History of Irondale

For more information, see the Records at Firbalt.

Formation of Irondale

The great realm of Irondale was formed in the seventh Age of Beluaterra by the merger of four very different realms, Caelint, Grehkia, Angmar and Gotland. These four realms were not natural partners, as they had a history of shifting alliances and even of conflict between them, with both Angmar and Caelint being at war with Gotland at different times, over territorial disputes, and Grehkia supporting Gotland against Angmar, but not against Caelint. In time the wars left the entire north wast region of Beluaterra devastated, and when Grehkia was decisively defeated by the realm of Thalmarkin, this provided the catalyst for the merger. The four realms realizing that they had too few nobles to survive individually, buried their differences abd threw in their lot together. First the Grehkian knights abandoned their captal city of Ossmat and migrated to found a home in Caelint. Then Angmar and finally Gotland joined in. The great work of forming the realm was complete and the new realm name of Irondale was proclaimed on 27.03.2020. At its founding, Irondale covered most of the north west of Beluaterra, holding 16 regions including four cities, 22 nobles and the central capital city of Firbalt.

In order to secure its territories, Irondale chose to drop its southern regions and instead secure the plain between Gethsemene and Fianik. Meanwhile the forest was granted to Obia'Syela, which came to find refuge in the north. When the Shattered Vales came to find refuge among Irondale, it was granted the northern lands around Gethsemene. Irondale expanded south and secured Heen once more. It also gained Tor from Reven, which has ever since been the major food producer of the realm. It is also during this (22.12.2021) time that Obia'Syela joined Irondale, granting Irondale control of the eastern forest. Although Irondale managed to expand to Tahgalez at 04.12.2022, the loss of noble blood saw the realm forced to abandon Heen, Tahgalez and Keffa.

However, Prime Minister Remus Prestongreen managed to stabilize the realm and on 19.01.2024 Irondale once again secured Heen. It is then that mysterious events started to take place: tensions between Irondale's ally in the Shattered Vales and Ar Agyr, the return of long lost nobles, the arrival of new nobles with strange backgrounds, a drought, the Glittering Blessing and monster summoning witches. When even Prince Ryosuke Guile returned, Prime Minister Remus stepped aside and Prince Ryosuke reinstated the arcane arts, while granted himself the title Hierophant. Irondale expanded to Keffa, where the Hierophant started to build an arcane fortress.

Government

The realm of Irondale was originally a monarchy until the events of the Twilight Revolution, which established a Republic.
