General Description

Beneath the shadow of the perilous and stormy Dragon's Roost is the wasteland of Underroot. With its proximity to the Root River, and to the eastern interior sea by land, Underroot serves as the gateway into Zuma lands for the east. As such, there has been greater contact with the outside world in Underroot, and the natives here are mostly jaded to unusually dressed outlanders. Many are content to see to their crops, and the region seems to be most sane and calm of all the Zuma lands, until one reaches the twin peaks of the Rootlands. One peak in Overroot, and one in Underroot, the two mountains form a gate to the far western Zuma lands. Some pass through the twin peaks for the novelty, unaware of forces lurking around the two mountains.

Culture

With the advent of outlanders in Chesney and Chateau Saffalore, there are more traders using the river routes that had long been unused. Fishing villages and farmlands along the riverbanks are more numerous than in Evenfell. Most of the northern lands are inhabited by nomads, and it is believed that some mountaineers manage to live in the twin peaks.

Climate

Like Overroot, Underroot feels the storms from Dragon's Roost, and receives very little precipitation. The temperature is subject to the situation in the mountains to its west, though the southern riverbank and eastern border with fertile lands are more temperate.

Geography

Along with Overroot, Underroot has a single mountain separated from the large range of Dragon's Roost. These mountains are much smaller and affect the climate less, although they seem to be composed of the same minerals. The rest of Underroot is composed of hard, tough, infertile soil.
