Dwilight University/History/Astromancy at War!/Aquilegia versus Xinhai: The Flow Peninsula Theatre
The facts for this analysis have been gathered through usual means: interviews, public speeches and by researching the Dwilight Daily archives. Aquilegia versus Xinhai: The Flow Peninsula Theatre
This is not a civil war, nor a war of subjugation, neither is it a war for conquest or on principles. It is not for liberation or profit, and it is certainly not for conversion. Hence I could not find a word to describe this type of war (one between two realms of the same religion,) so I have decided to classify it as an inter-religio war. What then, is the cause for the inter-religio war between Aquilegia and Xinhai?
Belligerents on both sides state their opinion on why these two Astromancer realms are at war.
Emperor Faolin believes that Xinhai is attempting to neutralize Aquilegia into a puppet realm by claiming the current regime is illegitimate. He says they strongly demand the return of the former Duke of Flowrestown, Lord Vesuvis Adriddae and the expulsion of Aquilegia’s former ruler Lord Garret Artemesia. Lord Garret has already been banned for a failed rebellion attempt which occurred in the Autumn of 8 YD. Lord Vesuvis was expelled for a failed rebellion in the Spring of 7 YD. The history of that rebellion is unknown to me but Lord Vesuvis was cast out by the Aquilegions. It is presumably obvious then why Aquilegia will not accept Lord Vesuvis’ return without a fight. The Aquilegions are fighting for the current stasis of their realm.
So why is Xinhai warring on Aquilegia?
The Xinhaittites claim that Lord Vesuvis is the legitimate Duke of Flowrestown and that he was wrongfully ejected by the realm because of Lord Garret, whom they deem a heretic, and Lady Ashlyn Twinblade, the current Duchess of Flowrestown. They believe the realm has been corrupted and requires a regime change. For resolution they demand the reinstatement of Lord Vesuvis as Duke as well as appointing him ruler, the placement of another Xinhai sympathizer as judge, and the containment of Aquilegia’s expansion. Xinhai is trying to exercise authority over Aquilegia but finds no cooperation.
The cause for war between Aquilegia and Xinhai from my seat is Flowrestown. These two Astromancer realms are fighting for the future occupancy of the city at the end of the peninsula. Aquilegia defends Ashlyn as Duchess with its army, while Xinhai wants Vesuvis as Duke thus assaults the realm.
One is at war for the preservation of their kingdom, the other wars for the reordering of their colony.
This is the cause for the War of the Bloodstars.
