Victory in Mansbridge! By Relkin Sypher October 25th '07

Earlier this week, a contingent of forces marched towards Elost. Norland, fearing attack rushed to defend Elost. However, halfway up the mountain, pre-arranged signal fires were lit and the forces turned and returned to Lyton. At the same time, our forces regrouped in Winwich. The contingent force was put to forced march and hurried to Winwich to join with the rest of the army. Soon a force of over 1,000 warriors was assembled in Winwich. Banners and flags from throughout Minas Ithil had been assembled. This force, the largest that Minas Ithil has seen in a long time was ready to strike. Many of Norland's forces, who hurried to Elost found themselves unable to help as Minas Ithil broke camp and crossed the river to Mansbridge.

Close to 1,000 warriors of Minas Ithil marched on the gates of Mansbridge as the sun set over the mountains to the west. Guarding the walls were about 500 Norlanders. A storm brewing off the coast created strong gusts and rain, making it difficult for Norland's archers. Numerous siege engines rolled up to the walls and soon battle raged on the walls of Mansbridge as Norland found itself unable to push back the attackers.

As the battle came to a close, rough estimates are that over 500 men lie dead or dying at the end of the battle. In the intense fighting that took place on the walls the Baron of Moramroth, Sir Maximus Casci, was killed.

The York Journal congratulates all of the brave men and women of Minas Ithil that made this victory possible over Norland. This victory has been long in coming but was well worth the time and effort spent planning and waiting for the moment to strike. With Norland's defense perimeter breached Minas Ithil has gained the upper hand in the war. No longer will Norland be able to hide behind its walls for protection. With Evil, Norland's Defense Minister wounded in the recent battle as well as numerous other nobles wounded or imprisoned by our forces Norland will have a difficult time reversing this most recent development.

In other news, word has reached Minas Ithil that Talerium has joined forces with their ally Eston in fighting Falasan.

Victory over the Northern Alliance? By Relkin Sypher October 22nd '07

Several weeks have passed since Eston's ally, Barony of Makar, joined the fight against Falasan. However, even with the help Eston and Barony of Makar seem to be unable to reverse the gains that Falasan has made. On the contrary, Eston has lost control of Dondor again and the region is currently leaderless.

It appears that if anything Falasan has acted with restraint, given the superiority of their military forces. Darka, who previously helped Eston, seems to be content to stay out of the war, perhaps wisely seeing that it would not be in their interests to rejoin it. Given all these factors, this newspaper wonders how much longer that war will continue. Eston has badly failed in its objective and Falasan has emerged stronger than before.

Given the similarity to Minas Ithil's own conflict, Norland would be wise to consider peace before it finds itself in a similar situation.

Northern Wars update By Relkin Sypher October 8th '07

Eston has reclaimed the region of Dondor from Falasan with the help of Barony of Makar. However, Falasan's army is largely intact and continues to raid Eston regions in retaliation for the ravaging of their regions earlier in the war. Falasan has been victorious in recent battles in Meneriel and Amdor.

The stalemate between Minas Ithil and Norland continues. An attack on Elost was repelled by Norland this weekend. An end of the war seems unlikely, as Norland seems intent on claiming Winwich, Dunstoke and York for itself.

Monsters on the rise across Atamara By Relkin Sypher October 8th '07

Monsters are devastating various areas of Atamara. Cagilan Empire, Darka, and others are reported to be suffering from large scale monster attacks. Based on scattered reports CE at least is receiving help from Carelia and Talerium is helping Darka. It is good to see cooperation between nations in dealing with these attacks. Monsters have also become increasingly common in Minas Ithil but we have been thus far spared from attacks of the same degree as some other realms.
