A unique find

Ramil Aldarion, Marshal of the Leohampton Legion has found Ucdauh's Ring of Leadership in Cheltenborne. There is certainly a great deal of prestige that comes from wearing his ring. Congratulations Marshal Ramil.

Death of Commoner sparks war?

January 28th

A series of strange events have complicated the war between Eston and Darka. Darka executed a commoner from Eston recently. Since commoners have no rights this does not appear to be anything of note. However, Eston soon demanded to know why the commoner was killed. Darka indulged Eston by informing them that the commoner in question had insulted the Law Father(Judge) of Darka. Not long after, Norland and the Barony of Makar declared war on Darka. The Konungr of Norland also threatened Darka with the death of any infiltrator captured. The York Journal is left wondering if madness has consumed the Northern Federation? They have had no qualms killing hundreds of peasants here in Minas Ithil but one of their own peasants dies and war is declared? We hope that the Northern Federation comes to its senses quickly on this issue.

A Victorious Defeat

January 25th

As Southasland sinks even further into oblivion beaten badly by four realms, one can almost sense the changes in the North caused by the recent Darkan twist. With Eston unable to help, Norlanders attacked Dunstoke, but Minas Ithil forces cunningly answered by attacking Winwich instead. Vikings were thus forced to make a swift withdrawal from Dunstoke, but a large chunk of their army was too busy with the takeover and remained there, so that two armies that met in the battlefield of Winwich were about equal in size. Norland did manage to win the battle by margin, but a pyrrhic victory it had been, as their casualties were so high (484 vs 603) that they had to retreat with the rising of the sun. As Estonites were not there to protect them this time around, their large units, cut in half, fled the battlefield. The forces left in Dunstoke, unable to take over the region, were thus cut off and soon dealt with separately. Consequently, Winwich has rejoined the realm it had always belonged to, and vikings have been beaten and driven across the river in shame.

Southasland at war

January 14th

A total of four realms have declared war on the young realm of Southasland. The realms now at war with Southasland are Caergoth, Carelia, Suville, and Tara. While the split with Falasan seems to be amicable, no realms have allied with the realm. Southasland is surrounded by Taran regions and without farmland. With these facts in mind the realm appears to be destined to have a short life.

Darkan Surprise

January 13th

Darka has declared their intention to war against their neighbor and former ally, Eston. This surprising news has encouraged Minas Ithil, suffering from an endless barrage of attacks by the Northern Federation. Morale has improved throughout the realm as hopes rise that we will be able to turn the tide on our enemies. The following letter was distributed with the news: Letter from Amaarent Vasata Today Darka is moving to do something many probably never expected us to do. We're moving to attack Eston. It's an decision that wasn't easy to make and it's an decision we would never have come to were it not for certain things happening. I'll try to shed some light into why we're doing this. Ever since Eston joined into the Northern Federation it has been like an different realm. Of course that is to be expected when you gain new allies, but none the less it has had an effect on relations between Darka and Eston. We've heard twice now of plans to attack Talerium and later the Cagilan Empire. These plans have had involvement from Eston to various degrees. The first occurance was when Sordnaz approached Darka in hopes of hiring us against Talerium and later the Cagilan Empire. He assured me Eston and the rest of the Northern Federation would be joining us in the attack. This occurance was taken care of by Prime Minister Captain with his visit to Eston, but it seems the leadership there has not given up the plans. A few months ago the following message surfaced: Letter from Basil ARISTON Message sent to: Christofer, Ilya, Raoul, Rognak, Sordnaz Most August Kings, I am coming more and more to the conclusion that our wars are foolishness. Talerium and CE conspire to dominate the continent. We should find a solution to this and join together. From Eston's perspective, there is a problem. The EA conspired with Norland to Reduce our size by two cities. We know now that the treaty that we supposedly broke was manufactured by Krypton. We fear that if we war on Talerium and CE that when the EA grows strong again, you will simply turn on us. I propose a simple solution. Barad Gardor should be turned over to Eston. And then the Northern Federation should fight alongside the EA against the Evil Empire. We will take Tarasac, and Aja. Aja will go to Minas Ithil. York to Norland, and Tarasac to Falsasan. After that, all gains will be taken by Falasan or Minas Ithil. In this way, all profit. And the EA grows by three members. We would be able to sweep across Atamara. Basil ARISTON General of Eston, Duke of Massillion This makes blatantly clear the long term plans Eston and the rest of the Norther Federation have. Grow in strength and then attack Talerium and the Cagilan Empire. Darka is not willing to let this conspiring happen in peace and as such we are taking action in defence of our long time ally. These facts make it very hard for us to trust Eston, much less consider it an ally. Who knows, maybe they'd attack Darka instead of Talerium to gain a bit more strength before advancing against The Cagilan Empire. Thus we're taking action to reduce the strength of the Northern Federation and Eston to ensure they do not gain the strength or courage to attack Talerium. Southasland reborn

January 12th

The Duke of Tucha, Murdo Hormondson, has founded the realm of Southasland in Tucha. The Falasani city was surrounded by Taran forces. The realm bears the same name as the ancient realm of Southasland that once held Tucha. Whether Tara will allow a new realm to survive in such close proximity to their own capital remains to be seen.
