan territory, the events as recorded by Atanamir of Umbar's scribe tell otherwise.
