Roleplay from Lina
“You’re right Philippe, he is a fool. Brave but a fool,” came a voice from the window.

Everyone turning their gaze they watched as a young woman in a feathered cap jumped down to the floor near Tomaas.

Helping him to his feet she hissed, “What are you doing here?”

“As soon as I learned Philippe was to become duke I knew you’d come and I couldn’t let you face this alone.”

“Idiot….”

“Ahem, who is this now who drops in uninvited?” asked an irritated Philippe.

The woman turned and gave a sweeping bow, “Why I am hurt you send assassins after me and can’t even be bothered to learn my name. I’m Lina Unti, last of the Untis on the east island and I have come to put an end to you in the name of my family and the Virtues.”

Philippe scoffed, “This is it? They send a slip of a girl to defeat me? I will crush you with my bare hands.”

“Aw look, the big bad Black Knight wants to hug…” Lina laughed.

“Laugh all you want girl you are no threat to me.” Studying her for a bit longer Philippe realized something, “You’re an assassin aren’t you?”

“One of the best,” she responds.

“Really? Oh what would your brother think of that I wonder? His little sister half walking in darkness….” Something seemed strange about Philippe’s voice, it seemed to by-pass the ears.

“I…”

“Why you don’t follow the Virtues, you are like me.”

“No.. no…. not, like you?” the would be savior seemed to get more and more confused, something was wrong.

“Yes, we do not need to fight, come, join me and I can teach you the rest of the dark path.”

“Lina, Lina! Snap out of it!” yelled Tomass as he shook her, “He’s trying to trick you.”

“Why would I do that Tomaas, she is what her brother forsook, a true Black Knight,” said Philippe as he walked towards them, “Can you not see? She follows not Love, Honour, Justice, Devotion, Truth, Valour and Humility; no she is like me, in her veins flows Hatred, Hypocrisy, Prejudice, Avarice, Deceit, Cowardice and Arrogance. Isn’t that right my dear?”

“You wish monster,” hissed Lina; then in the blink of an eye she darted forward knives ready.

Not expecting the speed of her attack Philippe attempted to backhand her on the approach, but was far too slow. Ducking easily she slid between his legs and sprang upwards sinking a knife into his elbow joint before jumping away.

“You’re slow and arrogant Philippe. I’ve taken down men like you before, and you make the same mistakes they do.”

Glaring at Lina Philippe removes the knife and reaches back to throw it, “Really, and what is that?”

“You forget the other guy…”

Before he could turn around Tomaas’ sword drove into his neck through the gap in his armour.

“Well that was fairly easy….” Tomaas sighed as Philippe fell to the floor.

“You need to practice more Tomaas, he almost had you there,” Lina adds as she bends down to retrieve her knife.

“How irritating,” came a voice from below.

The two looked down in horror as Philippe stood up and pulled the sword out. “Cheap Avamarian armour, hardly worth the metal its made from.” Reaching backward Philippe grabbed Tomaas and threw him at Lina; the two went sprawling.

“Well I’ve had enough of this….”

A bright light flashed, the wind picked up, a storm gathered in the sky while the sound of metal scrapping along rang in people’s ears. Squinting desperately one could see metal flying off Philippe only to be replaced again. The whole thing only lasted a few seconds but when the glow faded where Philippe had stood was something far worse. Armoured from head to toe in black metal of a strange design, Philippe had not a seam or join not protected by a second layer of metal beneath. Across his back draped a cape as read as blood and his hands held a hooked halberd with a cruel and twisted blade.

Tilting his head from side to side and stretching his arms he said without his usual echo, “Ah how a new suit of cloths can make a man feel so good. It is nice to be in my own armour again.”

“Now,” Philippe chimed, “where were we? Ah yes, you’re going to die and I’m going to walk through a field of entrails. Pray that your gods have mercy on you, because I won’t.”
