What balls might one use these days to play this game? Perhaps bocce balls and tennis balls? - Mercer

I would imagine the Dodu to be just about big enough to be held in one hand, but only just. The Malin would then be about the size of a tennis ball. I imagine a tennis ball would indeed make a good Malin these days, in which case the Dodu would need to be larger and the right weight in comparison so that you could move it a foot or two with a fast impact from the tennis ball on whatever surface you played - perhaps a reasonably solid one of those small footballs on slighly sandy ground, or a heavier bowl (I'm not familiar with bocce balls but I get the impression they're like bowls) on a more firm ground. Or you could do the whole thing using lighter balls, using a lighter small football or bowl, and perhaps a sponge ball, or one of those balls that are really meant to be stress balls but make particularly good soft balls for games. I'll confess I've never tried it - it was inspired by a large hole in the ground in a playground I visited recently, but all we had with us with a tennis ball so I couldn't test it out! Back in Battlemaster period, I imagine them to be more like leather balls made more for the specific purpose, or I guess you could always play it with rocks, bags, or the skulls of your defeated enemy ;-) Psymann 01:53, 11 August 2011 (CEST)
