The Riombaran Herald was formed in the period of relative stability for Riombara. However, one needs to know the recent history prior to the foundation of the Herald in order to better understand the present and the future. Thus, this is a short summary of the most recent history of Riombara. Fourth Age of Beluaterra.  As Enweil and Riombara remained in the relative stalemate, the new King of Irombrozia, Anselm Recena, decreed that the High Chancellor Delvin Anaris of Riombara has shown his intention to lead Riombara to war against Irombrozia as soon as the time permits that. Little did King Anselm knew that Riombara cherishes democratical principles and that the vote were to be held if war declarations were to occur. Nevertheless, the war of Riombara against three other realms had begun. Enweil and Avalon invaded the Riombaran soil from the North and Irombrozia from the South. Irombrozia is a small realm to the south of Riombara that is centralized in Irombro, a city which once was a part of Riombara. In the Third Age of Beluaterra the Duke of Irombro seceded his city from Riombara thus starting the long civil war within Riombara. Riombara was in a dire situation. With enemies circling around her, the realm was imploding from within. Hit by several treasons and internal dissatisfaction the realm lost a fair deal of battles and land. Most important treasons were those of the High Constable of Riombara, Sir Colin Bedwyr (who met his demise and died in a duel in Bolkenia) and the Lord of Ardmore, Sir Alair Scirius, who had aligned his region to the Duchy of Irombro. Ajitmon and Kuugl were looted to the ground, the Irombrozians attacked Rueffilo and Rii and managed to conquer them both. Many raids occurred in the heartland of Riombara and many nobles left as a result of defeats. Ultimately, the city of Rines had fallen due to the starvation, massive sieges, the mischiefs of the Blood Cult priests and due to a poor management of the Duke of Rines.
Then, the war between Old Grehk and Fronen escalated to global proportions drawing almost entire Beluaterra into that conflict. Sadly for Riombara, Enweil was free to do as they wish again and it seemed nothing could stop their advancing armies. However, as all things come to pass so did Riombaran disease. While Enweil was busy up north, the trouble makers were chased off from the realm and a new generation of heroes took it upon themselves to defend Riombara from the onslaught. The Enweilian forces with their minds set on pillaging, raping and destroying invaded with great enthusiasm convinced they cannot lose, but the Riombaran line of defense was made of steel and Enweil learned that in a hard way. There were several huge battles in that time and in all of them the Enweilian forces were utterly defeat and routed. One that is to be remembered is the popularly called Shooting Turkeys. The battle took place in Mio Dupaki and it was an absolute massacre of the Enweilian invaders that no one expected. From that day on, Enweil has not yet gathered the courage to invade Riombara again. Riombara survived against all odds. From the bitter adversity new leaders have emerged trough steel and the realm was safe on the wings of glory again. The young and the old together stood in the realm they can be proud of and continued to war the rebel Irombrozians south of them. As the Riombaran pressure gets higher and higher one can only wonder for how long can Irombrozia defend before they declare full capitulation and a surrender. ~Asterion Arrakis, Duke of Grehk December 21, 2009 In the last few days the armies of Riombara were assaulted several times by Irombrozia while defending their takeover of Rii. The first assault came yesterday at dawn, after which a few guerrilla attacks followed. Riombara stood as the decisive victor in all of these battles and completely destroyed the Irombrozian mobile force, thus defending their takeover. During the first main attack the field saw two armies confronting each other. The main Riombaran army, the Army of the Sun, was lead into battle by Marshal Brynolf Algotsson showing iron discipline of a well trained army. The Irombrozian Army of the Phoenix has sustained massive damage and their attack, although brave, was pretty much futile. These assaults seem like the acts of desperation which only strenghtens the Riombaran resolve in the liberation of the long lost city of Irombro. The takeover of Rii has finished after 5 days of continuous military presence. The locals of Rii are hailing their new government as their previous rulers are returning to their rightful lands. Lord Sendan Falcore has been chosen as the next sovereign of Rii, on which we congratulate him. ~Asterion Arrakis, Duke of Grehk December 24, 2009 During the last few days the former lands of the Kingdom of Alluran have undergone some major changes causing mayhem in the far south.  However, this has caused the Queen of the Kingdom of Alluran - Annaej Urominiel, who was also a knight of Eylmon and Duke Jeffreys vassal, to be overthrown as the Queen which left the Kingdom without a ruler. Without any apparent heirs to the throne the nobility of the Kingdom has been summoned to elected a new ruler and they elected Frederick Psych, the relative of Jeffrey, as the new King. Surprisingly, King Frederic has been elected a ruler before the former Queen Annaej who in the meantime left the Holy Empire of Alluran and returned to the Kingdom of Alluran. The motives behind the candidacy of the current King Frederick are unknown to the Riombaran Herald, however, many have speculated that Frederick and Jeffrey were in conspiracy to overthrow former Queen Annaej and that lead to the next in line of the groundbreaking events. Belinde Crowley, the Duchess of the vast city of Eno and a firm supporter of Queen Annaej, dismayed by the new leadership of King Frederick has made a drastic move and seceded Eno in order to form the Dominion of Alluran. Her reasons for this are that her former realm under the leadership of King Frederic has become corrupted and has been at one point even compared to Luz de Bia. In her opinion, the Dominion of Alluran is the true Kingdom of Alluran purely by the virtue of its location. The Dominion of Alluran immediately declared war on the Holy Empire of Alluran ruled by Jeffrey and thus started a civil war between the 3 realms of Alluran and yesterdays brothers in arms. King Frederic has been given support by the Lords of Kuugl, Bym, Elloranaal, Thromegor, Epinotke and is basing his monarchy in the city of Jidington. Queen Belinde has received support in her secession by the Lords of Ovujemeh, Brovyl, Xween, Bolkenia, Cagamir and, as it has been said, is basing her realm in Eno. The Holy Empire of Alluran lead by the High Priest Jeffery seems like a first target for both King Frederick and Queen Belinde, and the initiative of King Frederick against his relative negates any thesis of a conspiracy between the two of them; or at least so it seems. What will happen after that is hard to tell but it is apparent that there ain't great love between the Kingdom and the Dominion of Alluran. What effect will this have on the stability of the South, and directly to Riombara, remains to be seen. ~Asterion Arrakis, Duke of Grehk December 30, 2009 Today, the rebellion that started a few days ago in Melhed, has successfully finished after which the new Empress Cypreana Rossini reformed the existing Republic of Melhed into the new Monarchy of Melhed. The rebels have successfully taken control of the royal palace in Agyr and installed a completely new government. As we found out, the rebel movement and the uprising of the government has been started due to the growing apathy that has infiltrated into the central decision making body of Melhed, the Senate, which resulted in the failure to make any decisions at all for the betterment of the realm. The newly formed monarchy should be able to at least make some initiative in the sleepy realm of Melhed, which, by the way, did not participate in any kind of wars against humans nor Daimons for around 4 years. ~Asterion Arrakis, Duke of Grehk | |||
