CURRENT AFFAIRS

Tournament looks...HUGE!!!

Over 200 nobles are gathering in Sirion, and several of them flockings towards my Mansion built in the outskirts of our Capital, built overlooking the beautiful River. The gates are open for all that wish to enjoy a good discussion of politics, culture and anything else they have on their mind. I have provided all my guests with several herbs, roots, mushrooms, teas, alcoholic beverages and treats from the Doughnut Shop I built in Oligarch City. Everything has been carefully picked by my servants and I, and inspected for quality. Rest assured that all will have a memorable experience...and be close to regions sacred and precious to Sirion, as no foriegners have ever set foot in numerous sacred groves..so enjoy that which you do not see grow.

Please do not eat more than you can chew, do not drink more than you can swallow...and for heaven's sake...do not smoke more than you can breathe...unfortunately, a stray Dog wandered into one of the rooms (The one with the Massive Peace Bong) and fell over dead, heart stopped cold...from the smoke in the room. Please avoid the room with the Large Red Doors, only older folk such as myself that have properly trained in the ways and can openly engage with the spirits are allowed there. If your body and mind are weak, you will not leave this room...please...I have enough spirits keeping me company here without needing to add another.

Enjoy any other room...only one room will be locked, of course, and that is my personal bedroom...but all other rooms are open. Have a great time, and please do not harass the guards checking-in your weapons...they are only doing their job: Making sure the guests are safe while tipsy, or whatever else. -Doc

Sirion Tournament is a World Record!!!

With 277 nobles coming in to celebrate the good times on the East Island, the Sirion Republic was fortunate enough to host the World's largest tournament yet. Hurrah for the East Island!

Congratulations to the winners. With swords Kokanee from Perdan beat San from Itorunt for the 1st place title. With the Jousting, Sparky from Light of Fountain beat Melkor from Sirion 2 to 1 for the Big Prize.

I myself find that losing skills with age is quite annoying...but a reality. I certainly don't have the stamina I had when I was 40, now in my late 50s...bloody shame too haha! -Doc

Perdan's Tournament looks Fabulous!!

I--by an odd turn of events--find myself at the tournament grounds...right now! I was sitting atop of my horse, and fell asleep...I had orders to report some vital information to our Prime Minister next tick...and instead of doing that, I ended up at the Tourney...it appears that my horse followed a grand multitude of people heading towards the tournament. When I woke up, I was halfway to the event, and surrounded by multitudes of caravans and people on foot! I couldn't get out...so here I am, riding the flow...I had every intention to go to the Tournament, but not so suddenly...I guess I'll have more time to report on this event afterall. -Doc

Update

Queen Evangeline of Perdan personally paid me a visit to welcome me and my fellow Sirion travellers to the tournament. Her visit was both unexpected, and extraordinarily welcomed. We spoke briefly, given that this was her tournament and she had other people to see, but she did address my concerns. Later that day, Royal Couriers arrived with fine Cigars, that were nothing short of exquisite. I gave them a bottle of Elven Wine, virtually Crimson blood of the gods in a bottle, to take back to the Queen. By the way they were looking at it, I hope it makes it to the palace in the condition it was presented: full -Doc

Handful of Nobles ask "Why," and it starts a large Public Discussion

Earlier today several nobles wished to know what Sirion's plans are for the future. Their concerns revolved mostly around the fact that our army has been ordered to march to Oligarch City. I argued that any movements within Sirion soils don't really need an explanation, while others, argued that the Public has the right to know why we move at all. Kind of silly if you think about it. At any rate, Prime Minister Handow said that we are moving the army for the sake of the Oligarchian local's safety, and that if our army had to leave our borders, all would be explained then. Monsters attacked Oligarch two ticks ago, and were crushed by the army. Oligarch's Morale/Loyalty are steadily rising with the Sirion Army's presense and help. I hope our troops don't have to leave Oligarch City anytime soon...the locals could use the help...but if Sirion's attention is needed somewhere, it would be a crime to the world, for us to ignore it. -Doc

Nobles speak out about Avamar Selective and the Kalmar Islands

I, like many others, are under the impression that the Avamar Selective has returned to continue a war she started with Sirion--and refused to end--so long ago. There are those that call for our Government to lay waste to the entire Island peninsula, and hope that this time...we finish that war...because when we offered to relocate the Avamarians to Perdanese soils, they humbly refused, and replied "We will fight till the death, and be sure to weaken you so much, your enemies defeat you....We will be the death of Sirion." Those words will never leave my head...the Avamarians swore to see to our demise, so we must be sure to ensure theirs first.

The Prime Minister announced that Sirion will continue to keep its eyes and ears open on the matter and take NO ACTION for the moment. Currently the Senate is seeing what the General Public feels about this matter. Sirion has a treaty with the Kalmar Islands which I signed into law not too long before I retired that was effectively a way for Sirion to stay out of the OR/KI war...so if a war starts, there is a high chance it will begin and end in AS--Not KI. But the terms of that treaty are under discussion in the Council because several Nobles of KI have violated some of the terms, but the Council is accessing as to whether or not those said nobles are Key players in KI...which is proving difficult...because we in Sirion never wanted anything to do with KI in the first place...so we have to make up for lost time by asking questions.

On a side note, I personally, wish to see what Perdan is going to do. While PM, the prior Monarchs of Perdan EACH swore to me that Perdan would fix any and all messes that occured in those Islands with Old Rancagua's help...so here is a chance to test the Crown of Perdan's integrity on this matter, and perhaps, embark on a very small cooperative effort. Doc

Update: The discussion of whether to enter the war or not continues to dominate the agenda of the Sirion government. Many nobles has voiced their support for the removal of Avamar Selective and its followers while few of them oppose the idea. We are following developments in Kalmar Island and Avamar Selective very closely as their actions might determine their fates in the upcoming days ahead. I personally wouldn't mind dangling Lalakis's funny head in front of my herb farm. -Adrian

Skezard: Skull and Crossbones

Why does the flag of death fly over a region in Sirion's Flank? I will tell you why...long ago, a brave expedition of Sirionites went to Skezard, took it over, and created order in the new region. Shortly after, however, the "problems" began. First, Monsters would attack virtually every other turn...the brave warriors found themselves wounded and without troops in a week's time! I myself was there with 50 brave souls, elite troops by anyone's standards...and left with 12 men...one week later. The Centers that Sirion financed, and that Lord Melkor built were all destroyed by the Monsters and "others." I can't quite call them humans because they were extraordinarily stealthy...moving in the mist...and whispering strange things to each other in a language unlike any other I've ever heard...whenever the mist came, we ran into the White Knights Guild House to hide: The ONLY safe place in Skezard, that still exists, to this very day...buried deep underground.

Earlier yesterday 3 young Sirionites marched their men up to Skezard to begin a takeover, but were quickly ordered back because wasting HUNDREDS of Sirion gold coins each WEEK to KEEP the bloody thing under our banner is simply not worth the effort. Skezard is a little more than rocks and shrubs...with strange caves that appear to fall forever...we are unsure where the monsters come from, or "the others." I have never had reason to fear anything, but remembering my days in Skezard, gives me the chills...the only other man that could truthfully say more on this subject is Melkor himself...but he has never--to my knowledge--spoken of the Skezard affair since he fled, as the last of the Elves were massacred, and the last Sirion buildings razed to the ground...the docks are still there, intact, and undamaged...as if some evil force beckons us to visit again, but our people must NOT forget the evils of that Island, lest they sacrifice thousands of Sirion soldiers to an unknown cause... Unusual Promotion

Earlier today, Duke Evylears of Avamar promoted his sibling, Brownleye, to the position of Marshal. Many in Sirion--including myself--are a bit surprised with the Duke's action. Many are demanding an explanation, and I myself, think it could have been a drunken mistake...or that Brownleye's Monarchist influence has temporarily enchanted Evylears because in a Republic, bloodlines don't go as far as Duty...and actions like these are not supposed to happen. More info on this developing story later, when the Duke speaks about his decision. Doc

Update

Evylears mentioned that he temporarily appointed his relative, Brownleye, to the position because it has sat vacant for so long. Our Prime Minister had this to say about the matter: "I'm not sure why you are not getting it. Evylears place his relative in the position on his own. No one knew about it. If I would have known about it I would have stopped him. NO one in the current Avamar duchy is eligible for marshal. I'm checking with a few unaligned nobles to see if they would be willing to join Avamar's duchy and become marshal. I will not just have someone appointed to a position just to have something in it. Evylears made a mistake and didn't think it would cause this much attention. I'm glad many have stood up and said something. It shows me many care as they strive for a position and know about the unwritten appointment rule (at least 200 days in the realm). I will say it again, the matter will be fixed." Doc
